I've had a few comments about my choice of thread when quilting this project. I chose a thread that blends in with the background fabric, as I usually would when quilting a background however it didn't work out quite as well for filming purposes. Sorry about that! In any case, the circular sewing attachment made ist super easy to add decorative "quilting" stitches to this project.

I used to just watch your channel when I needed a question about my Janome M7 answered or instructions on how to master a technique or employ a new foot or imliment on my M7, but I have discovered your tutorials on free hand quilting and other sewing ideas and tips--and, find, I'm enjoying your deliberate, thoughtful, well executed lessons.
    Thank you.

@@Chatterboxquilts You do! As a retired teacher, I can see all the prep, background lesson planning you do behind the scenes!
Just know, when I watch, I see and appreciate that as well (maybe that's part of the fun of watching your uploads, is being aware of the effort behind the production that you so seamlessly do)!

Oh brother, I never would have even thought about doing quarter or half circles with the circular attachment, what a game changer, I'm going to order the circular attachment for my M7 today! BTW, I LOVE my M7 and thank you so much for making videos with it, they're very, very helpful!

You can do so many things with the circular sewing attachment and I had fun combining it with free motion quilting on this small project.

I don't have a anM7, but I have a Skyline 9. I found that when using my circular attachment with a machine I had used previously that trying to sew a decorative stitch that goes frontwards and backwards, you can make a big mess. I would end up with an oval. Just thought I would mention this even though this video was made 3 years ago, but if someone doesn't know this, it might same some grief. Or they should certainly check out their stitch on a practice piece.

Awesome explanation of using Dual Feed Setting! Thank you!

I remember doing this with a thumtack taped onto my machine deck or the table to poke through the fabric with a torn off pencil eraser on top to anchor it. Total cost maybe a dollar? Put painters tape under the tack so you don't mar your surface.

This was great! Thank you very much. Can you show us how you appliqué? I know there are lots of stitches but it would be great to see you do something similar with appliqués as you have done on this video. Thank you!

I do have some videos on my appliqué technique - I do raw edge appliqué. I also have a complete step by step course that is available in The Quilter's Way and will be available soon to purchase as a stand-alone course on my Chatterbox Quilts' website.

Can’t really see your lines of stitching. Maybe next time use a color that contrasts with your fabric. 😊
I have used the circular attachment and it is a quick and easy way to quilt bags, doing different sized circles and overlapping them. A more modern flare for a bag.
Also you can add a see through layer of fabric in the overlapped sections of the circles!
    Very cool attachment! 😀

Good point. I was trying to show how it would look when you are doing actual background stitching as you would typically use a colour that matches your background fabric.

Will this circular attachment work on other Janome machine?

    • @Chatterboxquilts

It does work on the 9400 and 9450 models as well. There are other parts available for other Janome models. Check with your local Janome dealer to get the right one for your particular model.

What a wonderful video! Just subscribed. Came here from my Janome Life email. Thanks! Love, love my circular sewing attachment. The same part number (202-135-007) is what to use with my Janome Skyline 9 machine. I can't wait to watch more of your videos :-)
