Brothers for life !!! Much love to all my Russian Brothers and Sisters who always have our Serbian backs covered in the crazy world. All of us Serbians have much love for our Russian people and we always keep you in our prayers. Thank you for all the help over the years. Love from America .. God bless you
When I was little and asked my grandma what we're going to eat, and she was in a foul mood and didn't want to cook, she would say: muda od labuda (swan testicles) :| I am proud to carry on that tradition with my other half xD
I live in Maine USA, I have a friend in Serbia. I am learning the language. I had learned some swear words already. But not all of these. I agree if you learn a language you should learn it all. Glad I came across your videos. Anything I can use to help me use the language is great. some of the Serbian lessons I have been using can be a bit confusing. I am a woman and I thought your video was great!
Us Serbs are specific in a way that we tend to use swears as words of endearment and for "breaking balls" ( it's an idiom in English and it's perfect for what I'm trying to put out here), however absurd that may sound. It's all much dependent on the tone of the voice - you'll know when someone really means it.
Man, you're awesome. I follow your videos for some time now, like them a lot and I'm happy to see a foreigner support my country so much. Your humanity and kindness is rare and precious these days, thank you for sharing it with us. I like your videos because they are refreshing and they put my country in a perspective I wouldn't have seen otherwise. I can feel your embarrassment doing this one, and that makes it more valuable, fun and educational (for non serbian). This video nearly killed me. It is so funny hearing curses, that I'm so used to that I barely notice them usually, pointed out by an Amrican. BTW your serbian is getting better keep up! You shine with enthusiasm and your videos always make my day. Keep up with doing them and thank you! Živeo brate!
Duuuude!! You are just brilliant! A Croatian friend of mine send me this video as I started to learn Serbian. Hahaha This video made my day! Odlično!! Hvala!!
The reason people tell you "na kurac te nosam" is because that phrase rhymes with the word "awesome" or the number 8 which is "osam". So it's basically a joke that people play on each other. Here's another one LOL when someone tries to get you to say "Barakuda" (type of fish) as soon as you've said the word they'll say "povuces me za muda" which roughly translates to "you can pull me by the balls/dick". As you can see both rhyme, osam rhymes with nosam and barakuda rhymes with muda.
Well, honestly I'm happy to see an American learnig my language and history, which is not very common thing, it's more like otherwise... Pozdrav and respect from BG!
Charles, you're doing a great job,but the thing you should worry about the most are your accents, and africating consonants like Nj,Lj,Dj and simmilar.Google both of these very important things, and in a bit of time, you'll see a lot of progress.Btw,dont put so much force into saying these words.Soften them just a little bit,and for now, opserv Serbian as something between English and Russian pronouncing.I dont say you should study Russian, but try engaging it a little bit. These stuffs will be hard in the beggining, but you'll soon catch up.Big greetings from Serbia, and I respect your work. :)
I laughed my pants off! The funniest part was when he said: ''mrs, mrs, mrs''! When you say ''Drkadzija'' the ''dz'' is pronounced as you would pronounce the letter ''J'' in ''Jack''!
hahahahaha, very goooooood! You don´t have to be sorry for saying this! You are in Serbia, it's normal to talk this way. Nobody really think about the words. Nobody will blame you for this words. You have to practice a little bit. :-D
Charles, for me, this is really good education for everyone who is visiting Serbia for the first time. Because you know, how Serbians first teach curses to all foreigners who visit, and then everything else. This video can really fast forward them to the core meaning to all common curses that are used in our language. After all, great videos, I right now found out about them, I hope I will run at you in Novi Sad at some time somewhere around Miletic square! :D Pozdrav!
Ah, the beauty of the Serbian language. :D It would be amazing if you could record this kind of video again this year. Just to see how your knowledge had progressed over the course of eight years. I bet you have some juicy swear words these days. :)

