I had this problem and found out all my controller needed was a simple update I wish I would have known before I bought a new headset
Go to settings
Devices and connections
Accessories
Then press the 3 dots and update
It should work

Can you do this to a Xbox fusion controller?
I open the side rails the same way and it bothers me to see people use a pry tool now. Although I work on a lot of these and some are stubborn I use the same method but a bit of leverage
I have a controller that has the aux port off I didn't understand is the alcohol stuff use to glue it or something bit is it use to clean it and than solder it I don't understand

Also to add I bought a brand new jack( i bought more than one from same source and they worked in others) but although using 99.9% alchohal to clean it’s still not registering. Bummer. Gotta figure it out before I send it out. (Controller is sold to a good friend) I have been very honest with him and I hoped this would be a better explanation
I was using my controller yesterday and I accidentally plugged in my mic too rough I guess and the jack stopped working.. I tested with another controller and both mics worked fine.. is there a way to fix the current jack or do I have to order more and replace?

I have a problem with my turtle beach recon 70X headset and they seem to not work with the mic when i am calling my friends on discord with my Pc, i have to do something with the audio settings but i have no idea how.

I bought a second hand xbox one s a while ago but everytime u plug headphones/earphones in the sound sometimes cuts out and everytime the cord moves a little bit it makes a crackling noise
I’m still using the same controller I got for Christmas last year and I’ve thrown that thing a lot in acts of rage and idk how the heck it hasn’t broke yet

Hey Tinker Man I know this isn't the topic of the video but when I turn on my Xbox it take longer then normal for the Xbox display screen to show up and when it does load up I get on the main menu and it won't let me move like it's frozen or something or it lags a bunch just for me to go on TH-cam could you possibly help me out I would really appreciate it thanks

Hey there, you just need to find a way to bust the 'security bit' inside the screw so the screwdriver will fit. Security torx drivers just have a hole in the center of them because a piece pokes up in the center. A small flat blade usually destroys it so a normal torx fits, so i would find something to immitate that?

i broke mine by trying to clean dirt out with qtip so now when i insert my head phone plug and twist it , it makes a clinking sound.
A piece of the qtip may have caught one of the inner pins and damaged it by the sounds of it 😓

Bro just try it I thought the same thing before but you can get all the tools to take apart controller and a new headphone jack for like 10 bucks on Amazon and if you just follow instructions it’s easy
The only reason I didn’t buy a new controller is cuz I have a elite controller and there damm expensive
Not too bad will suggest if you are afraid of wires you could get some small gauge wire and re do it if it tears but just so you don’t have to solder to the board or the vibratory motors cut the wire in the middle (wish I would’ve thought about how I was gonna reattach the things ) ive done this on my DualShock battery and my friends v2 DualShock vibration motors controllers now a days are darn near made to be replaced because they were made to break and be fixed like every console with call of duty having cod syndrome ps3 or Xbox hell I’m sure even a keyboard would run out and get mushy cod syndrome if you held one key down harder than any other the entire time you played it and motherboards are cheapish on eBay could buy a lot of broken controllers that have various problem ex, dead battery, broken shell, sticky buttons cod syndrome (which I haven’t personally seen on the ps4 DualShock yet but don’t doubt it’s out there ) same with Xbox one controllers if every penny counts might as well make it worth it too I have 2 custom controllers I built from spare parts from broken controllers I built one for my buddy from his broken controllers and I taught my other buddy how to do it himself so if he gets board and wants to tinker he can fix/clean/ mod/change out his controller when the time comes went from a all black v2 to a v2 gen 1 with a white first gen v1 top with slight modifications you can do anything if you put the time into and do your research

Hey Mick I have another problem heheh... Sorry but could you do some investigating for me? I like certain games with vibration and not vibration so I went in the xbox controller vibration settings and turned vibration off, but when I tried to turn vibration on the check mark was already filled and I never did that. I tried unchecking in and checking it again, that didnt work. I tried the reset configure button thing at the bottom of the screen that didn't work. Every time i go to controller vibration settings it always says vibration is already turned on, though its not. I understand this is not a huge problem but you've helped me so much that this is a lot to ask for.

You don't need to replace it, just bend the metal pins away from the plastic a bit so that they press against the PCB properly again.

your headphone jack might be dislodged so put a toothpick in the jack and give it a few taps to push it back

Ive teied before but the plastic usually melts and its generally a really difficult task for what seems like something so simple. I do intend on trying again some day though

Ive been through so many controllers. One of them(busted mic input) the mic input quit after using the contoller a handful of times. Ive got another controller i used 3 or 4 times and the start button quit working. Someone needs to make a controller that doesnt get stick drift and fall apart. If gladly pay more money for it.

Fuck, i hate these controllers. its so easy to push the audio jack out of place also. my kids plug in headsets like barbarians. i had to open up 2 controllers. same problem. Thanks for the help

I own 5 controllers.....4 of which have a broken headphone jack....the other is an old one that doesn't have a headphone jack, otherwise I'm sure it would be broken too....what a terrible design for a controller these thieves charge 60 bucks for, they should be half the price seeing how they are basically disposable.
If I have to buy a new port its just as pointless and inconvenient.....

@@TinkerManMick didn't mean to sound rude was just very frustrating. But then I just updated the controller and it worked. Never tired it and after having gone through 3 controllers I realized that's all I had to do...... still an interesting video but for me personally if I had to buy a new port and wait for it to come in id rather just go buy another one because also the torn screws need the security bit broken off which is risky.

What you failed to mention is that taking the plastics off is extremely difficult, it required so much force that I bruised my fingers pulling it apart and couldn’t get the screws out without stripping them since they were so tightly in there, I got the plastics off and the first two screws and couldn’t get the rest out because I’m not the Hulk
