Wow, this video was fantastic, thank you so much for this content. It made my anxiety considerably lower. I am moving with my family from Europe to the US soon and this was driving us crazy.
It's enough to make your head spin! Whether you choose us or another broker, we highly recommend working with a broker especially if you are unfamiliar with the (very complicated) US healthcare system. FYI, when you first move, you will be eligible for a special enrollment period, so make sure to plan for that. Safe travels!
Keep your socialism at Europe. Biden and his politicians want you to be dependent on the fat, bloated corrupt government services and unable to think and take care of yourself and your family. Do you think this woman in the video or Biden and his family will be using socialized healthcare? Try Canada, UK or China, they love peasants to kept down groveling for scrapts and waiting for months to get a bandaid.
Great info.Thank you. In one of your videos you touched on COBRA and transitions to ACA before 65. My question is if I take COBRA( that is offered for 18 months) at full price am I obligated to keep for the full 18 months before applying for ACA with subsidy or can I quit the Cobra prior to the 18 months and get on Cheaper ACA( with subsidy )when the open enrollment time comes next. All I remember reading on this subject was that I wouldnt be eligible for ACA insurance if ....(the Cobra being available to me was one of these disqualifiers) Thanks again.
Hi Harold. You can cancel COBRA at any time. Unfortunately cancelling COBRA won't make you eligible for a special enrollment period so you may have to wait until open enrollment (unless you experience an additional qualifying life event). BUT if you've recently lost your job and your health insurance you may still be able to take advantage of a special enrollment period. When did you lose coverage? Additionally, participating in COBRA should not affect your eligibility for an ACA subsidy. It is not considered an offer of employer-sponsored coverage.
Love your channel! I’ve learned so much! Question: my spouse and I are repatriating back to the US July 2022. Are we entitled to enroll in a marketplace plan based on our change in life situation? If so, how is the annual premium handled? Will we pay a premium for the remaining 6 months of 2022? How does that work?
Thanks! So glad we could be of help! Moving will qualify you for a special enrollment period so you should be able to enroll upon your return. The premiums are actually paid monthly so you'll only be responsible for the payment once you've enrolled. You can view the plans (that will still be available as of July 2022) now on Healthcare.gov or whenever you want to start researching. And of course, feel free to call us at 888-410-0344 if you have any questions. Safe travels!
Hello, I have a question about "deductible": so if I have a $5000 deductible, Do I have to meet my entire deductible and then insurance kicks or the insurance covers some costs before I meet my deductible??? this is confusing for me! Thanks and great info :)
It's confusing for a lot of people! Some services will be covered even before you meet your deductible, for example many of your basic doctor's visits. BUT, you may have to meet your deductible if you have something more costly or involved like a hospital stay. For example, for marketplace plans, all of the office visits for a pregnancy are covered (with no copay) even before the deductible is met, but there will be a charge for the labor and delivery in a hospital. If you'd like, feel free to give us a call and we can go through your plan with you to explain in further detail: 888-410-0344. There is no charge for our services.
Another question about the deductible on a Bronze PPO plan for me and my spouse… the policy states “If you have other family members on the plan, each family member must meet their own individual deductible until the total amount of deductible expense paid by all family members meets the overall family deductible.” How does this work if say, only one family member requires medical care within a coverage year? And say, this one family member meets the exceeds the total family deductible all by himself and yet none of the other family members required medical care?
Individual and family deductibles can be confusing! Once you've met your individual deductible, your insurance will begin to cover more of the expenses. If an individual (or individuals) have enough medical expenses to meet not only their individual deductible, but the family deductible as well, then the insurance will begin to cover more of the expenses for all of the people on the plan.
Why in the world do they write it this way? It would make absolutely no sense to purchase a family plan if every family member had to meet the individual deductible before the insurance company would pay. Thanks for clarifying!
@@MrBossTube It really is very confusing the way it's written. Luckily it works in your favor! If you need any further assistance, please feel free to call us at 888-410-0344. If not, have a great day!
I will be applying over the next couple of weeks. I should be divorced by the end of December but I’m unsure of how long it will be drawn out…what should I put for my marital status? I will def before divorced by the beginning of the year.
Well, once your divorce is final you'll actually become eligible for a special enrollment period. You can update or even change your insurance at that time!
My dad missed open enrollment and is currently uninsured. Tried to apply for Medicaid here in Nevada, but due to how his sole proprietorship income is calculated, he does not qualify. Is there any way he can get a marketplace plan now? I've heard that if you simply apply to Medicaid and receive a denial letter, that alone will enable someone to shop on the marketplace. I need to get him health insurance ASAP and the temporary plans that aren't ACA compliant will not work.
Hi Sean, your father may be eligible for a special enrollment period which would allow him to enroll in a marketplace plan. Please give us a call at 888-410-0344. There's no charge for our services and we can help with the special enrollment period before he misses his window. Best of luck and thank you for your question!
May be a stupid question but I work in the travel healthcare industry. Most of my income comes from tax free stipends out of my paycheck. When the marketplace asks me for my monthly income, do i add in the complete total w/ stipends or just the taxed amount thats reported. Lets say im taxed at 14 an hour but my stipends/per diem totals 1500$ weekly. Do I just report the 14/hour? Looks like im given a nice tax credit because the market place thinks im just making 14$
It's not a stupid question at all! Actually, we've been going back and forth about this one...It's a very gray area. Unfortunately, I would say it's best to confirm with an accountant. You don't want to end up having to pay the tax credit back!
Hi Travis. Yes, you should be reimbursed when you file your taxes unless you owe additional taxes for some reason. Because the lower premiums are just a result of a tax credit paid upfront, some people prefer to just receive the tax credit when they file. Thanks for your question!
There is no penalty for overestimating your income. You could also choose to receive the premium credits when you file taxes as opposed to upfront. Feel free to call or e-mail if you'd like and we can further explain. 888-410-0344.Thanks for your question!

Hi Bob, thanks for your question! There isn't actually an income limit for marketplace plans.
