Great video .....love the Jerry guitar. I use a GR 55 which is the mac daddy of all the roland guitar synths.....the GR 20 is an early guitar synth , one Jerry likely owned back in the mid to late 80s.......not MIDI btw.
Thank you! The MIDI input on the GR-20 can be used to trigger the internal GR-20 sound generator with note on/off and pitch messages, as well as patch and bank switching. From what I recall, the GR-20 does convert the 13-pin signal from the guitar to MIDI note on/off and pitch messages which trigger the internal sound generator on the GR-20. Also from what I've read, the MIDI input on the GR-55 can be used to only switch patches and banks, and can not trigger the GR-55 sound generator. The GR-20 manual page 30 talks about Local Control ON/OFF and using an external sequencer to trigger the GR-20 sound generator. cdn.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/GR-20GK_OM.pdf The sounds on the GR-20 are very 80s sounding.
@PHREDinstruments I remember when Jer started using guitar synths at shows......the space segments were never the same.....retrofuturisim ....sounds very dated now but it was very advavced sounding at that time.
