Most beautiful building in NY. Been in it many times.

Back when I lived it NYC my boyfriend and myself were walking by. We walked in and asked if we could take a look around. The only people there were the receptionist and concierge. No problem. Cannot believe you have to book a tour now.

I love this building! Thank you, Peg Breen, for this beautiful tribute! I do remember playing a party once in a room up on one of the top floors. Magnificent!

What a magnificent building! I never knew much about the Woolworth building, but it is by far, one of the most beautiful structures on earth.

Skyscrapers CAN be beautiful! it's just that for utility purposes, its easier to treat people like human-ants in glass-mound towers

Nor did I, although I shopped at the store in Chicago most of my life. I still have a sweater I brought in my late teen's in the 80's.

It’s a shame that the public cannot walk through the lobby free of charge :(

Used to be that way, but they'll take any money they can now, and there's the fact that people crowding through one of the last remaining and most well known beaux-arts buildings in New York would be a hindrance and a nuisance. I don't know if they're making a profit anymore, and their's the fact that the building's original mega-corporation inhabitant, similar to what's now Walmart, is no longer inhabiting it as a headquarters thus keeping up with the maintenance costs, then there's the shift from material prices being the majority of the costs to labor taking it's place, not to mention the much more limited market to disperse costs for terracotta replacement (which may be apart of the labor cost). If you can take 100 people on average on a tour of the building, and maybe redirect some personnel to achieve such, every 1-2 hours for $20 you'll make $10,000 after 1 day, multiply that by 365 days in a year (being HUGELY optimistic) it provides for an earning potential of $3.6 million.
Though for all I know I could be blowing smoke because I don't know much about the building's tenants, in addition to other factors which might offer other sources of income.

Andrew Bartels honestly it’s not that much and it’s New York.
