@@theveryworstluck1894, yeah Rocky V stunk when it was supposed to be the last movie. But after you watch Rocky Balboa and the Creed movies, you can see how it fits in and it’s not really that bad at all!
Rambo: First blood is another great movie by Sylvester Stallone. A performance that should have won an Oscar. A must watch Classic. I'm loving your reactions. 😊
All of the Rocky movies are worth a watch, and then the Creed movies too, as they continue the story of the Rocky character. There's nothing else quite like this franchise where you can follow the lives of fictional characters from 1976 to 2018. For other Stallone movies, "First Blood" and "Rambo: First Blood part II" are must-watch films. His Rambo character is his most iconic role, next to Rocky. Other good films include "Cop Land," "Demolition Man," "Cliffhanger," and "Over the Top." The Expendables series is kind of a mixed bag unless you're well versed in old action movies and just get a kick out of the stacked cast in each film.
I saw this in theaters in 1979 when I was 13 and cried it was so good. Now at the age of 58 this movie still makes me cry. I highly recommend his Rambo movies (First Blood is the first in the series) which is probably what he is best known for besides Rocky.
Hope you continue with all the movies!!!! They are all really great and so heartwarming, sometimes even heartbreaking…It’s also great to see the evolution of the characters as they go through different life stages! ❤❤
One thing that I like about this was that, in the first film, Gazzo's driver made mean jokes about taking Adrian to the zoo for their first date, and in the second, Rocky ended up proposing to her in the zoo.
As someone who grew up on these films as they came out, I am obviously a huge Rocky fan. Even though I'm not into boxing as a sport, just the stories in this universe Stallone created are so gripping. The next one (#3) is my my favorite next to the more recent Creed films. Thank you for reviewing these films. It's great fun to see how excited you two get. You both are a couple of rock stars.
Remember Rocky's pay for the first fight with Apollo was $150,000, but after taxes, hospital bills, paying Mick his percentage and whatever other expenses he only cleared $37,000
I agree with other comments that First Blood is, next to Rocky, one of Stallone's best movies. I think you will love it. It also shows what a good actor Stallone is because his character in First Blood is completely different than Rocky and Stallone is so good that you will believe that he really is John Rambo just as you believe that he is Rocky.
The scene in the chapel is my favorite. Mick is speaking a lot of truth here but he knows Rocky's ian't in the right head space to train so he says his peace and says "OK kid, I'm still with ya till the end" It really moves their relationship into something beyond friendship.
Burgess Meredith is the OG Penquin in the TV series Batman. You should check Burgess Meredith in Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men working opposite of Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.
They don't go 15 rounds now. Injuries are usually less severe. For ribs they tend to tape the abdomen to provide support, limited activity, and time for healing. Shorter fights don't guarantee an absence of injuries. Muhammed Ali suffered a broken jaw in the 2nd round of a fight with Ken Norton in 1973. That fight went 12 rounds. Imagine being hammered in the face for another 10 rounds. A rabbit punch is a hit to the back of the head or base of the skull. Very dangerous. The term goes back to a quick kill method on a rabbit.
Great reaction! You should also watch the Rambo movies, Cliffhanger, Demolition Man and Cop Land. Maybe also The Expendables and Daylight. Actually I think most of his movies are fun and worth a watch. And he is really good in the series Tulsa King. Sly is a legend. 😎
This is a fantastic reaction! I love how into the fight she is! So much fun to watch. Also Bill Conti does a brillinat job here! The soundtrack is amazing!
Not to excuse Paulie, but there are two things you gotta remember. One, he is Rocky's best friend, and Rocky knows who and what he is and accepts him as he is. And two, if it was not for him, Rocky and Adriane would never have gotten together.
Yes. One thing that you see, especially in the first Rocky, is the old taking care of the guy from the neighborhood. Paulie probably grew up with Rocky. That’s also why Guzzo the loan shark took care of Rocky, and even took care of the driver.
I love you too! Your so fun to watch movies with😃 especially the Rocky series, that I've seen so many times. And by the way, I seen both the movies, in the theater, when they first came out. So proud to be a part of that moment.
This Was a Very Good One,I Have All The Rocky Movie's But 4 Is My All Time Favorite One, Great Reactions Everyone See You Both at The Next One,Katy & Otis
3:23 Rib fractures require X-rays to confirm or rule out punctured lungs. In practice, the ribs are left to heal without medical. intervention due to the rich blood circulation in that area that hastens the healing process. Therefore, the patient is usually advised to rest and take painkillers
PLEEEEEASE watch all the other Rocky movies! They’re all so much fun. And other Stallone movies to watch are Over The Top, First Blood, Cliffhanger and Demolition Man
Rabbit punch is a punch to the lower skull at the back of the head. Anyone who has set snares to catch rabbits knows where to hit them if they are still alive when you check them.
