- Just some random gameplay after popping Dragon Quest 8 back in my PS2 for the first time in years. Just gives you an idea of what to do and what NOT to do when tracking down those elusive Metal Slimes. Effort pays off, especially when you bag a KING Metal Slime, as shown here.

The proper way to kill these things: Equip everyone with Meteorite Bracers [AGL +50] (you get 1 freebie from Princess Minnie but you'll need to use 3 Orichalcums [out of 6 in the game] & 6 Agility Rings [Pickham Casino]). Equip Hero with Mercury's Bandana for another AGL +15. Equip Angelo with either a Falcon Blade or Liquid Metal Sword.
Perform the following: Hero-Lightning Thrust (50% Crit.), Yangus-Executioner (50% Crit.), Jessica-Acceleratle (every turn) & Angelo- either Falcon Blade + Metal Slash/Falcon Slash or Liquid Metal Sword + Falcon Slash. Best to fight them in Dragon Graveyard so Bellzebubs can resurrect them over & over.
Late reply, but I would earnestly discourage the Meteorite Bracers. They are incredibly hard to justify making over the other items you could make with the Orihalcum you get normally, or are otherwise incredibly difficult to get more of them by rare orihalcum drops and steals from a post-game foe.
More so since the agility of Liquid and Metal King slimes are abnormally high (in fact, only Jessica with a Meteorite Bracer could surpass the Metal King Slime by a mere few points... at max level). The way Agility actually works in the game is increase the odds of who goes first between the highest and lowest numbers as well as dodge ratio the higher it goes; It's rarely a guarantee unless the differences are massive. You're just as well off casting Acceleratle with or without the one free MB you get on Jessica to let her help the others speed up and have better success at hitting potential survivors first, or using the Timbrel of Tension if you made one to help Angelo and maybe the hero with their falcon metal slashes, who have the high potential to off a Liquid Metal Slime with a single tension boost between the two.
Do: Thunder thrust, executioner, pray.
Don't: Everything else.

Needle rain is actually really good for dealing with the regular metal slimes but yeah what are you doing should know with these metal Boogers is throat everything the game teaches you about monsters and G or PG leveling systems and pray to heaven Youve killed one or two
killing a king metal slime must feel like winning the lottery
+godlessandlovingit the dragon catacombs has guys that resurrect with the metal slimes, I had 3 of them with one slime, so I killed it 4 times , the joy
oh boy, then it would mean i have won the lottery hundreds of times
use a spear and use the move lightning thrust. gives you about 1 in 3 chance to kill it instantly
Also "Executioner", from the Axe branch gives the same effect :)
Except it's easier to kill these, than winning the fucking lottery (bingo)
From my experience, the best way to defeat metals in this game is to have Hero in spears, Yangus in axes, Jessica in whips, and Angelo in either swords or bows. For Hero and Yangus, Lightning Thrust and Executioner really help speed up the process, since they both ignore defense. For Jessica, just use Twin Dragon Lash. Lastly, for Angelo, do Metal Slash if you have him on swords or Multishot if you have him on bows. That's how I handled metals back when I played it a lot.

Wait until its almost night or day, there is a moment in which your shadow will move faster to fit the new light source, exactly in that moment use WHISTLE with yangus, and get a way higher chance to get king metal slimes or metal babbles. When you end a fight, waste not time! use whistle as soon as possible again before your shadow stops moving! you will get lots of experience that way!
Back in the days of Dragon Warrior 4 there was a spell called "BeDragon." This was really good for taking down metal slimes and babbles. I don't remember if Metal Kings existed in that game or not though.
They exist. Right by the final battle. Helped to get insulatle fast for those ridiculous forms Psaro had. Flipping Taloon's money with chapter 3 prep and buying stock/casino tokens does help get liquid metal armor faster. Do feel dq8 forces certain builds, like clubs suck though yangus can use fisticuffs decently. Of course hero needs courage and to avoid boomerang boosting as it tapers off after the first dungeon. Staffs help Jessica (after getting the best twin dragon lash the vid showed) and Angelo a ton for magic resistance.

I almost forgot... BE IN THE SAME LOCATION AS THE VIDEO. I think its called slime hill? perhaps my memory is failing, who knows. And you need empyrea to get there.
Don't: Do anything this video shows you.
Do: Use Accelerate and either Thunder Thrust or Hatchet man for critical hits.
Also, the best way to kill them is by using:
1) The critical attacks with yangus (axe).
2) Critical attack with hero (spear) (also works Uber falcon sword + Falcon attack)
3) Uber falcon sword + Falcon attack with angelo
4) Accelerate with Jessica.
The sound on this only comes through on one channel, you had me thinking one of my speakers broke :P
PS. Get Skype so you can appear on the VMX show. Don't "look into it" just get it :P
Just to save everybody time: Metal Slimes are completely immune to offensive magic. Don't even bother trying to cast offensive spells on them. Second of all, use abilities that are either specifically designed for metal enemies (such as metal slash), or use abilities which perform multiple attacks in the same turn. Metal Slimes have extremely high defense and unless your score a critical hit, you will only inflict 1 or 2 points of damage a hit. Luckily, they have extremely low HP, with normal slimes having 3 to 4, and liquid ones having about 5 to 6. Metal King Slimes only have 7, so you can take them out pretty quickly, assuming they don't run away.
Almost everything right. In this game, and as it is showed in the video, King metal slime has 17hp, liquid has 6hp and metal slime has 4hp (this value doesn't change from one monster to another one). Unfortunately, normal physical attacks doesn't work in the majority of the cases and, if they do, they won't deal more than 1 hp, except when they are dealt with the liquid metal sword. Thanks :)
For Liquid Metal Slimes it means they have to not flee for 3 turns. For Metal King Slimes they have to not flee for 5 turns. Usually they flee right away.
It's a miracle the King stayed as long as he did. Prob was too busy laughing at how shitty of a job u were doing at killing him to run away.
I've got the 3ds remake and I have Angelo doing Needle Rain, Hero doing multi thrust with Demon Spear (can kill the slime instantly), Red doing Fan Dango, and Jessica on Acceleratle. It's quite a bit amount of hits with all this :)
Well if you have a spear I've found that using lightning thrust is a perfect way of !-hit Ko'ing a metal slime
Do: -kill them as quickly as possible with lightning thrust and executioner
-use acceleratle with jessica
-falcon blade and metal slash
-pray that they don't run away
Don't: -use magic on them
-let them escape
Metal Slimes usually flee before i even attempt to attack.

