    My wife and I have traveled to Los Cabos for 20 years and moved down 3 years ago. Check out Casa Don Rodrigo and try the fettuccine made with their farm made cheese and how they prepare it at your table. There are 3 farm to table restaurants. Our favorite is Las Tamarindos, which is more rustic and less commercial. If you’re lucky one of the staff will walk you through their garden and select items for a specialty drink. Salude!

    Spent a week last summer at the Westin Los Cabos--FABULOUS!! 2-bedroom timeshare with more square footage than my own townhome in CA! Took a day trip to San Jose del Cabo, a very sweet town, and had a great lunch at Jazmine's right in the center. Colorful Mexican washbowl and toiletbowl in this large restaurant (what a thing to remember!). Recognized your town square right away with its beautiful (closed) church and the colorful shops/galleries along the narrow streets. I realize our experience wasn't at all about finding reasonable permanent housing but kudos to you for your unexpected choice and sense of adventure. Liked San Jose del Cabo more than Cabo; we slipped in and out during a COVID lull and cherish our "find." We heartily recommend the area! Best wishes as an Expat!

      @@laura-bronner I saw your whale watching trip in Cabo. You are in a great location for fishing offshore too. Tuna and Dorado come in quite close to shore down there. Not sure if it is too early for Dorado but I am sure some other species are biting. Hire a Panga for a day and you will come back with fresh fish and a great video.

      @@laura-bronner It ain't as nice as San Jose Del Cabo. Less to do, very isolated, and more expensive I feel like. A nice visit if you're driving but I'd rate La Paz and San Jose Del Cabo over it. For me it's maybe a one night stay if driving.

    • @kirstenvogel9620

      Yes, I did love Loreto. And La Paz. My brother flew down and we were traveling and stayed in Loreto. He wakes me up too early, "You wouldn't believe all the dolphins jumping right near shore!". That's Mexico, beautiful, good people, great food, hot.

    Two restaurants away from the beach that I liked : HANGMAN for the atmosphere and live music
    TAQUERIA ROSSY for excellent food at low, low prices
    Also you've got to check out the excellent Saturday Food Market ( if it's still happening in these days of Covid)

    I had visited San Jose del cabo in the 1980's loved it, of course it was a sleepy little town then, The scuba diving is fantastic, you don't need a boat, many places its fifty feet deep 30 yards off the beach.

      Mask, snorkel and fins and you enter a new world. I followed a large strange fish to see him better, then he turned around and headed towards me. I got away quick as I could and learned not to be impolite in his lair.

    We love San Jose del Cabo! Just returned from there to the States where we encountered snow, ice, and no power to our house for three days after two different flight cancellations. We look forward to being back in Mexico in just a few months after we find a long-term rental that fits our needs.

    Very cool. Been going there for over a decade. Nice to see the hotel you stayed in finally open. I've been watching them try to renovate that place for years. Go check out the estuary on your way down to the beach. You'll likely see some interesting wildlife there. Also, take the bus over to the marina in San Jose. There are a few nice places to eat and things to see. Lastly, try to get a ride out to the East Cape. You'll find miles of nearly uninhabited pristine beaches. Enjoy!

    I stayed there for a few days last year and loooved it! Stayed right downtown in the art district at an extension of El Encanto that’s literally right next to a fabulous restaurant Jardin Secreto. It’s interesting how some of the restaurants are open/closed on random nights. Also had a good dinner at Choriarte. And fabulous lunch at a food truck just off the central plaza going towards the beach called Pato Buzo cevicheria.

    As was mentioned in another comment, take in the art walk tonight (Thursday). I'm in san Jose at this moment and will be strolling through the streets (closed to traffic) but first stopping at La Dolce restaurant. Yes, I know, when in Rome but this place serves up some fantastic Italian dishes as well as the Mexican feasts. As far as beaches, you're already familiar with Playa Costa Azul but heading back toward San Lucas (about 15-20 minutes) is Playa Chilena. About another 5 minutes from there, still going toward San Lucas is Playa Santa Maria. Playa Santa Maria is a bit different to get to as you must go beyond to the next "returno" to now head back toward San Jose. Only one sign for the exit. Both are fantastic public beaches. Hope you enjoy San Jose; I don't live here but return about 4-5 times at different times of the year

    • @kirstenvogel9620
      @kirstenvogel9620 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome, both beaches are fabulous. Put a mask on and freak yourself out when you see the whole time you've been surrounded by 1,000 different fish, well some move in pools. Only once did I bring the frozen bag of peas. I was trapped and more were coming so I threw the peas as far as I could and swam the other way. lol. Good times.

