    I remember Wasim Akram's second test in 1985, when he terrorised New Zealand and took 10 wickets. From there he just became better and better. I'm a pace/swing bowler and I have a lot of heroes, but the king of them all is Wasim Akram. He did things that seemed impossible, he bowled with fire and pace, and he could out think his opponents. The 1992 World Cup is probably my favourite sporting tournament of all time, and Akram played a big part in his team's success. Legend.

    • @lukonium
      @lukonium 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@chicagoan6342 Waqar was incredible as well, with that trademark reverse inswinging yorker and outright pace. For an average sized guy he had so much aggression and attitude but was also a role model on and off the field. Waqar tended to bowl "along" the deck but when he got the short ball out it was vicious. There was so much to like about his approach to cricket.
      It was really a golden age of cricket with the great fast bowling partnerships of Wasim/Waqar and Courtney/Curtly and so many other big players at the time.

    Wasim Akram had once said that the hat trick ball that he had bowled to Mahela Jayawardene was intended to be an inswinger...but if you try to put to much swing on the ball it goes the other way i.e. an outswinger. As luck would have it, Mahela edged the ball and the rest is history. The greatest bowler the world has ever seen and my childhood sports idol - the great Wasim Akram! Love from India

He has barely played any decent length of cricket for anyone to judge him. 46 odi wickets at an average of 34 definitely rules him out of contention for even a mention next to Akram. lol Tendulkar who hardly ever bowled has around 150 ODi wickets. Tests yes I agree, Asif was quite good but again, with a haul of 100 wickets, you can hardly compare him to a legend like Akram. I would rather say Irfan Pathan had some thing close to Akram, but just barely

    Look at the glare and happiness on the face of Imran after Waseem's hattrick against Windies. This was the sign of a Captain and a father figure.
