I think it depends on how Arteta wants to use Havertz and Trossard going forward, not to mention what happens with Smith-Rowe, Vieira, and Partety. If Smith-Rowe and Vieria both leave its possible Arteta uses Trossard and Havertz to fill any midfield gaps against teams that play a low block, then he can use funds on a player that can play across the front. If Partey also leaves then I think he's forced to find a natural 6 for depth.
After watching Zubimendi in the final, he impressed me a lot to be honest. I think we should seriously consider him as he definitely had a positive impact on the game for Spain, he would fit in with what Mikel wants and the way we play in my opinion.

Unfortunately, selling ESR represents a "pure profit" sale that helps to balance the books for FFP and PSR regulations. Selling Viera does not. I want to keep ESR but if he is to be sold, I am glad a £30million bid from Fulham was turned down. We need to change the culture of players leaving for free or cheap.

(.a partnership ready made $80- 100 mill worth it) .. so with Partey back in good fitness, J20 , Rice and Odegaarde that's our midfield sorted , ( for premier league, champions league and domestic cup games we are fully covered for injury /rotation) - with Califiori that's our defence sorted... then spend big on a forward ( striker or top class winger) and the tropihes will be ours... yes , it's that simple

he cant, hes not robust enough to play there for Arsenal. Arteta asks alot more running, stamina & distance from his MFs. When he moves into midfield from LB, hes great at breaking the lines from deep, that wouldnt be his job at 8 as he would be moved further forward. "yeah well he plays there for Ukraine" you may say. Looks like hes actually moved to LB now at Ukraine and International football is less demanding than PL football anyway. Calafiori certainly has ability to be that midfielder role (as stated by ex serie A if i'm not mistaken) and he has great ability to go forward. I could see Timber also taking up that role with Calafiori being left back. Either option allowing Rice to go more forward.
Laconga have option at 12 means they get first shout does it not even if he is then valued at 25. Guendouzi was same. Tavares won't make it and will bring in nothing down the line imo

Arsenal should focus to buy Fabian Ruiz instead of this guy. Fabian play at PSG and he didn't perform well at PSG so far but his playing performance together with Rodri was amazing. Arsenal need to play Rice with Fabian in the middle to be winning champion. It might not be easy to get him away from PSG but atleast they have to try it.
So sad that Southgate has resigned. He has done really well and has built a fantastic base of players. My personal belief is that he has selected more widely than any national team manager that i can remember. The inclusion of two Palace players in this tournament was something that I am not used to. The Euros were difficult for us to win. We turned over cheaply too often. Our left wing was a bit of a challenge, Trippier not being a natural there. We lost by fine margins despite that challenge. I think it would be seriously unwise to miss out on Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri's talents. They need nurturing. I am not sure about Lewis Skelly as a six, but he looks like a decent full back. If we cut the number of passes available to him he has every chance of becoming England's left back solution by the next world cup. It is up to him to play as well as he can and put in the extra effort to do so. I would happily play Nwaneri for progressively improving periods any time we have a 2 goal buffer, in my opinion he needs to play at every sensible moment. Either resting Rice or shifting him to the six position.
Chelsea play Connor Gallagher. Arsenal hardly ever play Smith-Rowe. Gallagher was playing for England recently. Smith-Rowe was probably getting another tattoo. When Arteta makes it clear that he doesn't want a player, nobody is going to offer his true value.

if calafiori becomes official, he should be the starting left back for league and ucl, zinchenko should slide as backup in midfield, and timber-kiwior should cover our starting cb (gabriel-saliba) during league and ucl matches, and our starting center back in fa cup and carabao cup matches. with that, the club can keep kiwior in arsenal jersey and helps timber to settle down and ease those knees. and i hope edu and arteta finds a replacement for partey and squad players in midfield for esr, elneny, and lokonga. a proper cover for saka and a clinical striker. and they should also find replacement for nelson and nkteah. maybe promoting academy players will help boost the squad.
Merino isn’t the player for us in my humble opinion. Hardly an upgrade on Xhaka. Would rather invest in a younger talent if the options for an experienced player aren’t available. What do you think ?
Release clauses for Dani Olmo and Nico Williams is under 100m combined. Looking at wages of 400k a week (unfortunately) for the two combined. But you won't get players of this calibre for so cheap so the wages can be a bit higher. Sell ESR and we recoup 40 in transfer fees alone and shed this wages. No trainer for me and we fill the CM hole as well as stiff competition for Martinelli and Saka.
@BeforeThisNovember Olmo is at 150k and Williams is at 181k (earned that about 6 months ago). Not inconceivable for him to agree a 50k bump to 230k and Dani to agree an 80k bump to 230k too). So not quite 400k, but around 460k. Keep in mind, Odegaard and Rice are on 240k...so that ball park is about right.
Where are you hearing that??? To put it into context, even Man City have just 4 players making over 275k...and they may shed 2 of those. With PSR, I think it will be hard to offer crazy wages going forward. But all we can do is speculate. I would not pay over the 230k/240k for either...and 285k for Havertz was a mistake

. Go for the 2 Sociedad Midfielders , Merino AND Zubimendi. (.a partnership ready made $80- 100 mill worth it) .. so with Partey back in good fitness, J20 , Rice and Odegaarde that's our midfield sorted , ( for premier league, champions league and domestic cup games we are fully covered for injury /rotation) - with Califiori that's our defence sorted... then spend big on a forward ( striker or top class winger) and the tropihes will be ours... yes , it's that simple