I love how the first movies climb up the steps has Rocky by himself, but this time he had the support of the entire city at his back. Boxing movie you should check out, Million Dollar Baby. 4 Oscar wins, one of those was for best picture.
33:00 Rabbit punches are punches to the back of the head because that is how they would kill rabbits back in the old days, a quick hit to the back of their heads
I think ppl miss the irony of Rocky proposing at the zoo. In the 1st movie, Gazo's driver told Rocky to take Adrian to the zoo for their first date because "ugly girls like the zoo".
"I just got one thing to say... to my wife at home: Yo, Adrian! I DID IT!" Fun Fact: When Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) is training for the fight, he is sparring with a smaller quicker fighter. The sparring partner is played by real life Champion Roberto Durán. Making Lemonade Fact: Originally, Adrian was supposed to be at the big fight. However, because Talia Shire was working on another movie at the time, the storyline was changed to having her stay home and watch the fight on television. The scenes of her watching the boxing match on television were shot, and then edited into the movie several months after filming once the fight scenes had finished. Incredible Run Fact: Analysis by Philadelphia locals tracked the route Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) took through the city during his training run when all the children ended up running with him. If he took this actual route from his South Philly house to the top of the Art Museum steps he would've run approximately 30.2 miles in one day - 4 miles more than a marathon. Not impossible by any means, but Rocky isn't training or built for that kind of run.
Rocky’s house to the art museum is not 30 miles. His house was in Epiphany parish at 11th & Jackson Street he ran up 9th St which is the Italian Market to the Art Museum - that is about 5 or 6 miles. The montage was definitely to show the city because the location of the gym to his house is not close, the tracks are no where on the route, etc. Mickeys gym and Rocky’s apt are in Kensington which is pretty far from South Philly. If you know the city you know this run makes no sense but it makes for a great montage. That being said, there is a marathon every year, the Rocky Run, which is 10 Miles and hits a lot of the hot spots.
I adore that you guys love this film. I grew up watching this one on HBO in the 80s so as amazing as the first one is, THIS is my Rocky movie. Loved riding along with you guys as you watch this one 🙂. "Yo Adrian! I did it!!"
Other sports movies I recommend: Remember the Titans about high school football in the 60s/ 70s. Hoosiers: High school basketball in the 50s. Miracle: Olympic hockey in the 70s - true story! Bull Durham: Minor league baseball. There's more, but that's a great stsrt!
I think you'd love the original Bad News Bears (1976). It's fantastic. The thing I love about the Rocky movies is we rarely get to see young character's life evolve all the way into his senior years. Including the first two Creed movies, there are EIGHT total films with Rocky.
Great reaction you two....I've been watching the recent 'Tulsa King' TV series (with Sly in it) a lot lately. He is very very good in that. It's definitely worth watching for a TV series. Other entertaining Stallone movies.... The rest of the Rocky franchise (6 total), the Creed films (3 so far), the Rambo films (5 movies), The Expendables films (4 so far), the Escape Plan films (3 movies), Demolition Man, Cliffhanger, Cobra, Over The Top, Nighthawks, Tango & Cash, The Specialist, Cop Land, Assassins, Victory (aka Escape To Victory), Lock Up, Daylight & The Samaritan (sequel in the works) Other so-so Stallone movies & bit parts... Death Race 2000 (1975), F.I.S.T., Oscar, Judge Dredd (1995), Get Carter (2000), Driven, The Lords Of Flatbush, D-Tox (aka Eye See You), Avenging Angelo, Bullet To The Head, Grudge Match, Capone (1975), Paradise Alley, Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 & Vol. 3, Antz (voice), Zookeeper (voice), & The Suicide Squad (voice).
My best recommendations for sports movies: * The Bad News Bears (1976), about little league baseball, and, * Breaking Away (1979), about cycling. Both movies star Jackie Earle Haley, who played Rorschach in the 2009 Watchmen movie.
fun ROCKY facts 1.the dog is Stallones dog 2.the apartment in first movie was stallone and his brothers 3.first film the ROCKY run they did not have permits for 4.Stallones first draft for first ROCKY was written in 3 and half days 5.first film had a different title called ROBERT BALBOA 6.Only about 10% of it made the shooting script, and there were a further nine significant re-writes. In the first draft, Adrian was Jewish and lived with her mother who hated Rocky. Mickey was a vicious racist, Apollo was Jamaican, and Rocky threw the fight at the end and, with his prize money, opened a pet store with Adrian. 7.Producers wanted burt reynolds as ROCKY 8.Because the budget was low, Sly filled in some of the minor roles with family members. His brother Frank Jr plays one of the street corner singers, his Dad, Frank Sr., is the timekeeper in the fight at the end. And his then wife, Sasha, was the still photographer on set. 9.In his audition for the part of Apollo Creed, Carl Weathers sparred with Stallone and accidentally clocked him on the chin. Sly told him to calm down and Weathers replied “if I was allowed to audition with a real actor, I could do much better.” Avildsen told him that Sly was the guy and he replied “well, maybe he’ll get better.” Sly offered him the role on the spot. 10.First film, In the original ending, Rocky meets Adrian in the tunnel, and they walk out hand in hand. Test audiences said it was too depressing, so it was re-shot. They had very few people to fill the crowd for the re-shoot, they just used family, friends and crew in this one corner of the ring. But that image of Rocky and Adrian hand in hand was used for the poster art for the film.
