The Parting of the Ways was an eight minute exclusive web only episode of the BBC hit drama Casualty that picked up the gritty and dramatic storyline of down-and-out Alistair (Joe McFadden) and his pursuit of paramedic Polly (Sophia di Martino).
Originally transmitted on Halloween 2009, between episode 9 and episode 10 of series 24, the episode followed Alistair's descent into despair, portraying the seedy underbelly of life on the streets and showing a different point of view to the harassment storyline ... which pre-figures the horror to come ...
When Alistair returns to his hostel after letting himself into Polly's flat he is on a high because Polly finally told him that she loved him! He knows that his life on the streets is now over. From tomorrow morning, he thinks he will be moving in with Polly. But Alistair's world comes crashing down around his ears when he is arrested -- so what, or who, has turned Polly against him?
