You DO have a tough job but I thank you for taking the camera into the bushes to pick. Feels like we are all there picking with you. Dont mind that glitch earlier it was basically all darkness unless you rewinded the video. You really go above and beyond to put out your best work. I appreciate you for that. Love your videos they are always extremely helpful and entertaining.
I hope you made a note of the GPS for next season - unbelievable lobsters!!!! Happy New Year! I can't wait to see what 2025 has in store for Mushroom Wonderland! Cheers my friend
That is awesome. I'm in the Inland Northwest close to spokane. I'm going to start getting over by the coast when I have the time. I love your videos. You're making awesome content!
Gold mine! I hope to stumble on a patch half as good here in the Bay Area California...I can almost hear the silence of the forest youre in. Wonderful video :)
I gathered a small bunch of yellow foot chanterelles on the North Olympic Peninsula today. That was my first time finding those, so thank you for the guidance! Now I hope I can find one of those lobster mushrooms!!!
I see piles of picked mushrooms left at trailheads. I never take them because I am not sure. Two were bigger than my hand! Just moved to oregon and started watching your videos. Have gone out to look but not picked until I'm more knowledgeable. Thanks for the videos.
@@robmack6453 sometimes commercial pickers will do that when they get back to the card and inspect their baskets, and they toss out any that are not sale grade. Once in a while a ranger will confront somebody who's picking too many without a permit and they make them dump them out.
Lobster mushrooms seem to be a tricky one. I've never found one in good shape. They're always full of worms. They make a fun sound when you drop kick them... happy new year
@@SamSeth they're usually great because they can last for an extremely long time, but these are probably been sitting there for two or three months now, so definitely late to the game on those ones. It's been an epic year, they usually start coming out in August and that's when they'll be the freshest.
I've been finding a lot of the larger ones over here on 101. Grays Harbor. Now I know why. We have more on our side of the Olympics and I didn't know that. Thank you for teaching me this. Moving on to the topic of breakage and what you dubbed basket bullies: Here's a little trick I've been using to keep my mushrooms in layers while simultaneously not compromising the integrity of the stipe or the cap. Washcloths, from Walmart. Stuff those in there, then another layer, then stuff some more then add another layer. I even emailed one of my very old customers of 8 years, a whole bunch of these to Sparta North Carolina, and they all arrived in perfect shape using this method. Crazy right? It actually works! It works well!
@@DelenaLearns sometimes the really big ones get called bitter, but those are usually right on the ocean coast. I'm quite a ways inland where these smaller sweeter varieties grow and I think they're excellent.
We've had an amazing mushroom season on Vancouver Island, so much so that we're running out of ideas on what to do with them and how to preserve them. We've dried, pickled, and ultimate just frozen a lot of them, and gotten picky about what we're collecting. Any suggestions on other ways to preserve the harvest?
SWEDEN going mushroom hunting tomorrow are there any specific species you’d be interested in me looking out for? I’m hoping to find chanterelles. No ones out now. Weather still good. Before snow hits hard. 🍄🟫
@ I tried emailing and it seemed like that wasn’t going through with the video so I sent the videos through alternative way. I think you have the gist of the data now. Take care. Happy new year. Thank you for everything you do.
*Mushroom explodes on tree* --That never gets old! Great work on this video. Sending some love from the woods in Oregon

That lobster spot is worth GPSing and coming back next season. Nice patch
@@2HighNoon for sure!
Good to see Gunner running along! Nice lobster patch to check next season surely.

Jealous that y'all are getting so much variety in the PNW. The season is all but over here in the Southeast ;p

I picked about 30 pounds of those a few weeks ago. So prolific.
Am i having a stroke, or did you upload this twice?
Either way im watching it!
Had to re-upload due to technical difficulties. Thanks for watching!!!
There was like four extra minutes on the first one at the end with some editing issues.

The only thing I'm finding in Southern New England now is winter oysters.
@@goodun2974 That's good! Probably without all the insects that you find in the summer ones.
