Jon, they are obviously all mind-controlled people, not robots. Your character is the only one who somehow isn't mind-controlled, that's why he has a red light instead of a white light.
Shot in the dark And you're to blame You gave jon, a bad game (bad game) "...a totalitarian nightmare factory. It is not a happy game..." You gave jon, a bad game.
Fallout 4 had an elevator to and from the vault. BioShock has an elevator the bottom of the ocean. Donkey Kong only had ladders, but technology was much more primitive back then.
bit off topic, but seeing your Fallout 1 lp encouraged me to buy the classic collection on steam, love it so far, never would've bought it otherwise. So, thanks!
I think you misunderstand the term "futuristic". Abe's Oddyssee is already both futuristic and dystopian. This is very similar in tone and gameplay, but the setting would be comparatively described as contemporary because it uses human characters and imagery we associate with cultures on Earth.
18:00 In soviet robot hell, we don't believe in silly things like convection. Seriously, why is nobody ever bothered by the blistering heat they should be exposed to that close to *molten metal*? It should be a barbecue in there, just about a thousand degrees hotter!
19:58 JON. in some countries it's far too cold to properly grow corn. in fact, one of Soviet Russia's leaders was inspired by how much corn was grown in America and became obsessed with getting corn to grow in Russia, where it was too damn cold for it.
Jarrad Scarborough I would have said that, but then someone comes up from behind a cabinet saying "wut wait nu das rayscist" because some people think Arab means Muslim and Muslim is a race, not a person within a religious group.
Wow, it's very 'INSIDE'. Which I'm still bummed you said you didn't like. It's about as flawless a game there is. They nailed the atmosphere, ineffable feelings, art, animation, and storytelling. Ugh, I feel weird just remembering it. I do like the 3D part you got to at the end. That could add a whole level of interesting mechanics.
Day 3 of Trying to steal My Twin's Boat: I have stolen only one thing...his wife, she suspects nothing, lets just hope she doesn't figure it out. Twin's Wife name: Viold
if you wait long enough, you'll get a boat FAR better than Jon's boat, it will be fast with it's 3 masts, each supporting a massive area of sail, it will be impossible to hurt with little arrows because of it's (partial) metal armor plating, and it will be armed with SIEGE WEAPONS that are like ballistae but fire heavy shells of iron instead of wooden bolts across massive distances and are so powerful that even the STRONGEST of walls become useless against them! -or you can get Jon's boat which is only armed with a ram and what the men on board are armed with...it's your choice :P
I wouldn't say it is Russia! But close to: Romania, first off in the main menu screen you can see Romania's map , in the first scene with the hammer you can see the portrait of Ceausescu, the leader(? more like king, idk the term, president but in a communist nation) and that the team who created the team is Romanian, but I can't say for sure, it MIGHT be Russia but I think Romania in the communist times
Guys, just a little bit of extra info: The game is made by a Romanian team. The action takes place in Romania. At various moments through the game you see the face of Nicolae Ceausescu (Romania's communist dictator up until 1989) on giant TV screens. You can see the outline of the country right in the main-menu next to the man on the bike. At various moments in the game you can hear actual radio transmissions recorded in the 80's in Romania, the use of Romanian language is everywhere in the game (eg. when you pass behind a guy that stands in front of a huge red phone with the PCR flag on the wall above - you can hear a woman's voice scolding him over the phone). Being a Romanian myself, this game means pretty much because I can see a lot of references to our country's dark past - even though the action is set in an imaginary future. It's some sort of "what could have happened if the communist regime was not overthrown in Romania in 1989"
Jon, why don't you just run through the door when he's looking DOWN instead of when he's looking AWAY? They don't really seem to have peripheral vision you know!
Jon, they are obviously all mind-controlled people, not robots. Your character is the only one who somehow isn't mind-controlled, that's why he has a red light instead of a white light.
I don't think a game set in the dark is going to give any gifts to Jon's legendary perception.
Literally the first thing I do with 90% of games - put brightness up a bit
Yeah, he put all his points in charisma and luck.
I'm pretty sure the figure you're controlling is meant to be a human, it just seems very humanesque the way it moves.
I agree. It's weird how when it dies it turns into a puff of smoke though
Wait, in the first room with the bike every time you use it there was a number counter on the machine that went down...what happens when it hits zero?
... I don't know.
Shot in the dark
And you're to blame
You gave jon, a bad game (bad game)
"...a totalitarian nightmare factory. It is not a happy game..."