Im not fluent in Serbian by no means I recognize certain words when I hear them, but may not exactly know the correct pronunciation of the words. Even though we're not together I'm still interested in learning.. Anyway You will be amazed at how regularly these words are just used even just in every day talking. My ex tried to get me to say jeben instead of jeden when it was time for us to eat, but I wasn't dumb enough to fall for that it's easy to catch on if you pay attention. Serbian uses a lot of vocal inflections as well as some gestures. The only reason I mentioned slava is because that's when he tried to get me to say that and if anyone knows about that event you have lots and lots and lots of people there.
Thank you so much for this video! Now I have some great things to say and work and am ready for my trip to Serbia :). Seriously though, I appreciate all your videos. They give me a very well rounded idea of Serbia.
I just started watching your videos, you are hilarious man hahah :D Don't worry offending anyone because your viewers have already fallen in love with you and the way you represent Serbia. Svaka cast!!! :D
Great video as always Charles, keep up the good work. Anyways, thank you for loving our country so much (you probably love it more than 70+% of people i know). Also, are you still volunteering in public schools? I support it and i hope you'll someday come to my school and preferably my class, and that's mainly because a lot of my friends can't really speak english, they only know grammar (i don't really have that problem since i chat with some english speaking friends (they're not from USA or any english speaking countries) over Skype, so i've become quite good at speaking it :D) and their vocabulary is terrible, so i think you should visit some more schools for atleast those 45 minutes, of course when you're free xD Thank you for everything you've done for us and our country, i hope someone will see the beauty of it sometime soon :D P.S. Sorry about some of my english grammar and spelling, since i'm still a kid :)
Man, do not feel at all bad with it. It is freaking education. For sure. Look man, Im learning the language. It is soooo complicated to learn all those words without living for loong periods in situ, that most people will think you are soo much polite, and they may even find themselves comfortable. Sretno, Čarlse! Vidimo se
Hi Charles, I want to thank you for a dose of laughter. You've figured it out, and you're right when you say that everyone wants to know how to curse in the language. Your videos are interesting. Continue to spread the good word about us, Serbs. :)
I love this!! Thank you so much, brought me back to the good old days where we knew my baba had a potty mouth but now we know exactly what she meant! Hahah! Thanks
xD This is hilarious. I LOVE when foreigners swear on Serbian xD it doesn't matter if they mispronounced or correctly pronounced they sound awesome (BTW your pronunciation is really good, you made few errors but their are meaningless because everyone would understand)
I'm half Serbian and I know solid Serbian and both alphabets but I don't fully know everything including grammar, ( I wasn't born in SRB) I think I should speak it since I look more Serbian and my name is Serb and I'm a proud orthodox, can someone link me to something that teaches grammar, like how some Serb words change depending on situations, thanks :) btw I speak both English and French and half Of Serbian
cursing is very important part of every language and since serbs curse a lot and like to do it the more important it is! serbian is also a 1st world language in the number of curses and creativity of them (along side hungarian). nice work charles.
OMG...Charlie, you are hilarious man. :D You know, this video you made got me thinking of how many of these swearwords don't make any sense. If I had to translate them to someone who doesn't understand Serbian, I think I would have a really hard time :D. You did a great job. And I think you were blushing while saying all those swears. :P No need for that. Every language has its swearwords. I swear a lot, usually when I'm alone. ;) Frankly, I can't imagine not using them, because that's my way of letting off steam. And I'm a girl. I also swear a lot when I am surrounded with my friends, we look upon it as banter :). Swearing is deeply rooted in our daily routine, and unless you are having a really bad fight, I don't think anybody would take offense, if you used them. ;) Sorry for my English.
great point!!! ahhahaha... I have tried to explain some American swears to my Arab friends, but they are usually not as detailed and horrid as yours..:) hahhahaha.. thanks again
I am originally from Serbia but I moved to Abu Dhabi a year and a half ago. So I speak Serbian at home but sometimes i forget how to say some words in Serbian. Also when we hurt our finget we dont say "Sranje" because it sounds a bit odd or we don't say "Govno" because it will sound weird. We usually use English curse words like "Shit" or "Fuck".
Charles I fuckin' love you hahahah I'm binge watching ur vids now. My husband is American so I'm making him learn the language from u. Ur hilarious and educational at the same time.
You forgot very good one, jebem ti sve po spisku = fuck your everything by the list, I don't even know how ti translate it lmaoo. Btw, you can make a 20hr video where you'll just say every Serbian curse and translate it without explaining it furtherly, because we're usually combining curses. You mentioned only like 2% of it lol. Good job, though! :D
I think that we Serbians(but also all Ex-Yu-Croats,Bosnian muslims...)and Hungarians curse most in Europe. Before I went in the army I thought that Serbs are "numb 1"in cursing but then I met some Hungarians from Vojvodina(north Serbiain army and when they translated Hungarian curses-My God!-that was much more dirty from Serbian curses
The funniest thing here is that u can make a lot of curse words if u do know the language. This is just some of them that are all-around. But truth to be told we could make very inapropriate words for everyone.
Mrš is basically a demeaning way to tell someone to get out of here. Sometimes used by friends in a joking manor and quite more often as an everyday friendly get outta here. Just as in English, the tone, body language and context will determine how it is being used. Since it does have a demeaning portion of it using it in a polite manor would be possible if you used it as the English word SHOO. I assume that SHOO has less demeaning portion then Mrš but they might be quite close.
Now i notice something... Did you notice that you look much better since you moved to serbia? I thought it's only me when i spend some time there... It must be the food 😌
Dude, if you're gonna make a video, don't apologize for it. Inquiring minds want to know and you're giving them the info.Everyone should know how to swear in other languages...that way, you can even say it in front of the kids. Jebi ga... if someone doesn't like it, tell them to mrš and where to mrš to! :)
Congratulation ,you learned 40% of words that are most important for communication here :).
ahhaha.. :) this helps me get around! :D

+J Star ahahah :D thanks, pal :) glad you got a laugh out of it :)
The funniest thing here is that u can make a lot of curse words if u do know the language. This is just some of them that are all-around. But truth to be told we could make very inapropriate words for everyone.
Your British Cockney accent when you said Wanker has to be the best yet!

The indestructible phone? :)
