Although I am not an athlete, I absolutely fell in love with your channel and I can relate so much!!! I suffered from HA when I was 14 when I developed disordered eating, and I regained my period after that. However, my cycle lasts 40-50 days and I suspect it is because I am still trying to hold my body below my optimum weight. I have "ideal" BMI, but other than that, I suffer from all the symptioms you talk about, suggesting I should gain weight. I think you should emphasize more than what you talk about is relevant not only for athletes, but for ALL of us who might have kept ourselves in an (even the slightest) energy deficit for a while... I hope many more people discover your fantastic channel!!💚

I totally appreciate the interview and the knowledge that was shared. I am of the mind "why does it matter?" I understand that bone health and possibly mental health are impacted by HA, but that does not bother me - I am under the impression I can supplement for this. I've been seeing a therapist for this for about 3 months for the "why" and see no improvement or mental shift. Maybe I am dense, but I don't see why I should care that my body does not have a period, I am comfortable in my own skin.

In video 2 she explains why you need to care. Endocrine health is responsible for overall health and longevity. Being out of balance compromises this for life. You are not able to effectively supplement for the systemic detriments caused by not making hormones. Without adequate estrogen production, research tells us that you are likely to suffer heart, bone, and cognitive health disorders. You may be more likely to end up with dementia and heart disease. There is no supplement for any of this. I would think that all of the above would make you quite uncomfortable.

I wonder if this « I don’t care » mentality might be caused by HA itself... making it harder to heal. You know what I mean?

@@laurencelussierlocas Excellent point/thought. Most days I truly don't care, being rawly honest
