Hi Dan, even though I'm quite new to PvP in GO, even newer to your channel, and merely follow two TH-camrs' work, I really do enjoy your style of content. Thank you for your great effort! Concerning the Fantasy Cup, I started making progress as soon as I was using Skarmory as a lead and just wanted to suggest you to maybe give it a shot. It resists almost everything in the Top 10 on PvPoke, overcomes the bunch of Ground that people use, and can farm down G-Weezing with Steel Wing in the one-shield scenario. Since noone uses Electric, its only real threat is Turtonator on the lead. Since most of the meta is quite glassy, its Flying-type charge moves are enough to significantly damage those as well. I think my ranking would be higher if I were better at team building, but I currently pair it with a Shadow-Flygon and a hundo Whimsicott since I don't have a PvP one worth to spend dust on. A-Sandslash in the back is an issue, but again more on the rare side due to all the Ground. All the A-Slashes which I faced were on the lead, which Skarmory can okayish take care of. Moreover, I didn't face any other Skarmory yet, so people seem to not be aware of it and therefore don't adapt their teams.
@@nait5340 As mentioned, I am totally unaware of what other PvP-GO content creators come up with - working full time is indeed a thing. :D But after 40 Fantasy matches so far, I for my share didn't face a single Electric-type. :)
@@linusscholz9971 yeah, that's more than fair. i've been running plenty of a-sandslash since i managed to somehow dodge the fire types. also, the mentioned video isn't anything even remotely meta with its triple double weakness to ground lol. still, be aware that there are people who might bring a magnet boy or togedemaru specifically to counter azu. and they're the worst a skarmory can see.
@@nait5340 Yeah, personally I wouldn't want to run a double Ground weakness (typewise) in this cup either. I'm aware of the fact to get hard-countered right away, but this can happen with any lead. Having a VGC background, I feel like Skarmory performs really well in GO too and imho better than its Fantasy-Cup rank 44 on PvPoke. I'd have liked to pair it with Flygon and an Azumarill, but having started just this year, my best Marill so far is a rather mediocre 0/8/15, which I wouldn't want to spend all my XL candies on.
@@linusscholz9971 0/8/15 is rank 69, getting up to level 47. idk for sure, also having started less than a year ago, but there was a level cap was 40 in the past. so i think yours woud probably be better than the majority of azus out there. i've got an unfinished rank 25 azu but might end up building a worse one in the end, just because every xl more that is required delays the day that i can actually use one. i've also settled on a level 40 diggesby for the same reason. i mean, for all we know both coud get nerfed in a couple of months.
Two thoughts: re: Jonkus another data point should be lilykatchum where he plays side by side with her, i feel like they just started doing it and they don't post every day, but their interaction is really entertaining, given she's literally the example of bringing a new player into gbl, and that they are playing in real time vs playing games back at 1.25x speed. The other thing is I'm enjoying Ultra league so far, but maybe because I'm not out into elo yet. I'm basically just running mons from community day this year (ape/weeze/prima/starters) and it feels more accessible for some reason
This team is the exact team I’ve been hunting so I appreciate any coverage of it. P.S. I think Jonkus’ case is that not everyone who is subscribed to him loves his content, but he is always the first to cover new and interesting news. People who don’t want to wait find themselves there
I'm curious why I don't see any Excadrill running Iron Head instead of Rock Slide. The only flier you'll see for Rock Slide is typically Togekiss, and Iron Head will give basically the same coverage in this cup. It can easily turn around matchups against Whimsicott and Shiinotic. You might see a couple Skarmory but Iron Head seems like the better move for this meta in my opinion.
I've been seeing a good amount of excadrill running iron head. ('d also argue Rock Slide is good for any skarmory you see.) Probably up to personal preference or what the rest of your team looks like.
I have been playing this team all this week, but with regular A dugtrio, i have a really good one. I use excadrill as the lead and weezing as safe switch, because I always got switch to Azu. Great team, quick battles.
I just checked the video i submitted and if you dont check videos before hand. Turn volume off, i accidentally recorded audio. Probably too late if your getting videos out before regionals
I believe Jonkus commentary is difficult to watch for many people (myself included - it is so hard to listen to his talking style/accent) so I think they may be subscribed to check new teams for GBL/how moves are used, etc. but don't really watch his videos. Henry should eclipse Jonkus in the future (subscription-wise) because he has better personality, solid game knowledge (just like you about move timing/rankings/matchups), and has experience casting Play Pokemon events. He deserves all the views he gets, though his lower posting frequency may still be a reason why he doesn't have more subs. Appreciate the videos & Dan Talks as always!
Hey Dan, I’ve been having a lot of success with my secret weapon in the back - Shiinotic with astonish seed bomb and sludge bomb. Resists the slappers and does neutral damage against virtually everything
Do you really think the holiday cup will be dominated be Smeargle? It's a pokemon that takes a lot of time and dedication to get those exact moves! Not something any money can fix, luckily. Don't expect to encounter any in my ELO range at just least (~2100).
Did 1 set of this last night, saw 4 skarmory in 5 battles. Some folks with nostalgia! As for the smeargle with incinerate and flying press in the next little cup, it might theoretically do amazing, but how many of those are running around? Going to run into many outside of the top ranked play?
Dan talks are the best talks. Also, the meta in the Fantasy cup sucks, but the games are FAST. And that kind of makes up for it.
I'll take fast rps fantasy or 5 minutes ultra matches
I love the fast games, in and out quick. The worst matches in open are when people use Mandi, Clod, Azu as one team

"Since noone uses Electric"
CallumOnToast (video from yesterday): uses a triple shadow magnet boy team :D

8:12 - steel (iron head) is 4x effective there
I dont think I'm swayed towards either league this week. I just watch everything because I love your content.
Appreciate that
A podcast sounds like a good idea. “Dan Talk”
This feels just like when people were running astonish/charm teams in psychic cup. Quite cheesy but gets the job done.
Yeah!!!

Again Shiinotic takes down the back completely on this team! As the lead… it goes down to 2 against one!? lol

Perhaps another time for a team type that Dan doesn't like, a fast move damage team

I am pretty sure you are one of the ones I have filmed because I remember having to mute audio for at least one submitted.

How do you deal with Turnator with this team? Cause I am seeing a lot along with Azu
I ran into this team with my shadow Salamanca and swept the entire team 😂
Wiggly wins the 2 shield against non-shadow excadrill and both versions off Dugtrio. Give it shields and it will charm through.
Flygon just wins no matter the shilds! Lol

Yeah true.
I already have a level 51 Lock-on Flying press smeargle now I gotta get an incinerate one too 🤦🏻♂️
Fantasy cup, boring but quick.
Ultra slow but too long matches
Next week going to ignore pvp
Your kids are sick as often as mine. 😅 it's like we can't go a full week in our house with everyone healthy.. hope they feel better soon
Yesterday I was finishing with turtonator, whimsicott, ferrothorn. Coming out at 20 at 2083 Today I'm 2/10 with that mix.
Yeah the wins in this meta are so day-to-day. 🙄
Whims exc dug is better,
Could someone explain what the numbers next to the moves mean? Thank you!
Fast moves per Charged move. 5 Fairy Winds gets you to the first Sludge, and 4 more gets you to the second.
@@rocketimpossible5196and about the turns on the fast moves?
What would be it like if you use shadow excadril
You go down faster! Am might not get to a move!
Taking next week off 😅
Hey
Shy-not-tick like the 3 words.
Too late. I definitely messed it up for one of the videos I shot in advance
I subscribed to Jonkus but I don't watch it. He is just not good
