Enjoy your sweet furbaby! ❤ from California, USA 🐾🐾 Being a previous 'mommy' of a mini-Dachshund, please-please add some items to your To Do and To Buy lists... 1) practice harness/leash walking indoors now to get her used to it until you two are able to go for 'big-girl walkies' outside after completion of her baby shots. 2) please get her microchipped from your Vet. Also, YOU have to call or go on the company's website to enter your contact info, Vet info, as well as alternative contact info. 3) get her a local dog license AND an engraved I.D. tag for her harness and one on a collar (adjust fit as she grows. Cat collar works, remove bell). (my little 'Trudy' could manage to wiggle out of her harnesses sometimes) Great choice of harness style, same as mine. 4) She will need 2 sweaters for extra warmth on walkies. (I think you call them 'jumpers'?) 5) Get a few human infant, all cotton, receiving blankets for light warmth, comfort cuddling, softness in crate, car carrier, etc. They wash easier than towels. 6) Dachshunds are avid chewers. When her adult teeth come in, the chewing continues... 7) She is already fantastic using those puppy pads, lucky you! 8) those dog treats are not ok. Nothing nutritional is in those...as in put garbage can. Ask your Vet for better choices: one kibble piece of her dry food, or her cheese. They l-o-v-e cheese! Or a tiny bit of a green stringbean, tiny bit of apple, tiny bit of banana. Ask your Vet... 9) FYI: be prepared that your furbaby will takeover your bed, and dachshunds l-o-v-e to burrow under every blanket, pillow, or sofa throw you have in your apartment. 10) Puppy proof every room. Move electric cords, medicine, vitamins, keep shoes, socks, undies, and jewelry, tissue boxes, too ... up out of reach. Cover garbage cans, cover clothes hampers or bins. Story: My Trudy found and chewed up my favorite gold hoop earrings. When she saw me looking for them... she proudly brought one to me... all mangled, with a happy face and wagging tail, 'Mommy, I re-designed it for you!' Oh, my... she then retrieved the 2nd earring, placed it in my hand, also mangled, all happy faced 'I'm a Good Girl, I saved them for you!' .... I had the privilege of loving her for 12-1/2 years. MOST IMPORTANT... 1) protect her back! No jumping up or down (beds, sofa, car) No stairs. No twisting. No doggy yoga lika a pretzel. 2) Buy ramps to save her spine. 1 for 'her' big bed (previously your bed) and 1 for sofa and/or other comfy big chairs... your furbaby and you can train together. Otherwise, just Love her, enjoy her company, her comic entertainment, enjoy all the fun adventures to come. Wishing you both a healthy long lifetime together!! Don't forget to take photos and videos... ❤ from a Grandma in California, USA
