For all those who are getting a Brittney, you need to remember to teach them to stay and point, not to run after it. They're not to hard to train if you have a few treats with you but it does take time. I have a Brittney and he's great.
Great dog very impressive reminds me of my first female Brandy rest in peace. You are doing the right thing starting them early you're doing the right thing by making it fun for him keeping him interested I noticed one time he did pick his head up when I take a motorcycle or aloud vehicle drove by but I'm impressed at 52 days old that he took his head away for a second and paid it no mind and concentrated on the scent again which is basically bread into their DNA. So what you doing is great introducing him to his natural instinct but a little constructive criticism and this is coming from a veteran of training Brittany's for the past 30 years never ever used any other dog after a while don't praise him when he pounces at the wing. I don't know if you're going to use the whoa command but when he goes on point like he has been start introducing them to The welcome inn before you know it seasonal come and your bag will be full of birds. I remember I hunted my first Britney Brandy at 6 months old barely six months old the third day after opening day and I remember all these Old-Timers coming up next to me and looking at my dog saying boy you're crazy you're going to get that dog killed, meanwhile me and my buddy got smug looks on her face because her first point was a covey of quail about 50 or 60 where we limited out 7 a piece and then two cock birds a piece within the first two hours of hunting mean while they have these four thousand German shorthaired pointers the big beeper collars the radar shock collar all that nonsense. And me and my buddy kept it old school had a bell that I had found in the field before I bought the dogs and an old leather collar my grandfather left me from his first Brittany. But great job keep on Happy hunting.
SO CUTE I MIGHT DIE! i'm getting my first dog/puppy in nine days! its going to be a 7 week old French Brittany a lot like this one! I cant wait in till I get my first dog!
You want to train a Brit get this book ,gun dog by Richard Wollters, you can't get a better Brit, I've had Britt's my whole life until now,but my Brit would put any and I mean any birdog to shame!!!! Unfortunately I lost her years ago, If you really want to train a good birdog that book will tell you everything you need to know!!!
This reminds me of running around with a sock tied to rope when my Brittany was a puppy 9 years ago. I was 4 then. I miss the days where he was so tiny and my and I would fight over who got to hold him. 2 years later we got a Black Labrador and both are a lot of work to this day, but dogs are worth the investment. They're so much fun and a great companion
This is good. I suggest you retain this video or take a pic, then put this wing-on-a-string-thing away until your next dog. I've seen MANY pups start out on the wrong "paw" because of this process. I would like to add - for Gino's sake - that you revisit this video. Early on, you tell him "good dog" at the wrong time to support the intent. First of all, most EVERY pup/dog owner talk too much to their dogs. All this verbal run-on buries the message at the core of the training! Specifically, you allowed Gino to chase and then he "pointed". Then, when he BROKE point, you said, "Good dog"! ??? In fact, you rewarded Gino in the act of chasing rather than pointing. Later in the video, when Gino held for a longer window of time, you caught up and rewarded him (verbally) when he was in fact pointing. Timing is critical when training dogs. It's a lot easier to not speak and allow the dog to learn without obstruction. It's fine to support/mark what you want but otherwise, allow this pup to learn/process from his choices. He is a nice pup! Where did you get him?
lukelionden People usually just call them Brittanies. The AKC dropped the "Spaniel" in its name in 1982 because its more of a hunting pointer than a Spaniel retriever.
good for making mittons hats good for making coats scafs socks too .first you need a spinning wheel to make the dogs furr out of cloths well like for instance thee Afghanistan hound dog you can make hats scarfs socks mitts coats jackets .
He is so precious and small and so sweet I am in love💕❤️💕❤️

Good dog. The best bird dog I ever had was a Brittany.
For the last 14 years, we've had 4 Brittanys. Last one is gone now. Great dogs. If we ever decide to get more, we will only get a Brittany
I’m very impressed. I have a new boy about the same age. How did you train Gino to come so well at seven weeks?