You gave jon, a bad game.
First minute is just Jon desperately trying not to say 'I've had my eye on this for a while'
this is just Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee without fart jokes.
I don't know how I feel about this.
Fallout started with an elevator
Fallout 4 did, Fallout did not, that was an airlock.
Remember to save the mudokans
Kinda getting some Oddworld vibes from this. Jolly good.
22:23 The Internationale is the most terrifying of music.
At 22:35 it's playing The Internationale! Nice touch! I love that song.
So, thanks!
Is this game basically a futuristic Abe's Oddysee?
Isn't that already futuristic?
I think you misunderstand the term "futuristic".
Abe's Oddyssee is already both futuristic and dystopian. This is very similar in tone and gameplay, but the setting would be comparatively described as contemporary because it uses human characters and imagery we associate with cultures on Earth.
19:57 Actually Khrushchev tried to grow corn and it didn't go too well.
Reminds me of Odd World Abe's Exodus
Aaaaaand this is as soon as it should be possible to have finished the video
Hey Jon can you play "little nightmares"? It's a horror game but I think you'll like it.
The Gentleman I totally agree
The Gentleman suspenseful adventure game
Up far too late to get up at 5 tomorrow just for this video
This game reminds me of my day to day life, rather than reminding me of Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism
18:00
In soviet robot hell, we don't believe in silly things like convection. Seriously, why is nobody ever bothered by the blistering heat they should be exposed to that close to *molten metal*? It should be a barbecue in there, just about a thousand degrees hotter!
Jon = Why would you give propangda to robots? A = Well your rebellin *lol* :)
10th of july 2017 and I am still waiting for Sims 4 gameplay...
Mats Eng Grønbekk Do they have one-way roads?
lujakunk I really hope so
Where's is fallout 1 Jon
Returns next week - it went on holiday to make room for Star Trek
Awwwww man that's so long
14 straight days without a Fallout video from MATN? I'm going to have withdrawal 😧
Toaster I know lol
Star Trek was ass
19:58 JON. in some countries it's far too cold to properly grow corn. in fact, one of Soviet Russia's leaders was inspired by how much corn was grown in America and became obsessed with getting corn to grow in Russia, where it was too damn cold for it.
This game is all the Metropolis references. Just...all...the Metropolis references.
Prob had you're eye on this for a while
So, Matt's dream world:The game?
Jon, if you haven't played it before you should try out Mount and Blade:Warband, its absolutely excellent and I'm sure you'll love it.
did anyone tell him to get that massive 1 gb mod?
Avenger_00209 Let's pray he doesn't bandwagon Swadia,maybe he'll become a proud Vaegir like me!
Schlotzie *I* am Antero the Nord defector, who joined the Vaegirs...
except that sarranid/sassanid are basically arab, not persian
Jarrad Scarborough I would have said that, but then someone comes up from behind a cabinet saying "wut wait nu das rayscist" because some people think Arab means Muslim and Muslim is a race, not a person within a religious group.
just finished watching the Jon skater boy remix
booper Dooper I wonder if Jon has seen it yet...
he probably hasn't
Well its on the subreddit so I'd assume he either has or will soon.
Good to see Jon has got around to playing Abe's Oddysee...
Paint the Man - Cut the Lines
This game is very similar to Oddworld imho.
even down to the casual shrug when you press the use button without there being anything to use.
In mother Robo Union, Humans work for Robots
Bioshock also started with an elevator (I mean you know... aside from the plane crash), but I consider the start when you get to rapture.
i've heard that if you google Square Enix, on the very last page there will be
the fallout 4 yolo video
Metal Gear Solid has an elevator at the beginning.
Elevating ourselves to new heights, are we?
This is Rupture Farms. I used to work here. Well, I was really a slave, like all the others...
Big MT starts with an elevator...
This is one of those games that are fun to watch but would lead to bite marks in my keyboard if I had to do it myself.
I also didn't like it
"So we're in Soviet Russia as a dystopia?" Jon, Soviet Russia *was* basically a dystopia.
Also I'm distinctly sure the workers are meant to be human. It's more harrowing that way.
The game isn't called Inside, we all know it's called Thatcher's Britain!
It took Jon far too long to notice the similarities to Inside
what happened to fallout 1
*RAR.* -I would like to inform you all that I am still around.-
The Bear -Hello.- GrrrrSnort.
*RAR.* -Greetings other mysteriously sentient bear!-
jon bioshock started with a elevator
Is it related to the older 2D puzzle platformer called The Fall?
