It completely depends on each gun! I have had BSA'S from the 70's 80's and 90's none of which were accurate trying to use the artillery hold. My HW90k however, could only be accurate with this hold.
I have a BSA. New model and I’m using the standard shooting instructions given me back in the Army Cadets with live rounds , 303s, 7.2 rounds. Can’t hit a thing with the artillery hold. Bulls most of the time shooting how I was taught 40 plus years ago! No scope, iron sights, 30 yards. Each to their own.
Mate there is the artillery hold for centre fire which is what the video you used is. Pull in to the shoulder firm grip. Then there is the air gun version rest on the palm loose in shoulder lol
yup, and I do same for all, because its how I was drilled. right hand/trigger hand pulls to my shoulder 3-4 lbs (if not 5), left hand up stock pulling another 1-2 lb. "the monkey behind the trigger is the recoil manager". holding firmly isn't a disadvantage if you're consistent, can be an advantage too some times/ways. trigger pull isn't influencing barrel+aim as much, the initial recoil kick can't move as fast or far during launch.
"caress it like...". Er, I'd go for "Ripley". Good vid.
Hold it like it’s made of the thinnest glass and filled with the strongest acid.

I'm sorry but artillery hold works for me with 70s Webley hawk Almost pellet on pellet With right pellet 👍
I Think by the end of the video you'll see I came to the same conclusion. I got there in the end. 😁
so why are ya sorry?
Even more important with an actual coil spring air gun.
Completely agree with this.
Good video bad sounds

Thank you for sharing. Just proofs one can still learn something from the younger ones.