    Congratulations on moving to San Jose del Cabo! You will love the area, we have had a home down in Cabo San Lucas for over 20 years. you have only just begun to explore, there are great places to visit and eat especially once you get to the back roads of both towns, and you will find great beaches less crowded than Medando beach in San lucas -- check out Playa de Chilano, one of our favorite. Also the hotel 624 you stayed at I believe the 624 stands for the area code
    When you head to Los Barilles be sure to check out La Playa restaurant right on the beach, next to Exokite.

    I've been living here for 2+ years now. Welcome! It really is paradise I never want to leave. Restaurants/bars my favorites are Casa Guaycura, Habanero's (new location downtown) and Teo's is pretty good too more for the atmosphere I find their food greasy. Hiking there's a mountain on Blvd Flojadores called Cerro De Las Chivas there's a beautiful view at the top and most hikers start as early as 5am. There's also a bike trail that connects into to there and all over even the beach. I live in Chamizal the rents here are a little cheaper and it's also very walkable.

      I find that FB marketplace has great listings, especially the all-Spanish ads with the price listed in pesos. I also saw many places with signs out whilst walking and exploring to get a feel of different neighbourhoods: if you strike a conversation with the owner of the corner panaderia and mention you’re looking, she might very well know neighbours interested in renting - I know of a few ladies who did just that when they spotted a place which had been empty for a while and asked around. Someone died and nobody thought about renting out the house, they were happy to find someone. The other house was sitting empty while it was on sale, she lived there renting for half a year and ended up buying it at a very good price because she got along so well with her neighbours and the daughter of the owners. I can’t recommend learning Spanish enough, it really opens doors! 🤗🇲🇽

Having lived all over Mexico before I settled in Vegas '82, I find your videos more accurate than most! Buenas suerte to you both! I hope to be there for my cumpleanos- 4/20, como no? lol My biz partner was the NOTARIO for Cabo.

    Seems like rentals should be cheaper right now during Covid since tourism is down and the demand is not as high, am I missing something?

    • @shea5702
      @shea5702 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's what I thought but it seems people are trying to make up for the lost income by raising rents. I'm in Zihuatanejo.

    • @laura-bronner
      @laura-bronner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think because there are a lot more people looking for longer term furnished rentals than ever - staying longer and traveling slower than before so there's actually a shortage of these sort of rentals - at least at the lower end of the budget spectrum.

    You will need a mountain bike since near your department there a lot of sites to see, for example the Marina at Puerto Los Cabos there are a great beach area there, also there a nice place Floras Farm its a expensive breakfast buffet but very good and healthy, also you can visit the part of San Jose Viejo, whre most local live and there are local restaurant with local prices, and near your department near Tacos el Paisa there is Toro Güero a Sea Food place Mazatlan Style with good prices and excelent food, in San Jose near the Telmex buildng there a Mexican resturant and the Municipal Marker where locals buy fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables and in front of the market you can buy freshly made flour tortillas, I miss San Jose del Cabo.

    If you rent for a month or more, AirBnb gives big discounts, often 50%

    • @laura-bronner
      @laura-bronner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea - the person renting you the apartment is usually offering that discount, not Airbnb. The fees for Airbnb remain roughly the same (still about $150 overall for a month's stay).

      @@laura-bronner yes, but, Flora has become very touristy and now the food quality has diminished. You definitely should go to Los Tamarindos, the original farm-to-table restaurant that has far superior tasting food. But Flora is worth going to just to see the whole operation, very impressive. Also, next door is Acre, another very impressive place visually with just okay food relative to the superior instagram-worthy grounds it sits on.