If we could get Merino, i think Zubimendi's a possibility . Arteta , fellow Spaniard and admirer of that club and the 2 players, could make it happen. Zubimendi's a bit of a Spanish "homebody" ( doesn't want to leave Spain is what i'm hearing...but if his midfield buddy comes to Arsenal.... i like the idea anyway. . That's our midfield sorted with a rejuvenated and fit Partey , J20 , Rice, Odegaard plus the 2 Spaniard,s, that's all the competitions this coming season covered in midfield, Califiori rounds off our defence, then after that we just need a quality striker /forward

Zubimendi is a key player at the club he actually supports who are doing well - he doesn't actually WANT to move.
I was thinking about arsenal pushing for bruno guimares but seeing his high price, i think arsenal should go for adam wharton. That dude is a baller, plus crystal palace might be willing to accept around 50m for him. I believe the dude could play as a defensive midfielder and as an 8 like xhaka did. I respect merino, but if arsenal wants to win big trophies, they need to sign world class players or young players who have the strong potential to be world class. Calafiori, Wharton, and Gyokeres fits the bill. And arsenal should not think of selling partey. Jesus can play saka's wing so i don't see a need for buying someone to compete with saka when what you are looking for is already with you. Arsenal's biggest priority right now is a combative (dominant) midfielder that can play as a defensive midfielder and as an 8 (so that the fear of injury to rice or partey would be out of the way), and a strikers who just wants to destroy the net.

In the Arsenal training video from yesterday, there were no Jesus and Vieira on the pitch… do you think that was down to the video being cut or because they have some issues?

Why buy a 28yo Merino when we have Zinchenko who i believe can play as a left 8. He typically moves into midfield during games. We are also after Calafiori, have Timber and Tomiyasu as cover at lb. We need a Joao Neves calibre signing!
he cant, hes not robust enough to play there for Arsenal. Arteta asks alot more running, stamina & distance from his MFs.
When he moves into midfield from LB, hes great at breaking the lines from deep, that wouldnt be his job at 8 as he would be moved further forward.

We have so many players that are good but not good enough for Arsenal but they get played so little that they have bad values so who do we blame for this as all of us want to win every game. MA is doing what he thinks he must do to win but imo he is making it impossible for the transfer team to get any decent funds for outgoing players. Any opinions?

If we sign Merino to start alongside Rice and Odegaard in midfield, we would be left with Partey, Jorginho and Vieira (assuming ESR will be sold) - I think this would represent great midfield depth. Selling Partey would leave us light in terms of depth in the 6/8 position, so i definitely think we should keep him. Interested to see what Charles Watts thinks on this one.

Hey Charles, do you see a situation where we have either Timber or Calafiori as our holding midfielder? Calafiori certainly has ability to be that midfielder role (as stated by ex serie A if i'm not mistaken) and he has great ability to go forward. I could see Timber also taking up that role with Calafiori being left back. Either option allowing Rice to go more forward.

Arsenal should focus to buy Fabian Ruiz instead of this guy. Fabian play at PSG and he didn't perform well at PSG so far but his playing performance together with Rodri was amazing. Arsenal need to play Rice with Fabian in the middle to be winning champion. It might not be easy to get him away from PSG but atleast they have to try it.

So sad that Southgate has resigned. He has done really well and has built a fantastic base of players. My personal belief is that he has selected more widely than any national team manager that i can remember. The inclusion of two Palace players in this tournament was something that I am not used to.
The Euros were difficult for us to win. We turned over cheaply too often. Our left wing was a bit of a challenge, Trippier not being a natural there. We lost by fine margins despite that challenge.
I think it would be seriously unwise to miss out on Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri's talents. They need nurturing. I am not sure about Lewis Skelly as a six, but he looks like a decent full back. If we cut the number of passes available to him he has every chance of becoming England's left back solution by the next world cup. It is up to him to play as well as he can and put in the extra effort to do so. I would happily play Nwaneri for progressively improving periods any time we have a 2 goal buffer, in my opinion he needs to play at every sensible moment. Either resting Rice or shifting him to the six position.

The problem will be getting anyone interested in Vieira. He hasn't played for so long! I believe Arteta might play him this season, with a view to sell next season if he doesn't improve. Alternatively, Vieira might get loaned out.
if calafiori becomes official, he should be the starting left back for league and ucl, zinchenko should slide as backup in midfield, and timber-kiwior should cover our starting cb (gabriel-saliba) during league and ucl matches, and our starting center back in fa cup and carabao cup matches. with that, the club can keep kiwior in arsenal jersey and helps timber to settle down and ease those knees. and i hope edu and arteta finds a replacement for partey and squad players in midfield for esr, elneny, and lokonga. a proper cover for saka and a clinical striker. and they should also find replacement for nelson and nkteah. maybe promoting academy players will help boost the squad.

Release clauses for Dani Olmo and Nico Williams is under 100m combined. Looking at wages of 400k a week (unfortunately) for the two combined.
But you won't get players of this calibre for so cheap so the wages can be a bit higher. Sell ESR and we recoup 40 in transfer fees alone and shed this wages.
No trainer for me and we fill the CM hole as well as stiff competition for Martinelli and Saka.

@BeforeThisNovember Olmo is at 150k and Williams is at 181k (earned that about 6 months ago). Not inconceivable for him to agree a 50k bump to 230k and Dani to agree an 80k bump to 230k too). So not quite 400k, but around 460k. Keep in mind, Odegaard and Rice are on 240k...so that ball park is about right.
