I discovered this while sick with a flu. Now it's become such a comfort that i have a whole alternate life in my head from this universe. I created a fantasy map of my work in healthcare where I take care of old toads in the forests and caves.
This is so cute. I also love doing this kind of stuff in my head throughout the day 😊
you should post that map somewhere it would be fun
Good job!
Tales under the oak was the first dungeon synth I ever heard. I fell down the rabbit hole and made it my home.
difficult not to ... am sure it goes pretty well with magic mushrooms too
@@Nessh777 Why don't you try it and find out? 😉
Wow so you popped your cherry ? That's great with dungeon synth? Amazing.
私もうさぎの穴に落ちたいです🐰
Can you give other suggestions?
I've looped this so many times that I've become the mushroom wizard.
What’s another favorite dungeon synth album? I can’t find any I like nearly as much as this trilogy so far!
@@sethburkhart1021 my favorite is Castlesiege - The Council of Trees
@@wwyczes9164 thank you very much!
Fief is also some good dungeon synth
@@borislavmarkov4171 that is decent too. Thanks! Maybe it will grow on me even more.
The best of frogessive dungeon synth.
That's a fantastic sub genre name lol
Welcome, Traveler... we've been expecting you for some time now.
This works unexpectedly well as christmas dinner background music
*writes that down*
Listening to this recalls memories of gazing up at big ol' trees when I was five or six years old. Makes me a bit teary eyed, to be honest.
This throws me back, watching Redwall, crafting bows and arrows feom twigs, going on adventures in my yard... Dam
😏👍
This makes me feel like I'm in a fantasy videogame from my childhood and I love it
Legend of Zelda🎉!!!
@@felixader if we switched timelines/universes, and these things we feel melancholy and nostalgia for actually happened at one point, do you think that the parallel side feels nostalgia for things that we have and they don't? It would only make sense after all, things tend to mirror each other at times. Y'know, as Above, so Below if you've heard that.
a lot of their work reminds me of the mines music in castlevania sotn
haha I am literally building a rpg based off my swampy hometown and using this as background music / inspiration !!
Sounds like Final Fantasy 9. Especially Qu's Masrh
For me this music is taking me to old swampy forest, to sunny day in that forest. I imagine a lot of small animals like frogs, lizards, newts, salamanders, shrews, and so, with centipedes ladybugs, antlions, and beatles. As a kid there was a lot of programs where guy was walking through some forest, he was turning rocks, he said "Look! Unique bug!" And he putted it back in place. Other program sowa shrews living in old rotting tree, with owl hunting them. Like "Microcosmos" "Tętno pierwotnej puszczy."
The voice samples are so wholesome and immersive. I want a picture book series or animated series made out of this to show to my kids someday.
this has to become a series ASAP !!!
Beyond the garden wall
In the D&D campaign me and my friends play, I’m a frog-folk wizard. This music is perfect as my character’s soundtrack lol.
One of my players is a cursed frog-folk Spores Druid. Couldn't ever find a proper image to depict him so I used the green slaad until I found *the Toad King* !
Cheers
. :)
i play this at my garden and so many frogs and toads come over, i have video them, they actually love the music, thanks for sharing real magic!
gather round to remember times past the world that was
The little stories are so nice. If there was a book about these toads I’d read it
I'm an young amateur, but my dream is to become an author. I had this idea to write a story based on this magic albums. Maybe it's gonna be terrible and not super original, like, my first language isn't even english but I'll write it thinking about this little silly comment written by probably some amazing person. I'll write it especially for you. If I don't die somehow I'd let you know when I finish. Love.
@@kowalska404 long may you live to tell your tales then. godspeed in your writing little fella 😊
Good luck! We have similar dreams.
@@kowalska404I was thinking to do the same, I just write as a hobby, the music and the art is giving me ideas.
The third album might not have been the best choice for me to listen to while writing intimate scenes for my fantasy novel. That spoken word can catch you off guard. Great music by the way.
If Middle Earth had a nearby continent where the Frog Kingdom thrived. Bilbo and Frodo would enjoy passing through this enchanted land.
I didn''t expect that when I click on this video. I am not disappointed. This music is beautiful.
Truly the best sleeping music
I'll add this to my frog music playlist.
The betrayal I felt when I came to the end of your playlist and not finding any playlist named “frog music”. Not many have experienced such emotions as I have in that very moment.
@@JanDijkstra-fy4ou 😂
Yeh cuz frogs and toads are the same right?.. Racist.
@@ThisIsNotRealityBase You've jumped to the wrong conclusion, this topic is very slippery. I include all amphibious music on the frog playlist, warts and all. I won't let my playlist croak because you spawned a bad take.
Used it before sleeping. Best sleep you will ever have, trust me...🐸
can confirm 😴
Testing it out tonight!
I hope i have cool dreams
why frogs and sleep go hand in hand ?
this is truly the best fantasy synth musick ive heard ever....
this is croaking good
Pure art. Such gentle melodies, soothing to my soul.
This is criminally underrated.
