I've got yhe Aussie version of this car (2004 Holden Barina XC) and I'm in the process of replacing the alternator. This video has been very helpful, however I'm really struggling with dislodging the alternator. It looks like you have a lot more room to play with in the engine bay...

Expect to see 14-14.5 V, drop off after starting points to Alternator regulator failing, dry joint on rectifier plate or failing diodes possibly

Did u take both cables off the battery?
No, I just removed the ground cable and tucked it down out of the way.
The grey-silver beard shows your wisdom and quite suits you, anything like me though and it itches after a while and comes off 😀 but your right gives you something to scratch while in thought.

You missed the process of tensioner
The tensioner is spring loaded so sorts its own tension out.
