  • A Perfect Circle - Judith - With Lyrics
    -----
You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never ever choose to be
Oh so many ways for me to show you how your savior has abandoned you
    Fuck your god
    Your lord, your Christ
    He did this
    Took all you had and
    Left you this way
Still you pray, never stray, never
    Taste of the fruit
    Never thought to question why
It's not like you killed someone
It's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side
Praise the one who left you broken down and paralyzed
He did it all for you
He did it all for you
Oh so many ways for me to show you how your dogma has abandoned you
    Pray
To your Christ, to your god
    Never taste of the fruit
    Never stray, never break, never
    Choke on a lie
Even though he's the one who
    Did this to you
    Never thought to question why
It's not like you killed someone
It's not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side
Talk to Jesus Christ as if He knows the reasons why
He did it all for you
He did it all for you
He did it all for you

This was before 10,000 days. Maynard wrote this song for his religious mother who was handicapped in a wheel chair. His mothers name was "Judith". She eventually died after 10,000 days of being handicapped, that's when he wrote that album with Tool. Which is unbelievably amazing and so heart wrenching.

Very rarely do lyrics and singing match this well. You can really hear the bitter sarcasm at the "He did it all for you" part. Just brilliant.

Wow. Back in the day I just thought that this was your average angry alt/post metal track. Good but I didn't really consider it very much. But upon listening and understanding the lyrics now, this track isn't angry more than it is painfully sad. The mournful lyrical content and pained delivery (what I mistook for basic anger) actually gave me some feels upon revisiting this track. I wish i would have given it the time of day back then.

    ...SONG OF THE DAY!!!
    A PERFECT CIRCLE - JUDITH (2000)
🤘🏿ULTRAMEGAROLOTA🤘🏿19/04/2021

I used to be a Catholic person, go to church every Sunday and sometimes on Wednesday as well. I was diagnosed with Syringomyelia and that changed all of it. I used to think this song was blasphemy and evil. I now understand that was wrong, this so called God took everything from me. I live in pain every single day and have to take 16 different medications three times a day. I have been made to feel as if I am an evil person because I have to take narcotic pain killers to just be able to walk. Today when I hear this song, it now makes sense and I could not agree with Maynard more. The line in the song, "He did this" is hitting the nail on the head.

@Cristina-rj6kz do I think God singled me out and said "you will have a chronic and debilitating disease." Most decidedly....'No'. Maybe I didn't explain my position on how I feel about the entire situation. I agree with Maynard in the sense that when yourself or a loved one is hurting beyond imagination it is easy blame someone else. It it also difficult at times to fully grasp if God is such a loving God why would he do these things. Granted I may not go to church as much anymore but I do thank God that he gives me another day to live on this planet and enjoy the things he jas put here. I can say continual pain does very strange things to the brain. Even though I have to wake up at 3am everyday to take medication so that I can get out of bed 90 mins later and not scream in pain is still another day that I am thankful to be alive.

We all are entitled to our own opinions, thoughts and beliefs. I believe in God and Jesus Christ. God, in my faith, put us on this earth to live with free will meaning He didn't promise us a perfect life but the choice on how we choose to live our lives. Yes we will have to deal with tragedy in our lives, it's how you deal with it that is most important to Him. I'm sure many that might read this will just scoff at my comments but think for a second, there are always at least 2 ways we can handle situations that arise in our lives. Be positive or negative. You can choose to treat people with love, acceptance and respect or simply not. These are your choices and whether you want to believe it or not that's the free will God has given us all. I've chosen faith which doesn't mean that I live sans facts you can live believing in both and having compassion and empathy for mankind none of us are perfect and He knows this and doesn't expect us to be. He does expect us to treat each other with love, kindness respect and dignity.
I don't judge anyone and I can feel Maynard's pain and anger coming through I hope he has peace in his life.

@@HostileHaywire7 Same except I’m somewhat religious. There are many who don’t feel God’s love- actually most don’t feel His love including diehard Christians(and myself). It sucks. Most people and most Christians are going to hell for eternity. I suggest trying your very best to seek God anyway because hell is way worse than any human mind can possibly imagine.

