    True about crapping when they load up. I’ve cured many horses w/ colic just by loading em in the trailer.

    Beautiful country. Seems like raising our own beef is better than asking some guy to clear out some rainforest for pasture, then ship it here from Brazil.

    I really loved watching this video,, especially watching Trinity and his horse Kalimar work together as a team. Kalimar's a cool horse. It's very apparent the countless hours Trinity has invested in training him to work as he's supposed to. The bullwhip whistling past his right ear then the CRACK sound,, that took a while to get him used to but he knows it's a sound he has to tolerate and continue working as Trinity directs. I remember a video a couple years back where Trinity got thrown and injured severely. I can't remember if it was Kalimar but I think it was. The horse returned to the barn with an empty saddle. Had Trinity's Dad not been in the right place at the right time it would have been a very long time before anyone found Trinity. My guess is Kalimar would NOT leave Trinity now EVEN IF he got spooked. Training is crucial to a rider and his horse becoming a team.

      Yes. That was Calibar. He might still leave me. I am not sure. But he has gotten 1000% more reliable and experienced since then. Such a good horse now.

    One thing I'm noticing as ya'll navigate the thorns and tall brush, baseball cap vs cowboy hat;
    *baseball caps don't help protect your ears, the back of your head nor your neck. Hopefully the younger ones will one day understand the cowboy hat has stood the test of time for a reason, it works the best,, PERIOD. Just a thought 🙂

    Hi an Happy Holidays to you an yours! I have contributed to a couple of your sheep videos an thought id add a story on herding cattle. Years ago when I was a graduate student I worked out of an experiment station that had a herd of cow/calf pairs. In the spring we would herd them from the the station to summer pasture about 12 miles away. The plan was to start early drive the herd through a small town then up the highway to pasture. Plan was good till we were in main street an the ciws bunched up in front of the laundromat an one ol cow pushed her way in through a swingin door an was wandering around in there looking in all the washing machines an stuckin her head in open dryers probably thinkin what in the world is all this. We if course had to figure a way to get her without wreckin stuff or soraying cow manure all over. Eventually we got a rope on the door held it open an the cow wandered out no fuss no mess...
    The next year we had a better idea. Since we were shorthanded we thought we could use the railroad tracks on one side of the street like a cattleguard - that the cows would not cross the tracks. Ha they poured across the tracks into oeoples backyards gettin tangled in clotheslines an other backyard stuff. We were tryin to herd them out with oeople slammin there windows open yellin what the eff. Cows pock markin watered yards... What a rodeo... Lookin back on it - two of the most fun cattle drives I ever been involved with tho it was not fun at the time. Course then there is the issue of tryin to get cars up through a herd a cows and calves... I have always loved herdin ir gatherin cattle.

    At around 12:00 as Trinity takes over pushing that bull to where he wants to take him I'm watching the horses ears,, we can tell the horse is carefully listening but he's PISSED. That bull has riled him more than just a little and he wants this chase to be over.

    • @LifeintheWest
      @LifeintheWest  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually what you are seeing with his ears pinned back like that is Calibar beginning to understand that HE is chasing the bull! He is laying back his ears at the bull like, “I own you!” 😄
      I love when horses start to get to that point as they really begin to enjoy it.
      Cowboys refer to a horse being cowy, or saying a horse “has cow in him”. This is what we are referring to. A cowy horse starts to enjoy chasing a cow or a bull. In fact some will start doing it out in the field without a rider.
      Many horses never get this. It has to be in their genes.

    Re tha bull wielding his favorite weapon,, those hind legs! The young man can listen to all Dad and Grandpa talk with them about the art of cattle punch'n BUT the lesson young Heston learned when that bull so skillfully showed him with a shot at the horse AND HIM he will NEVER forget.
