    These are just a couple ways to use this amazing feature, but I use it even more for audio purposes! Check out THIS video for how to use it in your audio workflow!

    I think the save presets tip is really good but the specific application (jump cuts) feels like the long way around. I make a multi-cam clip using the one angle and add another angle that's zoomed in and then it's way easier to make the cuts as I need.

      I do that too, but you can’t animate it right? with the preset you can save the zooming animation. With multicam you can’t

    Thanks. You are so right. The save effects feature is great. If also team up the most used with a hotkey then you can really power through editing. (And in a preset to the hotkey on a StreamDeck and then you’re just laughing.)

    I was also going to skip over this vid, but when I watched I literally had my mouth open for the whole time like wow,so I could have saved time, also so many nice effects I made in the past I did not even know I could save and re use them,thank you sooo much bro

    You can also copy the clip that has the effect you want to apply (cmd+c) then select the clip you want the effect applied to and paste (opt+cmd+v) and it’ll copy all the effects and edits done to that clip to the new clip.

    Using the Save Effects Preset for re-framing is a great idea/application. I've only previously used it for saving a stack of color correction effects or plugins. I also noticed in this tutorial and others you are using J & L cuts (offsetting audio edits so they lead or follow video edits). It's cool to see how that 'bridges' the jump cuts to make them seem less abrupt. Nice style!

    Great tip. Another way to achieve the jump cut zoom automatically would be to create a compound clip from the original, apply the zoom and Y move, then make a multicam clip with the original and the compound clip. Not only can you then use the multicam editor to switch between the two, but if you want to change the framing, just adjust the compound clip and it’ll be propagated instantly.

      You can right click and set the effect as your default effect. There is a keyboard shortcut for using the default effect, but the shortcut is escaping my memory at the moment!
      Unfortunately you can only set this for one effect at a time 😩 but still can be very useful if it’s on the right preset!

    Hey Dylan I've been wanting to make this effect on fcp for so long but haven't gotten around to figuring out how to. I was hoping if you could help me with it! I'd like to make a text appear in the middle of the screen, but dropping downwards. So as if there's a transparent box on top and my text is dropping down from below the box, do you understand what I mean..? Like if I make the text drop downwards just ordinarily, it'll appear fully on screen first and then fall. Pretty small but was hoping if you could make a video on requests and stuff :DDD thanks!

  • @rielcasey

    It works perfectly if you take A-Roll with the same position, if not you must adjust a little bit. But thanks for sharing, Dylan!
    Btw, can you help me how to resolve the titles plugin in FCP with the red screen error? this plugin is from motion fx. Hope you can help, thank you!

    • @TaylorGumby
      @TaylorGumby 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had this issue pop up a few times as well. Usually, I just had to update a "plugin", but there's also been a few times where I accidentally had multiple copies of a title (like a half dozen random copies of adjustment layers, I have no idea how they all got installed) and I was using a copy of one that was deleted or something like that.
      When it comes to something like a specific company's plugin that isn't working, You might have to uninstall, then re-install the plugin, which is always a pain. Sometimes a company is behind on getting an update released, so if you recently updated Mac OS or Final Cut, then you might just have to wait until the plugin company sends out a plugin update that works with those software updates

      Yep! I feel like the Main point of this video is just a quick and easy example of showing "There's a super useful tool Right Here that very few people use!" There's been dozens of music videos I've worked on, where I was constantly having to copy and paste effects and stack adjustment layers across dozens of very small clips, and dang it would have saved me a loooooot of time and stress if I had just known about the Save Effects Preset button.
