    I cannot begin to tell you how helpful this was. I have seen numerous videos on crafters who successfully create their own silk screens using ultra bond material, but I've never seen it done like this. This is a lot less complicated. I am going to give this a go! Thank you!!

      Yay! The only thing I'm doing different now is using Thermoflex Frosty clear WITH the sticky carrier sheet. You can get it at Craft Cutter Supply. Good luck!

    • @SweetSugarLaine
      @SweetSugarLaine  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Using the new stuff with the carrier sheet did change the cutting settings.....im using heat transfer smooth, blade 4, pressure 14 and speed 5. And the shiny side goes down on the mat. This is all for a silhouette Cameo 4

    This was so helpful! I followed the instructions exactly and it worked out *almost* perfect. I don't have an Easy Press, so I figured out that I need to crank my iron up pretty high to get it to stick. That was the only issue I ran into.

    I love your videos, and you have given me the courage to forge ahead with making silkscreen stencils for my daughter's side hustle. HOWEVER, I am having horrible trouble with the Thermoflex Plus Frosty Clear Matte that I just bought. I am making stencils that have numbers, and the little inside circles of the "9" and "8" are falling right off the carrier sheet, and no matter what I do, they won't stick back on!!!

    I’m going to apologize in advance because I don’t know anything about using the cutting machine but want to be able to make my own screens. You showed on the HTV that there was a sticky side but when you ironed it onto the mesh, it was the top of the HTV on the mesh. Or is it the heat that bonds it.
    Thank you for the great video! Oh! Also, are you airbrushing or scraping?

    • @SweetSugarLaine
      @SweetSugarLaine  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, so the side you weed goes down onto the silk material. I want the silk on top when I'm silk screening. And I almost always scrape icing when I'm using the sill stencils 😉

I’ve had a Cameo 1 for several years, but rarely use it, so when I do, I’m (almost) back to step 1 trying to figure my way around the software. What size font did you use? I have only have ever used the 110....I've seen other people using 100 or 80 to make it easier. It could be that your icing is not the right consistency? The 2 part logo cookies I just posted on my insta were 110...and worked fine.

    • @SweetSugarLaine

      Yes, definitely reusable if you look after them. Frosty clear so that you can see thru it, makes it easier for placement. • @kristidick6800
    @kristidick6800 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m struggling with the HTV brand, the backing is not sticky so when doing detailed work too many pieces are coming lose from weeding. It’s not possible to be careful enough not to disrupt the stencil.

    • @SweetSugarLaine
      @SweetSugarLaine  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is tricky! I to am dealing with this and still playing with settings etc to get the best results with teeny pieces. The Thermoflex does not come with a sticky carrier sheet, so I am going to get some of that and see if it makes any difference. I had to re cut 2 stencils yesterday because of tiny pieces being lost...very frustrating!

  • @kitmernick6088
    @kitmernick6088 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I haven't made any of my own stencils yet, but I just received a Cricket. Do you know, can I make a silkscreen using stencils that I have purchased from others? Since your backing isn't against, the silkscreen, then would just ironing another stencil on to the screen material work?

    • @SweetSugarLaine
      @SweetSugarLaine  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Because you cut the stencil part out of the heat transfer vinyl, which has the sticky back to iron to the silk. So I'm not sure how you would attach a traditional mylar stencil to silk??
