A child called it is a very emotionally difficult book. I suggest reading it together. I read it in school in the 90s and it left a mark on my heart. Important read but I cried a lot.

I found that book laying around as a child and read it and it deeply deeply disturbed me and still does to this day. I’m not saying others should not read it, it’s just a heavy sadness still in my heart.

You are exactly right. It’s a difficult read and I’ll be right there with her to discuss. Like I said in the video, some of the reads for this year are heavy… thank you for the comment. I do truly appreciate the suggestion. 💕

I have the same experience with this book. I happened upon it and read it on my own as a child. My mom knew I was reading it and we talked about the story as well as the fact that this kind of thing happens and how awful it is. It gave me a heavy heart but also an awareness that I think is important. To be aware and possibly help in an awful situation….I believe there’s value there.
Thank you for watching and for commenting. I do truly appreciate it.
      💕

If your aunt's book is good enough to publish, you should consider it. I have a little book "Echoes of the Farm" by D.C. Sanders which is impossible to get these days. It's a lovely memoire about the author's life growing up. It's short, and each chapter is a sweet story within itself. Consider editing your aunt's work and self publishing. It's how we have Emily Dickinson's work!!! Personal histories are so important to share -- especially if they are by and about WOMEN!!! 😊

Did you use LOF for all your children? If so, how do you use it? Like what does “your” lessons consist of?

    • @adashofgratitude7268
      @adashofgratitude7268  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

We used LOF exclusively for our oldest from about 5th grade to graduation.
LOF is all our middle daughter has used.
We plan to use it exclusively for our youngest as well.
We use it by reading a chapter and completing the “Your Turn to Play” section at the end of the chapter.
We go back and review if needed.
Then we move on and read the next chapter the next school day.
We usually repeat the whole book when we finish and then we go on to the next book if I’m satisfied that they comprehend the material.
That’s it. I hope that answers your question. 💕
      Thank you for watching.

You’ll have to look up the requirements where you live. I only know about homeschooling in South Carolina.
      Thank you for watching!❤️

Hi there everyone. I started homeschooling back in 2020 and I think it's been the best thing I could've done for the kids. We used the Spectrum books; ELA, Reading Comprehension, and Math. They are great and the kids have learn so much from them. This school year I might add the Spelling one as two of my boys are struggling with spelling. Thank you, Beth for sharing and I think your reading collection is an amazing one; read most of them myself.

I just found your channel and I love this video. I have been in the mindset for middle school that we need to do an already set up curriculum for her to learn what she needs to….thr more videos I watch..especially yours…I am finding that i don’t feel that way anymore. My daughter is going into 7th and last year was the first time I used a boxed curriculum. Neither of us enjoyed it really. I also love some of your picks too and am going to be looking at them. Especially horses. My daughter take riding lessons and works at the barn…she would love a study on horses. Thanks for your video. I’ll be watching more now.

Could you share what local homeschool stores you've shopped at? Thanks.

Locally, I like to shop 2nd & Charles, Goodwill and The Book Tavern.
There’s a homeschool store in Aiken that I do want to check out, but it’s by appointment only and I haven’t been organized enough to go there yet. Maybe one day!
      Thanks for watching!💕
