Hope and sorrow intertwined. Sunrise? Sunset? Some arise, some too upset. Unveil your sun my old spark Or does night linger? If shadows cling I`ll spew light Once again all shall ascend. To fall again then soar . Circles humans can`t control Embrace the night without fright Because darkness can`t exist minus the light. ------------------------- This was my friend`s favourite song back then. It played to whoever rang her phone. I remember the first time I called her and how part of me wished she wouldn`t pick up so I could hear the song in its entirity. But when she answered, hearing her say my name just made me feel complete. That`s when I knew...
So lovely. Thinking about the Ohio River in spring and my father growing up near it and my late brother Ralph now floating above somewhere. Blessings for this .
Excellent cover, respectful of the original intent and yet highly creative. As a videographer, I also really appreciated the poetic use of the river of painting. Excellent choice of guitar as well. Fantastic work. I hope to make my own cover, with a cellist, and my own video. I was planning on doing so anyway, but now I am really inspired.
Me encanta Brian Eno... caray... me hace sentir sublime, me hace sentirme viva, me hace llorar en la agonía de la felicidad y renacer en la sonrisa del llanto sutil de un enamorado.
If you give yourself the chance, this will genuinely take you away. I have come back to this many times. Each time I think the last time was just a dream, almost made up, I listen again. And into the nothingness again. I cannot explain it

By This River is my favorite Brian Eno song. I admire that anyone thought to do a cover, so points for that. Having said that, I felt that the tones used on the guitar were way too harsh. I would've gone with the neck pick-up only, with the tone knob pretty low, and I would've moved the E-bow away from being over the pick-ups...probably more on the neck. And no distortion. The distortion on this version kinda sounds like that used on another Eno song, Sky Saw. And more reverb on the lead lines...to soften the harshness of the harmonizer.
Schrecklich unheimlich. Unheimlich schrecklich. Das Gefühl hierbei.
You're not quite feeling the rhythm of Eno's composition. The duration between the last three strums of The Phrase should not be equal like in your video. The second strum ought to be played closer to the first, so that the third strum (always with a bigger sustain and always quieter or louder than the other two via Eno's keys) is provided with a sort of a delay and special meaning, letting the music convey a sense of inevitability, hinted at by the waterflow of any river, so too of This that Brian sat by. Not for nothing does Eno pen, "Here we are, STUCK by this river ... underneath a sky that's EVER falling down, down, down." Something there is inescapable, and eternal, and repetitive. The fate, or vicissitudes of life, or reincarnation. And This river made Bry realize that, as the people back in the sixties were wont to do.
Hope and sorrow intertwined.