Thank you for sharing this! Found it without looking for it and the toad got my attention... I love it! I'm listening to it while I work and it relaxes me.
The Toad just got me too, and I'm at peace under its intoxicating spell.
It was the toad that mezmerised me and the name In the woods kept seeing it :) The toad is majestic
I was listening to this while playing Wartales. Then in the middle of a dungeon I was jump scared by the story out of nowhere. Best scare of my life. Then the story just made it all the better.
ive only listened to three minutes of this and i already feel at home.
Beautiful, my mind imagines suitable environment for this music
secret of the mushroom wizard goes so hard 🧙♂️
Great early morning fishing trip vibes. Thanks.
Thanks for an amazing dsynth
I'm writing a horror/fantasy novel right now, and this suits perfectly the mood I need. Such a masterpiece! 🖤
Dope!
Wow. I don’t know to say. This came recommended and I was curious to see what it was about. This is beyond amazing. So beautiful. Thank you so much.
Long Live the Toad King 🧙♂
موسيقى غريبة و غريبة جدا... و وحيدة من نوعها... و هذا دليل على عبقرية الملحن... شكرا على مشاركتك ايانا...
Love Tales Under the Oak, love this trilogy! Magnificent 💚
All hail the toad king!
Magical Mysterious and So relaxing Just Fantastic Perfect
Keep this trilogy on loop at work, phenomenal ambience.
Thank you for putting them all in one place
im in love, i need to try shrooms with this
Thanks for helping me concentrate on my job.
What's better than Dungeon Synth? Dungeon Synth with story telling.
guys your channel is just incredible!!!
I have never stumbled upon something like this. And im very intruiged.
The art reminds me of the Edge Chronicles books. Really wonderful music
Thank you so much for unlocking that memory for me. I had faint memories of that book series but could never even begin to conjure an idea of what it was called or who wrote it. Thank you
So beautifully mezmerizing
This is amazing. So atmospheric. I adore this!
My happy place has a soundtrack now
Pure art such gentle melodies soothing to my soul...❤ 1:10
Power to the toads, love this
This is just absolutely wonderful.
Absolutely meditative ❤ Beautiful and inspiring. Thx
So good you put this on vinyl
The first seconds of "A Tale That Keeps Us Warm" remainds me a FFIV
Awesome idea.. toad king.. sampled frogs into ambient tunes 🐸
Happy new discovery thank you ❤
Thanks sharing the outstanding video with magnificent Ambient textures .Musical endeavors are preponderating.Bliss
I never knew of dungeon synth until a week ago. So dope!
Masterpiece
Can't stop listening to dungeon synth I didn't know there was such a plethora of great music from this genre.
Another great band or album you’d recommend? I can’t find any I like this much so far
@sethburkhart1021 Dungeon Synth Archive dude. That channel is epic. Just go for one's that the covers look like RPGs or Books you'd be into, if that makes sense?
@sethburkhart1021 or even go for ones that look like sci-fi movies you'd like. Like there's ones that sound like those old Harryhausen dinosaur movies I like those. I've been working on a dungeon synth type project myself but it's more inspired by 80s Synthrock and 90s sega genesis games.
@@ShaoKahnsCousin good tip. Thanks!
Hole Dweller. If you're cool with a more comfy synth vibe, I really like Grandma's Cottage.@@sethburkhart1021
Amazing, the art is just so on point.
This is just mesmerizing
Man I forgot this was a thing, a wonderful thing 👽👌
Awesome, thank you.
Wow, what a masterpiece!
This is f stunning! I can't stop humming the tunes.
Gusto ko ang psychedelic na ito, hypnotic na tunog, ; 70s tunog eksklusibo sa panahon na ito ng transcendental pagmumuni-muni, ksperimentong musikal at alternatibong paraan ng pag-iisip
This is so fantastical, I love it!
Alright guys, I think I have it. I couldn't find the tales written anywhere, except for the last one, so I wrote the rest: (I'll put here also the last one, as I found on a different video of the last album)
Brogg the Builder
“What a pity.” Sighed a tired toad in a shabby green robe. He was staring at the once beautiful mushroom house, masterfully carved by himself a long time ago, but now it was just an old crooked building with pale moss and thick spider web covering every curve and window. The entrance with the round oaken door almost collapsed and a part of the cap roof fell off. Last pair of winters were obviously too harsh even for such a carefully planned architecture.
It was one of the first projects that he mastered all by himself after finishing the carving school of the great bog. He was then noticed, and after five years of honest hard work he was invited to plan a project of the royal castle together with a few more famous carvers from the far swamps.
It is hard to describe what a huge honour it was for him, and as he saw his name Brogg the Builder woven with a golden thread amongst others on the huge royal carpet decorating the main castle hall, he stood there dazed with a clear thought “This is it, this is the biggest creation of my life.”
However it was surprisingly painful to see that insignificant old creation in front of him slowly vanishing. It was an ordinary house for a simple toad family, but it was where everything started.
“Well..” Muttered Brogg the Builder to himself, waking up from his own thoughts. “This family needs a new home anyway and I will do my best to create the most beautiful thing in a simple way I’ve ever made before.”
