I stopped buying these because it was almost impossible to complete and people were buying them up by the cases and then holding a ransom when reselling them. Took the fun out of it for me.
Thanks, this is a really good breakdown of what to look for in this year's set. It is too bad Tim's didn't do an epack variation, where each purchase gets you a digital pack and you can foil, trade, etc.
Thanks for the kind words! And I agree that would be sweet, but I kind of also like the exclusivity of them. With so much overprinting these days, I think it’s nice to have a set that’s slightly limited.
I don't like online cards....I want it to stay old school .... nothing like open up a back and praying ya got the valuables...so we don't need digital...
Thanks for the breakdown of this year's set. Some nice looking cards and inserts. I'll hoard as many packs as I can during its run, and rip them all open around Halloween. Thanks for posting! Liked and subscribed.
Thanks for the kind words! That sounds like a fun time! But also sounds like you have a lot more self control than most of us! 😂 No way I could own that many packs and not just tear into them! Haha
great video very informative maybe next years they should take a hint from magic the gathering and pull a 1 of 1 crazy chase cards like they did for lord of the rings, that would drive the market wild
Thanks for the kind words! And I think that would be awesome, but maybe not a Tim Hortons product. They kind of did that with Series 2 this last year and that Bedard Gold Outburst that everyone’s trying to track down! ;)
Great review. Not sure if i'll chase this set this yr. The cards, the commons, and even some of the inserts, are the same year after year. And these cards are only worth the money if someone is willing to pay that amount.
Thanks for the kind words! And I agree, they can be repetitive. I’m definitely going to try and pick a few up on the secondary market, but I don’t have a ton of use for many of the commons. Like I stated in the video, I would have 100% gone after the above the ice set had it been acetate, and the Crosby set is nice, but after seeing some pack openings, I’m not sure I would even be interested in that set. The Timbits to NHL are the only set I’m SUPER interested in.
@@flippinoutsc You have been the only one I have watched opening them. I've collected them since 2017 but I don't know about this year. It's almost like the thrill is gone. Nonetheless, loved your review. Awesome, and thanks again
The set looks pretty good this year. I actually really like the Above the Ice set. I hated pulling the memorable moments last year, so happy to see them gone. But what were they thinking with the trios checklist? No Calgary or Winnipeg? For a canada only product you'd think they'd at least get all the canadian teams.
I agree that overall it’s a pretty good looking set! And I can’t say I hate the Above the Ice, I just really wanted them to bring back the acetate I think! But I agree on the trios… being a flames fan myself, I really can’t blame them on not having Calgary, as who the heck would you even put in there? 😂 But Winnipeg would have been easy with Scheifele, Ehlers, and Connor or even Helle in for one of the two.
Very informative video so good job. But, I disagree with Celebrini Timmy's rare cards being worth as much as Slaf's. Celebrini is another level or 2 higher than Slaf due to his hype. I think he would've gone No. 2 in the Bedard draft (if we don't look at Michkov for his reasons in falling). Rare Celebrini Timmy's cards should fetch somewhere in between Bedard and Slaf.
Thanks! And totally could be. A card like that one is super speculative just due to the fact that Celebrini really hasn’t had any cards yet, so it will be very interesting to see where it lies. I just counter that argument with the fact that Celebrini is a Shark and Slaf is a Hab and no matter the skill level, Habs fans always pay more haha. But either way, should be interesting to see where it goes! 🍻
@@flippinoutsc Though you're right in the Habs cards selling more than Sharks cards, there are exceptions for the really talented players. Celebrini does have cards before this year's Timmy's cards. He's got several versions of UD game dated cards. I hit one (silver version) on UD e-pack sometime ago and sold the card right away for $50. Though the price has fallen (like all cards usually do), the hype alone was enough for me to sell his card for that price. Of course, that was before he was drafted by the Sharks. Still, Celebrini is very talented so I expect him to be a superstar in the future. I think he's a 100+ point player in the future, but I don't see that in Slaf at all (I could be wrong about Slaf though).
Tim Hortons is an interesting set I'd say. But over the years I feel like it's just gotten worse and worse, the 3D cards and the inserts especially, I don't know. I've also had terrible pack luck with Tim's cards since 2016-17, I'm probably cursed cause I've never pulled a single 3D card or better after spending $50-100 on packs for every set over all these years and just gave up after the legends set. Didn't bother with 2023-24 or the duos set, but this new rare Sid insert is tempting for me to come back cause I love Sid. I'll have to think about it but great video though
Ya, it’s very repetitive in my opinion which I don’t love. At least the basic inserts are. I really actually love the new Timbits inserts. I think having the 3D effect with them will be a sweet looking set! As for the pack luck, this year has the least amount of packs since I think 2021, so you have a better chance of your pack luck turning around. Good luck!
Hahaha I mean, they’re not the worst cards out there. I think I’m just jaded due to loving the 2015-16 ABTI cards and really wanting those ones back! But, maybe I shouldn’t have been so hard on them!
@@flippinoutsc He means that Upper Deck doesn't put the players' stats from the previous season on the card backs, which is very annoying. The most recent stats on the cards are from 2 seasons ago.
@@flippinoutsc I assume that they start production on them before the previous season is finished. That can be the only logical reason. It's the same with UD's MVP set. Those cards have no stats on the backs!
@montrealsports29 I would also assume that they start the design process at the very least, but I’m sure they could print them right after the season is done. And even if they only have regular season stats, that gives them from Mid of April to Beginning of October to get them done. MVP drops a little earlier so I get it, but still. Would be a nice touch. Or like MVP, maybe just leave the stats off altogether.
These are the fools gold of hockey cards. Overproduced and if you want a complete master set it’ll cost you big bucks. Not exactly a recipe for good value.
They’re some of the cheapest packs out there where you can pull cards with actual value. I would take Tim’s cards all day over MVP so I wouldn’t exactly say that they have bad value. $1.50/$2 doesn’t get you much these days. Can’t pull a Crosby auto /87 in MVP. Not that the odds are really in your favour in this product, but are they ever?
I stopped buying these because it was almost impossible to complete and people were buying them up by the cases and then holding a ransom when reselling them. Took the fun out of it for me.
That sucks. I’m sure that happens in some places, but hopefully not too much.
Either way, hope you can find joy in the hobby in other places! 🙏🏻
The last set (Duos) was $1.49 with bev (one pack per bev) $1.99 without or extra - Same with this set - Here at my Tim's anyways!
Interesting. Thanks for the insight. I never got into any of the Duos packs as I was living abroad so was unaware they raised the price for those.

Each to their own but I love some of the features on the digital market place. I think there’s room in the hobby for a little bit of both.

I miss the reds I liked the big subset it promoted trading
Dude I just pulled a signed Mackinnon 1:129,896
That’s amazing!! Is it a redemption like in years prior or was it actually in the pack?

22-23 stats on a 24-25 year set? I guess nobody took any stats last year
