I have a question though:
Why did you add the smaller square shape to the larger one you'd used the 'mask' option on, before you applied the mirror effect on it? Why didn't you just mirror it straightaway?
It will still be a square in the layers panel... Adding the small box converts it to the new shape

I think you you go too fast with your tutorials, you should slow down and move step by step indicating the tools to be clicking each time you select one after the other, I think it will help with some of us. Most of your tutorials are good but I think you move too fast and it makes it difficult to find or see where you click step by step, slow down. Hope from your next videos you will do that. Thanks.