My theory/headcanon as to why Rocky can take such a beating is the fact that he might potentially have an "abnormally" large and thick skull like real life boxer Marvelous Marvin Hagler
The reason they started with the ending of the first film, is because once a movie had left the theaters, there was no way to see it again. There were no cable movie channels, and no video rental. There was no way to watch Rocky at home until 1980.
Demolition Man is a must watch Stallone film. It is a dystopian film with some light hearted moments. It also stars Wesley Snipes (Blade), and Sandra Bullock
I personally think Rocky 3 is teh best of the series! I love the one though as well. There are characters in my life from movies that are so dear to me. Mick is one of those! They are like family almost! Spock is another one and Mr Miagee all wonderful characters and mentors for life :)
The entire Rocky *and* Creed franchise movies are great; and I hope you both continue watching these movies. Rocky V was considered a flop when it came out. But all of the following movies double-downed with its plot lines, such that today it really fits into the whole overall franchise and considered by newer viewers to be pretty good. TBH I’m a bigger fan of other franchises. But the Rocky and Creed movies are amazing because none of them are stinkers. They’re all consistently very good to great. And that’s a real achievement considering that the movies aren’t based on prewritten, established books and are written one movie at a time. I really hope you two continue watching all nine movies!
Sports movies, yes!! "Field of Dreams" (Kevin Costner) "Bull Durham" (Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon) "Major League" Great reaction, enjoyed watching that with ya's. And to echo others here, "First Blood" - powerful performance!!
The hospital that Adrian is in during her coma is a Catholic hospital (notice the crucifix above her bed on the wall) which is why the chapel looks the way it does.
Rocky 3 and 4 are great and so is the first Rambo ( First Blood ) But i still gravitate towards COP LAND not only a great cast, Stallone, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Robert De Nero and Cathy Moriarty but a slow burn of a cop flick that builds and builds it is very gritty and so underrated, Stallone's best acting alongside the rocky and first rambo franchise
A couple of things Stallone is in that I can think of off the top of my head is "Over The Top" & a new tv series on Paramount called "Tulsa Kings", I think they just wrapped up season 2, or they are getting ready to.
He Yo ! You've embarked on a journey with one of the most iconic and beloved characters in cinema history. If you really love the character of Rocky, I recommend you watch all the films (Rocky 3, 4, 5, Balboa (6) and Creed 1 & 2). You'll follow the ups and downs of Rocky's life. The quality isn't always equal, but they're all worth watching.
Part 2 for me is probably the most inspirational movie ever and the best one of them all by far.
Facts
It's crazy that all of them are good. Even the fifth one which is objectively the worst one is still watchable and entertaining.

such subordinate clauses as 'where is your hat' show how brilliant the script is and give the characters more depth.

"First Blood" (1982) is one of thee greatest performances by Silvester Stallone. "Forrest Gump" (1994) should be after.
Really not seeing any connection, aside from a very tenuous one involving Vietnam
At the end, after the fight, when a crowd member shouted We love ya Rock, and he said I love yous too. That was spontaneous, not scripted.

It also stars Wesley Snipes (Blade), and Sandra Bullock
Burt Young was a boxer during his time in the Navy
Good reaction now onto Rocky 3 asap. You'll love it 🥊
Sports movies, yes!!
"Field of Dreams" (Kevin Costner)
"Bull Durham" (Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon)
"Major League"
Great reaction, enjoyed watching that with ya's.
And to echo others here, "First Blood" - powerful performance!!
I seem to be in the minority but I really like Daylight. It got action/drama and disaster!
Some good Stallone movies that often get overlooked Victory ( sports movie loosely based on a true story) , Cliffhanger, and Rambo first blood
2was the best... you saw the best one. -- Great great reaction.
The hospital that Adrian is in during her coma is a Catholic hospital (notice the crucifix above her bed on the wall) which is why the chapel looks the way it does.
Can’t vote enough for “Rambo: First Blood”🔥
10:51 It turns out Rocky doesn't use Condominiums.
