    That nugget to take notes on what I thought about what I heard and not quote the person is HUGE!

    • @louchiey
      @louchiey ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yes! It was a very eye opening thought. Now to retrain my mind to not immediately rehearse what the person said and to think about what I thought about what they said.

      Sounds like paraphrasing! When you have those ah-ha moments it’s best to put them into your own words to have a better understanding on what is being said. I highlight key points but never thought to use sticky notes. Totally makes sense! 🤯

      I think that this is important to link with the vast amounts of overstimulation caused by the internet every second you spend connected to it through any of your five senses. Scrolling down and seeing a comment thread can drastically change your thought pattern and change your own mental direction as a result. This is an example comparable to an apex predator of how social media controls us.
      You can do this with anything on the internet.
      ^ That paragraph I just typed was me finishing thoughts which @missjsgreen, @staceytolliver567 and @Myron Golden didn't finish!
      10:49 "Say it better! You can take what other people have said and say it better than them!"

    Really remarkable insight! I found myself gravitating to your strategy of reading. It's a great reminder to approach learning for mastery rather than just knowledge retention. Your focus on not only recording what's been said but also what was thought as a result is an absolute gem. It's not about how many books you get through, but what you get from the books. Thank you!

    I used to hate reading until I realized that I actually only hated reading the books that I was forced to read in school. Just like Myron, I also read slowly but ironically I listen quickly so audiobooks was what showed me that I actually like reading books. Also a huge benefit is since I listen quickly (if that’s even a term) I can listen and retain the information of the book at 1.75 playback speed. This allows me to literally read a book in hours. And TH-cam has so many audiobooks on here free of charge. Reading in any form changes you. It exposes you to new information, thoughts, and ideas and that exposure always leads to expansion. Be blessed!

    Great tips.I LOVE the post-its idea - game changer for me. I have 2 questions, one, what do you do with the notecards? I use one with each book as an index and write down the page number I underlined or marked up so I can find stuff again. Question 2, is there any chance of a follow-up video showing your Google docs process? I have been looking for a better way than what I have been doing (again, the post-it's is a huge difference for me going forward) to retain and better understand the material.
    Thanks in adavnce.
