    Good explanation on the way Castor works. My fireball long travel AARMS don't have that same cam adjustment that you have. I'm gonna have to adjust at the frame.

      Thanks, yeah, all the arms likely have different adjusting methods. These ones are pretty simple.

    Thanks for posting these vids. Very helpful for a newbie XC quad racer like myself. Im on a yfz450r but the principles are the same. Thanks again.

      Your welcome. Yes, all the principals will be the same. Takes a little patien6bu you can make some big improvements. Good luck on the racing, it is a blast.

    How reliable are stock raptor 700r plus how many hours dose your bike have before rebuild

    • @Team2Gils
      @Team2Gils 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Raptors are super reliable, one of their strong points. They are like street bike or car engines, they do not require rebuilding all the time like a 450 does.

    Looks great man. I just picked up a 2017 and trying to set it up for hares scrambles. I’m 46 so i been out of racing for many years. What size tires and rims would you recommend ?

    • @Team2Gils
      @Team2Gils 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fronts you want 10x5 rim's with 3+2 offset, 21x7x10 tires, rear 9x8 5+3 offset or 9x9 with 5+4 offset rim with 20x11x9 tire. Some manufacturers make stock 8 inch wide rims some only make 9. No real difference. Look for gbc xc master front tires, either xc master or ground buster 2 rears. The Gbc tires are awesome and are reasonable. Good luck. Hare scrambles are a blast.

      Team 2 Gils thanks so much for taking the time to help me.
      I’m sorry but what do offsets mean ?

    • @Team2Gils
      @Team2Gils 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Offset is how far your rim sticks out on each side from the center. So a 5+4 offset is 5 inches out on the outside, 4 inches on the inside. Total 9 inch width

    • @Team2Gils
      @Team2Gils 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 3+2 on front is stock, 5+3 on rear is stock. 5+4 on rear will give you the same overall width on your bike but the rim is just wider. Changing offsets can change the geometry of your bike so be careful. Changing fronts for example will require different suspension settings. Keeping 3+2 in front, and either 5+3 or 5+4 in rear will keep you safe.

      Team 2 Gils ok i got what your saying
      I’m trying to keep the quad as basic as possible.
      I’m thinking more stuff like wheels -tires -suspension rather then trying to get more power since I’m in northeast pa it’s pretty tuff terrain and there’s way more power then i will ever need or at least will ever have the physical ability to handle without getting extremely fatigued lol
      Is there any way to make the clutch a little easier to pull in ? Maybe lighter springs in the clutch basket ?
      I’m trying to think about stuff that will help fatigue.
      I used to race atv motox in the late 80s and remember that was one of the biggest issues was my conditioning
      Thank you also i hope your having a good weekend

    Do you like alka shocks or fox shocks the best

    • @Team2Gils
      @Team2Gils 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do like the elkas, I have not tried Fox to compare. Getting good quality shocks tuned properly is the key. Probably all pretty good.

  • @yxiscatti
    @yxiscatti 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    So, what you can say in comparisson from your old rebuild KYB shocks and the Elka Stage 5?

    • @Team2Gils
      @Team2Gils 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have had one race and the fronts did real well. Problem though is now the back does not seem to like the fronts. The back end is jumping all over the place. As they are likely setup differently, I ended up ordering a matching rear which I have not received yet. I think these are going to be a lot better but with the rear hopping everywhere, having new a arms, and I believe my handlebars are bent from the tree still, I need more time to work through this before passing judgement. I am racing again in tomorrow so will see how that goes. The way the bike was handling last race I was extra cautious.

    • @Team2Gils
      @Team2Gils 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alba makes some less expensive ones. Yeah, stay away from trees, they hit back hard!

    • @jamescarlin569
      @jamescarlin569 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Team 2 Gils lol yea you know maybe I don't realize how hard I hit it because I was drinking...but I know for a fact a hit a tree ALOT harder before..same raptor. You think that aluminum or whatever it's made of stock gets weaker over time????

    • @Team2Gils
      @Team2Gils 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure if it gets weaker or not, or maybe it got slightly damaged once before and the tree did it in finally.

      Hit a tree last summer while I was racing. Took a chunk out of a fir tree with my helmet, but the tree ultimately won that fight...concussion #4🤪 .My advice don't go cheap on your helmet, if I would have I likely would not be able to type this. 🤙🥰