Back when I had the game before I sold my ps2 I got my party to lvl99, approx 250 hours played on that file lol.

Thunder thrust + Executioner with accelerate is the fastest. (Still by chance)
If your lucky to get 2 rounds for metal king slime, you can use timbrel for Jessica and Yangus + 2 Metal Slash for hero and Angelo provided they are equipped with falcon blade (gives two hits with each attack).
This whole video was a DONT.

Ikr, I cringed a lot when the hero uses spell 🤦🏻♀️, should be juat lightning thrust and Executioner. Jessica casting acceleratele and angelo using basic attack hoping for critical hit.

metal slimes so rewarding. yeah, guys. just have a character with really high speed deal physical damage. at least thats how i did it in FF4. alena with one of those speed rings from the casina. pure metal ownage. and now theres metal slash....
@ megagrey - Sure, some people haven't heard of Dragon Quest, but YOU should know that magic doesn't work on metal slimes.
@Zuul030 That's why I popped it in again. I stopped short of those trials and wanted to refamiliarize myself with the game so I could fix that.
It was also only my second DQ game, with the first being a dirt-cheap copy of the original when I was a wee lad.
I'll be getting to DQ4 soon, and will make DAMN SURE to bag some metal slimes the 'right' way.
This is a trick that you wont find anywhere else... and you heard it here, by a random guy that discovered it years ago and was too lazy to post it. :)

That's the very spot i went to for hunting Metal-type slime monsters, once i got Ramia the holy bird.
I know that the hero and yangus both have a technique that ignores defence. Those are really your best bet against Liquid metal slimes and metal king slimes. It's too long and too risky to try to take them down 1 or 2 HP at a time. They'll most likely run away. Regular metal slimes have much lower HP and can be taken down in numerous ways. Metal slash, falcon slash, whips, boomerangs, all work well against them.
Psyche up does great for angelo , if you have one of the falcon blade and the metal slash: rank 5 you one shot the metal slimes, rank 20 you almost one shot the mercury slimes every time and 50 can one shot the MKS (still a risk to deal 15pv), if it stays that long

Gem Slime is for gold
Don't use any spell on them or lets them escape :)
Do use moves with high ciritical rate (often these will be 100% ciritical but have 50/50 chance of hitting) since ciritical hit kill them stright away, if not this use a weapon/skill that damage the slime if the move hit e.g. metal slash or metal king sword, if not this ether fight them :)

Funny, I'm hunting these fellas now so I can finish the Dragovian Trials.
Executioner + Lightning Thrust + Accelerate = Best way to take 'em down, at least for me.
Too bad Angelo doesn't have as much use as the others do...so I just use Multishot with him.

In Dragon Warrior Monsters they are "Metal King" and "Metabble"... I miss the game so much, I wonder if I should pick up the main games...
If I remember well enough, basically metaly, metabble, metal king, and gold slime are not affected by anything other than physical moves.... in other words... the attack command, and things like, rain slash XD
I wouldent know move names for the main games though, since I've only ever played the GBC games.
In Dragon Warrior 7, Evil Slash from Warrior class was a definite must have fer Metal Slime battles. CRITICAL er MISS, it was the way ta go fer leveling as fast as possible.

fasteest way to kill a MKS is by having yangus use executioner with axes and having hero use lightning strike (or thunder strike) jessica use twin dragonlash and angelo use metal slask thats how i bagged over 300 MKS,MBS,and MS

From my own experiance iv noticed you can use liquid metal sword with falcon slash and you can deal up to 4 damage with angelo over just using metal slash. The rest of the ideas are already here Sides from another point of view...spears on the hero can deal potentually far more damage than swords can on bosses Just from the damage on the metal king spear least thats what iv currently figured and also currently as of now working to test. =) I just dont think swords are ever worth it on the hero sides 9 points for one skill and thats dragon slash. Dragon slash + 100 tension+dragon slayer on post game boss = Dead post game boss =3

@MrJunko1997 There are some people here in my country that have never heard of Dragon Quest, so I'd wager some DON'T know.
@TwilightPrince123 Each round they don't run, it decreases the chance that they will run. So if they dont' run in the first 3 rounds or so, they tend to stick around.

okay thats lucky if you encounter 6 metal bubble and 1 king metal slimes in one battle. most i get in that area is maybe 2 bubble slimes and 3 metals slimes that flee D:

Liquid metal slimes aren't really that hard to kill when you can do four points of damage in one attack.

I love and hate metal slimes. Magic just doesn’t work on them, and they tend to have absurd dodging capabilities if you aren’t using metal slash with a sword. On the other hand if you pull it off, you gain the power of gods.

that is your best bet to baggin you a BUNCH of these bad boys its not realistic to assume they will stay more than 2 rounds
I do not think that is a really good reason because I knew that and I have only played through the game one time as well. I still liked the video though since it was an interesting way to do it. Also it is Metal King Slime not King Metal Slime(:
yea but you can kill normal mobs very well without :P after gaining some lvls i now have those skills myself (lvl 52 atm -_-)
