Dan, its always a pleasure to watch your videos. This is from a former trucker (late 80's into early 90's) who became a Sergeant with the Harris County Sheriff's Office (Houston) for the past 27 years. When I miss trucking the most, I watch your videos and bask when life was much more simple and rewarding at the same time. I am about to retire to the RV life, and, hope to cross paths with you one day. Take care and God Bless!
You drove past me and my sons again. I-26 and I-85. I live in the upstate of South Carolina and my sons in west of Ashville N.C. Love your videos. First thing I look for when I get home to see where your at and if your still safe. Keep it up.
That's an interesting video, thanks! Sometimes I wonder why curtains ide trailers never became a thing in North America, like they did here in Europe decades ago. They are so much easier and you can haul the same freight as you are right now, just about anything exept for reefer freight. You can adjust the width of the trailer, open both sides and the roof! Much better weather protection and no more hassle with wrapping the freight with that big old dirty tarp. Would save you alot of time and it wouldn't be such a hassle. Also no need to constantly check and readjust the tarp if necessary. Subbed and liked! Cheers, from a Swiss trucker
@SammySambo76: In another US-flatbedder's channel I was told, that they get extra money for tarping, in the USA. So it's a real cultural difference. Europeans like the fast and easy way, no one would pay for tarping time if curtains would suffice; in the USA customers and truckers have decided to do and pay for unnecessary hard work, like in The Donald's shitholes in South America, Africa, Asia. ;-)) Hopefully always for extra money. Regards from Germany
Congratulations on your 200th video Dan, I watched and enjoyed all of them! I am longing for rain, it was -23 below this morning when I got up in Cloquet Minnesota.
A thought for your tarp, since your back tarp is covering the backside of the product. And the front tarp isn't completely covering the back, you could just tuck that excess underneath and secure it tight with a strap and bungees so it doesn't flop around and rip the tarp up. I hope this didn't come across confusing lol.
Hi Dan, too bad you couldn't run in the rain that fell while you were sitting in the truck stop. In my time as a tanker yanker the deadhead miles were 100 % but the rates were good enough to make good money. Sharps Tarps in Grant Pass Oregon. Check them out , they make excellent stuff. As always have fun. See ya,
Im an O/O based oout of Florida with a flatbed. I almost never take freight out of Florida. I usually DH at least to Savannah and sometimes further because flatbed rates are better with DH included. Plus I run empty to pick it up so I use less fuel. It all works out better than taking freight out of Fla. Coming home is always worth it because I can negotiate rates into Florida to my advantage because no one wants to haul here.
Hey bro I like your videos you explained a great deal. Do you ever do any live videos? If you have I haven't caught them yet. Keep up the good work you're great!!
Driving on ice is not hard if you're the only vehicle on the road. I once did just over 140 miles on ice when they took the plows and sanders off the road because it was too slippery for them. The highway was like a skating rink and nothing was moving but the cab over International I was driving.
I like your video I got a question for you why would they put the DEF tank on the right Sad of the truck they know it would be only the Driver sad to fuel it up be safe my friend and really like your video
Great blog Dan, look forward to seeing the next one. Question: can you run a pipe across the truck to fill up the Def tank instead of filling those bottles all the time?
The thing about deadheads is that sometimes there is money included so it makes up for the miles to pick up the load, it's when it is on your dime that the deadhead's weight on a guy, because no one wants to lose money and when you have to deadhead on your dime your looking at the miles and fuel that is going to hit you in the wallet and when your an O/O every mile you can make money is a good thing because when you have those miles that dont over the course of year... it really makes those miles were there was no remuneration jump out at you when your doing the financials. Now we know sometimes deadheads are going to happen but minimizing and planning can help avoid them, sometimes it;s a good idea to take something out of an area where the freight aint the best that will cover your fuel at the minimum to get to better freight lane were you can get a better paying load, sometimes that how it goes in the O/O trucking world
Hey Dan, I've noticed on a few of JBG's fueling videos that there have been a few islands that have DEF pumps on the right side as well. I wonder if these are new updated units or leftovers from several years ago? Take care.
You got lucky, that rain turned into snow all day Friday. We had 8 hours of snow Friday. That is after ice fell first. I'm south of Jackson near the Ms state line. And it still slick here this am.
Must b something Pete's done in 2013 if thats the yr of ur ride cause I noticed the 13 models def is on passenger side lol, like the super man hoodie I'm n to the batman n got few diff styles,b safe Mr truck driver
I was watching Midwest Truck in Iowa do a tow job on a truck that would not start on a very cold morning. They said it turned out the DEP tank was frozen solid. I didn't know DEP freezing was something you had to worry about. Is it true it will freeze?
Wondering the same my dad taught me everything I ever learned in trucking!!! But I could see this from his daughter also my daughter would put something like that on my truck. Thank DAN!!!!
Dan keep up the good video's. Quick question why do u carry extra DEF and why not just fill up when u get fuel all together. Where did u get those red cans. Get home safely.
Bugatti The Trucker I can’t with his truck but my def tank from the factory is on the passenger side 90% of the time the def hose is on the drivers side and it does not reach to the tank so it’s a lot easier to do what Dan does.
That's why I'm getting out of trucking after 40 years. People are running for nothing. Companies expect you to make up for other peoples poor planning. People on the road today and I include so called professional drivers take way more chances speeds have increased and peoples temperament seems to have changed. Finally electronic logging will be the death knell for the independent trucker which is what the Government and large companies want.
You need to learn how to adjust your,. Clutch brake. Takes two people to do it right. An check you air bags level. I can here you grinding putting it back in gear. Old video. 11-14-2020 now
I was in Lenoir City TN, on 9/11 at a company starting up a new Robot system. It was an eery ride back to Atlanta down I75.

I’ve had to dead head 400+ miles before. Luckily I got a really good rate on that load so I could still make a little money on that long dead head.
Cool way to handle the DEF tank being on wrong side.

You probably can find a new tarp at harborfrat on line

I was wondering how hard it would be to move the def tank to the left side?
Must b something Pete's done in 2013 if thats the yr of ur ride cause I noticed the 13 models def is on passenger side lol, like the super man hoodie I'm n to the batman n got few diff styles,b safe Mr truck driver

+Luke Atwell

Awesome 200 videos... Dan quick question, why such a big range is the price per mile that you get? Does it depend on the value of the load? Thanks...
Good tune on the intro, who is it?
I was watching Midwest Truck in Iowa do a tow job on a truck that would not start on a very cold morning. They said it turned out the DEP tank was frozen solid. I didn't know DEP freezing was something you had to worry about. Is it true it will freeze?
Bet there's a story about what's writin on the truck cab ( Thank's Dad ) ?
Wondering the same my dad taught me everything I ever learned in trucking!!! But I could see this from his daughter also my daughter would put something like that on my truck. Thank DAN!!!!

+Daniel Loveall
I bought them at my local ace hardware you can also get them on Amazon the are called sure cans
Thanks for watching
Where do 6ou buy your tarps?
Dumb question I know, don't shoot me. But why do all truckers wear gloves when fueling?
Gerry Welch - diesel fuel really doesn’t evaporate so usually the pump nozzles can have residue tank caps get dirty, etc.
Don Leamon thank you for the reply!
