After the election, hearing "how you must fight and it doesn’t matter whether you win or lose if only you follow the quest” hit me so hard. I love this musical. Don Quixote lives!
I saw the original cast and play of Man of the Mancha on Broadway in '68 with my other siblings, balling my head off at the tender age of five. My Dad turned to my mother and Grandmother Alice (his Mom), "Is it ok for the children to feel such strong emotions so young?" They just glared at him...Lol..Great Memories! Keeps me coming back. Thank you TH-cam and all who upload such treasures! Great memories in a period of much sorrow and destruction as the Vietnam War played out at full tilt...this was a gem of hope for a better future beyond war and hatred.
In My House there shall be courtesy!! Fabulous. Her posture holding him when he dies reminds me so of Jesus and Mary. Love this! He gave her a new name and she believed. Let us never stop believing!! 0:14
"In my house there will be courtesy!" How ever could I forget that line? Rather, I will bury Cervantes. He who never wrote the line is unforgiven of he delivered it never wrote it. There is a world outside the self that is elaborately glad to have got there.
He said that as long as he devoted himself to the quest, he knew that when his time came, he would be at peace. I sincerely hope that with this reinvigorated, passion and spiritual return to that quest made that so in his final moments.
My cousin and her dad was in a play The Man of La Mancha,my cousin played Dulcinea my uncle played a man that had to crack a whip.My cousin passed of breast cancer,i found the book Man of La Mancha and signed it to my uncle,WHAT HAS HAPPENNED TO OUR DULCINEA~Thye were both great in the play,Ventura,Ca.
I know it's a story, but it's one that carries a beautiful meaning and it should be taught in schools over Shakespeare for the millionth time. At least in his final moments he was truly happy and surrounded by those that loved him, rest in peace Don Quixote, a noble knight that was born too late to have the life of Knights and Chivalry
My ex used to call me Dulcinea but beneath it all,I was El Donna.I was hurt, abused in every way. Those painful years followed me.Now,mostly, they are gone! I finally realized I was a victim..
Dear Ruth charging, I am an old man or 70+ years yet I would be your champion because I believe in the honor of Don Quijote . But you dear Ruth must not allow this victimizer to have any place in your mind or your heart or soul what he did to you was evil and you my dear girl must become the champion and the heroine of your own life story. No one man or woman should subjugate you ridicule you or diminish you in your life experience and if they do so they are not worthy of knowing your dear Ruth! Be strong fulfill your life journey and live in joy bless you, with love Steve
He was the original Professor Dumbledore he also sang, MacArthur's Park. My grandfather sang that song to my mother and now she plays it for me. My mom cries because her dad has passed away. Please, hear the song 🎵🙏
If that is Peter O'Toole singing like others have said then he definitely wasn't the original dumbledore shame on you it was the amazing Richard Harris that did dumbledore first and he was perfect it was so sad he fell ill and died so he didn't get to do all the film's , Michael Gambon was an ok replacement but not as good as sir Richard Harris
Richard Harris, not Peter O'Toole, was the original Dumbledore. It's an easy mistake to make since they had a similar look about them and also had some similarities in the way they presented themselves while in character.
It was Richard Harris who sang MacArthurs Park. I saw him in his one man show in Los Angeles. He was a very good singer and a decent person. I met him backstage after his performance. 😊
What a movie... ! Could have been a better movie but whose to know...? As it was with actors that played those roles, the movie hits hard, really hard emotionally. (Wonder how many tissues persons have used while watching it ? ) Slow at times but worth the time 👍
She got a completely new name and identity, value and worth and integrity from his renaming her. This is the beauty of the Gospel of Jesus. He does this with everyone He encounters, a truly beautiful extravagent type of love that only He can give.
The most memorable film I ever saw...saw it when I was twenty one. Now I'm seventy two.
Same with me.
@@richardeason3199 saw it with 21 now im 40

It gets me every time. I've seen it hundreds of times (VHS to DVD to Digital on the Computer),but it still gets me in the feels
Me too
I'm with you champ. It should get anyone who claims human status .
Absolutely timeless .
The power of one persons vision can inspire others to be better than they ever thought possible.
Peter and Sophia smashed it, brilliant both of them, I saw it when I was 15, never forgotten. N
Sophia Loren was and is brilliant and forever beautiful. My older brother introduced me to this musical. I'm forever grateful.😂😂😂❤❤❤.

I never get tired of this.
Brilliant performances by Peter O'Toole and Sophia Loren. Two stars of the greatest magnitude.
If I need to cry for a moment I always come here.

Incredible to see True Actors at Their Craft. A gone by era
5:43 ......Sophia could be a Vermeer masterpiece. Quick, somebody give her a pearl earring. Absolutely stunning.
She doesn't need pearls to shine.🙂
So wonderful and great everything of this and the song of the priest at the end 🙏
Fabulous! Best Broadway play I have ever seen!
I'm 79 and tears still appear. No matter who sings, the songs always touch me.
I am 65 and still my tears fall.
Thank you. ❤

Al Danca, Dulcinea. She lived the way he saw her.
He said that as long as he devoted himself to the quest, he knew that when his time came, he would be at peace. I sincerely hope that with this reinvigorated, passion and spiritual return to that quest made that so in his final moments.
Preciosísimo!! Quedará por siempre!!
So very precious!
I heard Peter O'Toole say that he couldn't sing. I love this.
I think they did bring in someone that sings in a way similar to O'Toole's speaking voice.
@@77jsc either way, it was fantastic what they did.
They made a huge mistake in not casting Richard Kiley from the Broadway cast. He was magnificent.

They don’t make films like that anymore.
Because our culture has become too shallow.
We are thirsting for greatness and beauty and inspiration.

Good question. The rich are oppressive swine selling the poor for 30 pieces of silver like Judas sold out Jesus.
I think I agree.

Sophia Loren doing her own singing. Bravo.
