What made Mac Dre so special was his diversity in culture and fan base he had street dudes, nerds, preppy people, and even corporate dudes dancing to his music a lot of people see the dancing and assume Dre is just a goofy but he was really a street dude who would knock u tf out lol Dre was the full package Thizz in peace ☹️🤟🤟

When i was like 18-19 I showed Mistah Fab my Mac Dre tattoo at a show in Seattle. He pulled me in stage and let me rap Dre's verse in Boss Tycoon. Anytime ive shown a Bay Rapper my tattoo they gave me mad love. Ill always have nothing but love for the bay area rap scene

Washington state checking in.. I've been on Mac Dre since 1992. We always had a heavy bay area influence here... Edit:... And Dre Dog/ Nickatina ever since new Jim Jones

Growing up in Southern California I got put on to dre dog by white boys. Like super white white boys. Like mushroom acid dropping long hair listened to heavy metal rock type white boys. I went to one of their parties one day in the suburbs and there was a live band playing and I’ll never forget just hanging out when killa whale came on. After a while I realized every white kid in the house was rapping along to the whole song. I was like what is this?? And some kid was like “it’s fuckin Dre dog duuuuude!! He’s the fuckin maaan!!” 😂
I became a fan after that. Then little by little got into a new Bay Area artist after another.
What always blew my mind was why white kids loved nickatina and Mac Dre sooo much?? Something about their just resonated with them lol!!

Mac Dre was a G, don't get it twisted. He was the first person to record songs over the phone from jail, he taught X Raided how to do it in the holding tank of of a courthouse, go ask him. I was blessed enough to party with Furley once in Berkley when I was promoting for him and Nickatina with Million Dollar Dream. This was after Dre got out but right before he formed Thizz ENT cuz the Romp name was hot. Dre was in outer space off mushrooms and performed in a long red wig that looked like he snatched it off a JC Penny mannequin lol. All he wanted to do after prison was party and live life. We focused promotion at all the colleges in Northern/Central Cali cuz the party music hit with students. Best time of my life was pushing that Hyphy movement. It's ironic cuz the movement died when E40 and FAB made it corny. Mess called it on "My Life's a Movie."

Local/regional love can be so fuckin valuable
That’s what Troy Ave could have had for himself independently in the Tri-State area if his personality wasn’t unlikeable.
It’s kind of what Max B had before going to prison. Local love that could make your region be your own personal fuckin cash cow.
Max and French used to be in them CT clubs bi-weekly in like 08 😂😂😂

I'm not talking Sh, or discrediting mac dre. But I didn't hear about him until I moved to the bay in 06-08. I heard he was a legend, there. But I can't put him in "Cali Legends" I can put him in Bay Area legends category. I disagree with Kev. Because not ONE person while I was living in so-cal since mac dre passed, has said "put on some mac dre".they don't know him here. They know Brotha Lynch, X Raided, E-40, even Norteño rappers, ATLEAST their labels. But never mac dre.
