The sound of the wheels squeaking around Ashfield makes me think of catching a V set on the CCN. I'm so glad we have this footage of a V set cab ride before they're all gone. I would have liked to see all the way until it stopped at Central though.
2 decades ago drivers were able to quickly make up the time by exceeding the speed boards. Not sure now but it looks like every driver is afraid to go 5-10 ks over to make up time. Miss the good old days
Is there a good reason they can't rearrange the tracks just before Redfern into Central so that you have the Western and Illawarra lines in an UP-UP-DOWN-DOWN formation and essentially get 2 separate track pairs into the yard and Sydney Terminal?