So, when i start developing, start my game with an elevator. get ready for the best game you've ever played, Jon.
ELEVATOR: THE GAME
Jon, Why have you never played Kotor on the channel??!!??!
He would have to do a full series rather than a one shot
Minsc And Boo I know but still these videos have fewer views so I wanted him to see it
It would be pretty cool to see him play it!
He said the main reason is he doesn't want to get into copyright issues with Disney
I love these kinds of puzzle games. Did you ever play Framed on iOS?
Jon, you need to play metro 2033/last light. They are really pretty looking survival stealth based apocalypse-y games with an extra dose of vodka.
Wow no kidding, with the Inside vibes.
This reminds me of Abe's Odyssey. I'm less than a minute in so far though.
This reminds me oddly of "9"...
'Metal gear solid' starts with an elevator! There must be more!
Jon, you do realize you're playing a human, right. It suddenly becomes so much worse in that context.
Soooo... this game is inside?
Very oddworld: Abe's oddysee feel to this
Mass Effect also had elevators.
"Soviet Russia as a dystopia" - so, Soviet Russia.
Talking about elevators, don't forget Mass Effect!
Elevators in fallout 4
11:06 we're in soviet Russia as a dystopia ( wouldn't that just be normal soviet Russia insert bu-dung tish)
limbo?
This reminds me of Abe's Oddysee.
Day 3 of Trying to steal My Twin's Boat: I have stolen only one thing...his wife, she suspects nothing, lets just hope she doesn't figure it out.
Twin's Wife name: Viold
noJ larimdA Why bother stealing his ship when you can build a BOAT-er one!
Minsc and Boo Why Would i BOO-ther building?
noJ larimdA because it is easier to do, you just need a NOJ in the right direction!
if you wait long enough, you'll get a boat FAR better than Jon's boat, it will be fast with it's 3 masts, each supporting a massive area of sail, it will be impossible to hurt with little arrows because of it's (partial) metal armor plating, and it will be armed with SIEGE WEAPONS that are like ballistae but fire heavy shells of iron instead of wooden bolts across massive distances and are so powerful that even the STRONGEST of walls become useless against them! -or you can get Jon's boat which is only armed with a ram and what the men on board are armed with...it's your choice :P
There is a Reason I want to steal my brother's boat
My Credit card is there....
It's a nice game, please go on playing it Jon :)
101 ways to die in roboviet union, misery edition
I wouldn't say it is Russia! Also this seems to be miner robots/humans and the revolution that overthrew the Communist Regime is named The Miner's Revolution
Premier may be the term you were looking for?
Guys, just a little bit of extra info:

@Taolan8472 Dictator
The title screen sort of reminded me of Limbo.
YOLO! YOLO! YOLO! Neat game though and oh dear god Jon playing a captain in Star Trek made me piss myself!
13:43 Propanganda joke. Why did the Russian chicken cross the road . Dynamo Kiev
Love the American accent, shame you don't do an entire episode with it.
Where's Benor?
Jon, where is the "fallout new Vegas: doc Mitchell" run? I've been waiting years
this feels inspired by the Oddworld series.
Of everything bad to happen in 2016 the tolberone tragedy was and is the worst
reminds me of the first oddworld game.
Jon, why don't you just run through the door when he's looking DOWN instead of when he's looking AWAY? They don't really seem to have peripheral vision you know!
Very Abe's Odyssey, this. Save those mudokons Jon!
this is a Inside clone
The Red Flag
why robo soviet when you could have said roboviet
This reminds me of limbo mixed with odd world
O now I see all the odd world comments I guess I'm not alone
He should do a survival series on subnautica
Where is fallout episode 16!!??
fallout 4 kind of started with an elevator kind of
When Fallout 4 you have 1 live?
You said fallout would be here yesterday why
... No I didn't. I specifically said Fallout would return next week. Go check the Star Trek video.
Alien Isolation have elevator too.
try hyper light drifter
nothing like this game, but it is a masterpiece, the kind of perfect game that gets studied in college
It reminds me a bit of Abe's Odyssey
Is that a picture of Ceausescu? And if so, why???
How dare you! Mass Effect 1 was 60% percent elevators!
This reminds me alot of Inside Or is it just me lol I Like it! :D
Straight after I comment he says it reminds him of Inside hahaha
where is Fallout Sunday gameplay????
Jon do a survival series on subnautica
