I always hate those “Lose on purpose hahaha” puzzles ADs, the puzzles surely aren’t in the game, and they always lose and play dumb on purpose because they think it’s so funny, when it really isn’t, it’s very frustrating, stupid and annoying.
It's a marketing tactic. Watching them lose such an obvious puzzle makes the viewer think "I can beat that puzzle, this player is dumb!" and that can be a factor in getting them to download the game.
I feel like it's meant to induce a feeling of, "I can do this better than you! Let me do it!" Which is really dumb when you click on the ad and that's not even the real game. Honestly they aren't even that interesting as puzzles. Many of them are specifically meant to have obvious solutions that the player can figure out in just a few seconds. Never mind the 'battle tower' ones where the obvious strategy is to never attack anyone who has a higher number than you. How can someone even get that wrong? It's a pretty rude headgame they're trying to play.
I still remember during the Newgrounds era when Evony was a Chinese P2W MMO strategy game that used banner ads full of titties as advertisement. And that it was choked full of spyware.
What I don’t understand is why they don’t just make the game they’re advertising. It doesn’t look like it’s more difficult to make one than the other. And they already have the graphics and physics made for the ad. Instead they try to trick you. Like if it’s to put malware on your device then wouldn’t it be less conspicuous if the game looked like what it was supposed to?
Because it would be incredibly boring. Those puzzles are meant to be solved by the average viewer in the time it takes to watch the ad (ie, 10 seconds) and they just show someone making a bad attempt to make you want to prove your intelligence by solving it easily. Could you imagine how long you’d play a game with 3-4 pins - very few combinations to try.

Another funny thing? Recently they've had ads where there's this person saying "Believe these ads are fake? They're not; I finally found the game!" and then proceeds to not show him playing it to prove his conjecture
Gotta say i3Stars, saw some ads for this game and I thought - "They say it's like the pin pull game... Could it be true though?". Then I watched this. You've always got the legit proof video gameplay videos I need before I play games on my Chromebook.

All of the pin games are like that (now I've noticed - it took me a little bit, but yeah - they are crap). Same can be mentioned for a lot of different games that are like the pin pull games (the ones that are like GTA series, Bully Scholarship Edition, and half of the different survival games out there). Some are good (but that's rare), most are crap tho. True

i don't mind these kind of puzzles, but putting it behind a world building mobile game is sooo annoying, i do not care about those types of games so having to build stupid cities or whatever before getting to the puzzles is terrible and boring. and making the game look different from the ads is also stupid, hope they go out of business one day so we don't have to see those garbage ads again.
Why the fuck do they make all these fake games that look nothing like the ads when they could just make the ads a real game. It's like ALL of them are like this. Just be what you say you are. It seems like a lot more work to make a fake game just for ads and then have a totally different game, like what.

pin pull and tower merge ads is never true tbh, there’re some game developers who make it into actual games but never make ad about it
