The worst thing you can do is get a team, all lottery winners athletes and celebrities that went broke had financial advisors and lawyers, all you need Is a little little bit of common sense, and never take the lump sum, that's why people go broke, they give these so call experts control of all their money. They'll tell you to take the lump sum so they can line their pockets with your money.

Well said truth! These media people advising u to hire SHARKS SO THOSE PEOPLE CAN EMPTY YOUR MILLIONS! Without all THESE SO-CALLED EXPERTS, you can still live by and continue to enjoy your winnings AS LONG AS YOU DON’T SPEND MORE THAN THE USUAL BILLS u had before the win! Common sense is enough!

      @@crimedoesnotpay6860 I think it's a balance of the two.
Most people should understand personal finances, but you'd be amazed by how many people don't know inflation, equities or interest.
People, especially jackpot winners should definitely do at least 1 course in finances. If it's too basic then learn more about investments, legal stuff so when it comes to researching and putting together a team they understand, have weekly financial and legal management meetings. This will mean the winner can start to contribute to the managing of the money.
The athletes, rappers who go bankrupt or end up broke never had any money growing up, never understood financial planning and taxes. They were ignorant and blindly put their trust in advisors who took advantage. If you are a jackpot winner or a high earning NBA you should take more of an interest in wealth management.

or you could just go to the lottery headquarters and claim your prize

Me responding in 2020 😁: Then you will make mistakes from the start.
Just spend 2 or 3 weeks researching and recruiting certified accountants, lawyers, financial advisor AND planners.

I lost everything due to a narcassist and slander. I have been broke for years! I would love to share my story. I would get my kids back Tara and Caleb Dietz who is now Caleb Thornley of Charleston South Carolina to George and Dianne Thornley. I battled a narcissist in Raleigh North Carolina. I didn't agree to my life being a game. I was Jessica Dietz trying to work to support my kids. I battled all of society. I sold my car three years ago to see Tara. She has never seen Caleb her brother in South Carolina and these kids pay for my injustices and lack of integrity thrown at me.

Here's an easier plan. Hire a Lawyer, so you can GAG the lottery, giving you time to pack your shit up and leave town before the RTK clause kicks in. Most states require you to go public, but you might be able to DELAY when that information is released for public consumption. Your BANK should have investment people, so you might do better going through them.
If you hire too many third-party people, THEY will be looking to cash in, which means they charge you a LOT more. THEY can deplete a good portion of your money from you. You might also be able to get an accountant through the bank for a better rate as well.

This is terrible advice - to sign the ticket. All lawyers tell you to not sign the ticket but put it in a safe deposit box. That way you can better hide your identity. Then get a lawyer, an accountant, and a financial advisor who is paid by the hour. Make copies of the ticket and wait for the right advice.

I'm sorry but being 59 years old and in questionable physical shape, I just can't see me waiting too long to claim this money, I understand getting a good financial team for support, that's not an issue, but, waiting too awful long to get this money just might not be in my best interest.