I watched my mom die in a week after her doctors told her she had no chance. I know it is ridiculous maybe but after she passed I listened to this song for a month straight to help me to deal and it did help. It is too bad that Maynard hates when fans tell him that he is amazing or that he helped them get through a hard time in life. I would never tell him that but I have had some shitty things in life and it has always been Tool or APC THAT make me cope. Sorry but you can't do anything that helps a person get through the crap sometimes. I understand I grew up in the Bay area and I watched a lot of bands get annoyed hearing the same "YOUR gods". And other things. His voice takes you away to another place sometimes and it is a gift I have flown with my kids and husband all over to see Tool, APC AND PUSIFER. Different things make different people cope. I don't care if it seems stupid or whatever. Music from classical to metal to country to rock. It does something to some of us and that's it. I will never apologize for music making me feel good if only for a while.

And if you get angry at it, then fucking scream, write a song do something. But theres really no reason to get mad over a song written by a man mad at the world that parilized his mother and killed her after she prayed for forgiveness from something that dosint exist.

When the earth was still flat,
And the clouds made of fire,
And mountains stretched up to the sky,
      Sometimes higher,
      Folks roamed the earth
      Like big rolling kegs.
They had two sets of arms.
They had two sets of legs.
      They had two faces peering
      Out of one giant head
So they could watch all around them
As they talked; while they read.
And they never knew nothing of love.
It was before the origin of love.
      The origin of love
And there were three sexes then,
One that looked like two men
      Glued up back to back,
Called the children of the sun.
And similar in shape and girth
Were the children of the earth.
      They looked like two girls
      Rolled up in one.
And the children of the moon
Were like a fork shoved on a spoon.
They were part sun, part earth
      Part daughter, part son.
      The origin of love
Now the gods grew quite scared
      Of our strength and defiance
      And Thor said,
      "I'm gonna kill them all
      With my hammer,
      Like I killed the giants."
      And Zeus said, "No,
      You better let me
      Use my lightening, like scissors,
Like I cut the legs off the whales
      And dinosaurs into lizards."
Then he grabbed up some bolts
And he let out a laugh,
Said, "I'll split them right down the middle.
Gonna cut them right up in half."
And then storm clouds gathered above
      Into great balls of fire
      And then fire shot down
      From the sky in bolts
      Like shining blades
      Of a knife.
      And it ripped
      Right through the flesh
Of the children of the sun
      And the moon
      And the earth.
      And some Indian god
Sewed the wound up into a hole,
Pulled it round to our belly
To remind us of the price we pay.
And Osiris and the gods of the Nile
      Gathered up a big storm
      To blow a hurricane,
      To scatter us away,
In a flood of wind and rain,
And a sea of tidal waves,
      To wash us all away,
      And if we don't behave
      They'll cut us down again
And we'll be hopping round on one foot
      And looking through one eye.
      Last time I saw you
We had just split in two.
      You were looking at me.
      I was looking at you.
You had a way so familiar,
      But I could not recognize,
      Cause you had blood on your face;
I had blood in my eyes.
But I could swear by your expression
That the pain down in your soul
Was the same as the one down in mine.
      That's the pain,
      Cuts a straight line
      Down through the heart;
      We called it love.
So we wrapped our arms around each other,
Trying to shove ourselves back together.
      We were making love,
      Making love.
It was a cold dark evening,
      Such a long time ago,
When by the mighty hand of Jove,
      It was the sad story
      How we became
      Lonely two-legged creatures,
      It's the story of
      The origin of love.
      That's the origin of love.

I don't know if this is correct or not and I admit I wish I was a better christian than I am I truly do but as a person that has lost both parents at a very young age I have to believe that God doesn't promise you anything for your time on earth it is your reward for being faithful and believing in the after life and asking for forgivness of your sins and believing that Jesus God's only son died for us.
As far as Maynard goes I believe he actually said he was a believer after all of this happend though I can't remember what changed his mind tbh.

The only divine authorized way is jesus christ. Not a specific denomination.
Apparently there's been times churches have told people with hauntings that they couldn't help.
Jesus is there. Satan just gets strongholds.
      You can't beat Jesus.
Those Christians sound like they cursed her more than healed.
Sadly I have no idea if he knew that music helps and try a deliverance ministry for infirmary spirit.
