    Fish are getting bigger, nice. Rain, that's what we need in Adelaide right now. I look forward to seeing the inside of that mutant sweet potato :)

      Still working on the PDF. We ended up losing power for a few days but hope to finish it off by mid next week.
      Cheers Shawn & thank for the support. 👍

      We were very lucky here Jennifer. There will be a video posted over the weekend looking at the flood levels.

      😅 OK. The water was slowed so there's no major erosion in the back yard. We're very happy we got it done now & very glad we didn't go with concrete all the way down.

    Hi Rob, how are you doing? I'm from Jamaica and I'm start aquaponics a month ago, but I'm having problems finding the right son or gravel I did the vinegar test that I saw on your channel and all of the them feel. I want to know if I am not using fish and I'm just Liquid Fertilizer if that can work?

    My PH doser is nearly running non stop at the moment. Insane amounts of rain here.

    • @heathersmith8464

      Which pH doser do you use?

    • @RobsAquaponics
      @RobsAquaponics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I started to dose again on Tuesday. The pH of the rain water was 8.3 which really surprised me Owen. Bryan suggested on the supporters hangout that it may have something to do with the amount of ash from the Tongan volcano still hanging around.

    are you able to use the simple "pH up" and "pH Down" bottles to manage your pH levels? ive been doing it with mine to get my pH into range before i put some silver perch in it, just diluting some into water and then adding it in over the course of the day i figure wouldn't be too much of a shock to the fish??

    • @RobsAquaponics
      @RobsAquaponics  ปีที่แล้ว

      I only ever use a pH up in the form of a bicarbonate or hydroxide. The ones I use are potassium bicarbonate & calcium hydroxide as they also add elements that aren't in high amounts in the fish feed so the plants can sometimes become deficient.
      pH down generally isn't needed in a system once it gets growing as the nitrification process consumes alkalinity which in turn reduces the pH.
      How much you add will depend on the size of the system & how much feed the fish are getting.

    Why aren’t you using fruit juice or would Ash to adjust your pH

    • @RobsAquaponics
      @RobsAquaponics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would use acid not juice if I needed to lower pH. Citric acid can have an antibiotic affect which isn't good in aquaponics.
      I prefer to use the hydroxide & carbonates as they also add other elements like calcium.
      Cheers.

      Is this in an existing aqua system or one you're looking at building? The reason I ask is there's different ways to tackle it depending on your situation.
