Hi, Tavira town is a 30 minute drive from Olhao or 30 minutes on the train, you can get the boat from Tavira town centre over to the island £2.50 return.It’s hard to choose which is our favourite, Tavira is great for a day out very lively with lots of restaurants and Armona is great for a holiday and probably better if you have young children as the ria Formosa side of the island is very calm and warm waters.
