Thanks for the video and sharing, just have a question about not leaving wide enough gaps when the wood starts to swell.

Hi, at 6.48 you showed the rear chanel where the boards sit and you haven;t painted in there, why?

nice job . the bending method wouldn't work on a shorter trailer but there's an easy fix .
Cut a shallow beveled angle on your slide compound saw so it falls directly over one of the supports . use polyurethane exterior glue and a couple of self tapping metal screws or small diameter carriage bolts through the wood and the support member below .

New trailers should have a slot to be able to pop them in and slide em over

Caution! About the time you start turning the volume up because you can't hear his voice BAM! Music about 10x as loud as his voice. Watched the whole video just to find out that the boards are cut loose and glued together.

I'd have measured everything before going to get the lumber. The middle piece should have been a 2x8. Also I'd bolt each board down by 3rds. So end to end would be angle, bolts, bolts, angle.

Damn. Great job man. How much would you charge to do my 33ft deck?

If you make more videos, please ditch the loud music. Totally obnoxious. Detracts from your instructions.

Man at the second board down, I would've just cut the weld. There's no way I'd be fighting with dead wood like that. Remember guys, u can work hard or work smart. I learned to work smart by watching this vid.

At this point in time I didn’t own a welder
If I had to do this again, yes I would cut and re weld lol

No way! Cutting and rewelding is WAY more work than notching the boards. This was definitely a learn as you go kind of job, but I am about to redecking this exact trailer. Ill grab my trim router and run a quick rabbet on each end and flex the 16’ boards in place. Exactly what I needed to see to wrap my mind around this job! Thanks

On most trailers the rear slot for the board ends is twice the depth of the front slot. This is because you can measure total board length needed, then cut off the depth of the front slot on each board. Put board in rear slot and slide forward into front slot. You will still have plenty on each end in each slot. Y'all make stuff too hard.

For the love of god....just cut the 4 spot welds off. Even if you can't weld it back you could drill and lag bolt the lip back down to the frame. Cutting notches out of those pieces of would is just crazy. You could have done that in half the time messing around cutting groves in the end off wood, and it would be easier, nad the wood still would remain in tact. I'm sorry but that was painful to watch.

Bow them in the middle with blocks
Put both ends in then knock out the blocks. You made this way to hard with the method you used.

The wood will shrink. Framing/pressure treated lumber is not dry. It will dry and shrink and never be wider than it is at the store.

    • @siriosstar4789
      @siriosstar4789 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

No it's not . you can squeeze water out of fresh/ new pressure treated lumber .
they will shrink for sure .
