Why are people like this? No one has a right to brag about me at this point... I am alone and lonely, while they chit-chat with their buddies assuming they just get to lay claim to me without even speaking to me? I'm not saying no, but I am not thrilled with the idea of people who make me the last person to know about what they've decided I should do with my life, and I really, really don't like having peoples' friends acting like they know me when I've never met them- it should be up to me to show them who I am, not a situation where some stranger tries to tell me who I am based on the perception of someone I don't or barely know, That may sound petty, and it could be- but it has happened to me so much, and the gossip has been so inaccurate that it has become a red flag for me. Especially when it attracts the attention of that person who is always competing- half the time, I never even find out that someone was interested because they fall for the lazy idiot and believes I am the same when I am not.
