I find it ironic because Nipsey had been known the music industry for many years as well, but it wasn’t until the age of 33 that the world knew of him and his gifts. Unfortunately it was too late, but we get the privilege of watching D Smoke pick up where Nip left off. No pressure on him, but it’s just noted that they very similar gifts and ambitions.

He simply had the most clear vision and understanding of who he is and how he wanted to be viewed throughout the entire Rhythm + Flow series. All the other artists had no clue who they were or were still figuring out who they truly are as the show went on. It's obvious why the most people connected with the entire package of him as an artist, because he left absolutely no room for anybody to question his integrity. With that being said, there were some extremely talented artists on the show. Flawless came the closest to truly expressing who he really was as a person through his art, but even with him, it seemed like he was still discovering himself with each challenge. That could be based in the fact that the later rounds were out of his element as an artist, and presented more of a challenge for him. But D Smoke has already put out solid work in those settings, prior to the show. But nonetheless, there's a reason why those two were easily the last two standing, literally. Much love and appreciation for the insight of this interview and allowing D Smoke the fully invite us into his perspective of the show. This was by far the most telling and perceptive after show interviews yet. Thank you!

"one of them is a ghost artist for the other". but then I thought it through again... maybe it's out of pure coincidence they sound alike and D Smoke never signed with TDE because it might confuse people and take away from his own star appeal. Being introduced to the world on the Rhythm + Flow platform would keep him from living in someone else's shadow and maximise his potential. But who knows... the way the industry is set up, anything is possible.