The Boat-Toad
Quiet rustling in the thick swamp bushes caught the attention of the little toad playing with his friend in the late summer evening.
“Hush! What was that?”
“I didn’t hear anything, but it could be fish or just the breeze.”
“No, no..” Replied the first toad, a little worried. “That is surely something a little bigger than a fish, and it moves above the water.”
At that moment a sharp boat’s edge appeared out of the plant’s thickness. An old frowning toad was sitting on that boat, made of a dried oiled waterlily with two big sacks on each side of it. Focused on his own thoughts, he did not smile, yet the children could see he was a friendly creature.
“Good evening, little folks.” Said the Boat-toad and coughed. “ I hope I did not disturb your peaceful game. I am just passing by to see if the south corner of the swamp already has something to offer.”
“What is it the swamp can offer you?” Asked one of the little toads, with undisguised interest.
“The finest berries of all the kingdom, of course. Now, have a good evening, little ones. I’ve got no time to waste.” With these words he made two strong pushes with his beautiful, light-weight paddle and disappeared behind the low willow branches.
“Who was that?” Asked the youngest toad.
“That was old Bogg, the Berry-Belly.” Said the other one, proudly. “My granny told me stories about him and his craft. He doesn’t like company but as far as I know, every cure-potion we’ve got for winter is made out of these rare berries he finds. Oh! It is getting late. Let’s get back home before everyone starts to worry about us.”
“I want to be a boat-toad too, when I grow up!” Cried the youngest toad, inspired; catching up with his friend up the hill.
Fogg, The Singing Bow
It was a dark winter night and the wind was howling like a thousand beasts.
For three days, a hunter was chasing a peculiar creature; a faerie bug, of the great bog.
It was such a rare thing to come across this bug, that its shadowed nature started to grow over with dozens of strange stories and myths. Some believe that it was a witch, trapped in the body of an insect; the others thought that it could make your deepest dreams come true.
The hunter himself heard a lot of unbelievable stories like that, but did not believe in them, to be honest.
The only thing he learned from his father is that it was a very rare creature with some half magical properties, and that its meat could feed a few toad families for at least a month long.
So with full dedication, he was chasing the bug over the snow hills and curly dark roots sticking above the frozen ground.
When the hunter grew weary, after hours of his run, he decided to make a humble camp with a bonfire beneath an old oak tree to warm up his tired bones.
He dozed off on a soft bed of moss and suddenly a truly faerie creature appeared in front of him, floating behind the flames.
“I know what you want, hunter.” Whispered the bug. “And you have a choice. You can try to kill me and bring me back to your swamp, to the joy of your folk. Or, you can make your bow sing the most beautiful song. And if my heart sings to it as well, I will make one dearest dream of yours come true.”
The hunter kept silent for a while then stood up, took out his bow and started playing as if it was a harp. A beautiful melody resonated in the bow’s wood, and the faerie bug started to swing slowly.
When the song was finished the bug said “Tell me hunter, what is it that you wish?”
“I wish to feed everyone in my swamp, so that no one would starve, this long dark winter.”
“I will do as you wish, hunter.” Replied the faerie bug, and with a flash of blue light disappeared in the clear night sky, full of shimmering stars.
At least one hundred joyful toads met the hunter that night. They couldn’t believe their eyes, but each cellar of their mushroom houses was full of food of every sort that could be enough to feed them the whole winter, and even the neighbouring swamp east of The Croaked Forest.
The hunter told them his story, and from that time everyone in this swamp in the whole kingdom afterwards called him Fogg, the Singing Bow.
The Hearth
"Dark winter's coming, little fellow
And every song is getting mellow
The folks are gathered round the hearth
To talk and think about their path
Before we see the light of day
The time is right to hear a tale
One tale or two: of winds and fires
To soothe adventurous desires
A tale of simple folks and kings,
Of ancient sorceries and rings
For every taste I'll find a word
About a bug, about a toad
Now listen, bog and dungeon dweller,
My name is Krogg the Storyteller
I’m waiting, friend, this is your turn
To choose a tale that keeps us warm"
helps my productivity, thank you C:
this is lovely ! thank you
Beautiful tune.
I would definitely look in to playing this if it was a video game. Atmosphere is great and fitting of the titles and art.
How can you say that about music? "If this was a video game"... That's like me saying I would like to eat it if it was a cake.
I was trying to give a complement. Of course, I have been enjoying it for the past month. Great music :)
That artwork is ...art
love this kind of music
Lovely! 💚
Ricky the "Toad Rage" Gervais!
Lamenting the past that never existed
I just hit play, and from reading the comments, I think I'm going to like it here.
A masterpiece to be sure
Amazing. Ty!
So I now want to set up a toad enclosure like a stream side with amphibian safe mushrooms as part of the living ecosystem. And introduce a toad to it now. Thanks guys this may cost me a couple grand
Very nice.
Thank you...
Number 5 sounds a lot like an Aphex Twin song... Love this album to bits!
this is amazing
Lovely.
