Its 2024 and I have to say, oh gosh Phil and Mike and whole band, you guys truly gave us something timeless to take into eternity with us... the lights may be fading but our spirits will never fade and that is truth, thank you for making all this awesome music love you guys always and cheers 🍺 ❣ 🎶

He could never get my prog music. Opening of Close to the Edge....in the car...."where are those birds".. Miss u deddy. You were awesome.
Knowing that 'The Last Domino' (now without the question mark) was the last time that Genesis will perform together, this is the perfect farewell song. Thank you to EVERY member of the extended Genesis family for the outstanding legacy of music that you have left behind; the cherished memories and the much-loved soundtrack to so many people's lives - mine especially. A dedicated and talented collection of tribute bands and Steve's Genesis Revisited team will continue to deliver this outstanding legacy as long as planet Earth continues to spin. You will forever be my favourite band - you have been since 1971. You can relax now. You've earned it. Love ya! 🤗👋
@@geoffnorton9279 Thank you Geoff. I'm looking forward to the delivery of my Foxtrot at 50 DVD from Steve's Genesis Revisited as a Christmas gift. It's going to be a happy Christmas. Hope it is for you too.
The 1992 live version must surely rank in the top 5 of all-time Genesis tracks. The wonderful opening chord sequence, Phil's emotive singing, the extraordinary mid section which is up there with Apocalypse in 9/8 and Duke's Travels, Mike's wonderful guitar bridge leading us back into the poignant final lyrical denouement. Sheer genius!
This song touches me a lot, because it is a reflection on the passage of life. The instrumental part and Tony Banks' solo are moments of a work of art!
Lyrics to this legendary Genesis track; 💙 Another time it might have been so different Oh, if only we could do it all again But now it's just another fading memory Out of focus, though the out line still remains Far away, away, fading distant lights Leaving us all behind, lost in a changing world And you know that these are the days of our lives, remember Like the story that we wish was never ending We know some time we must reach the final page Still we carry on just pretending That there'll always be one more day to go Far away, away, fading distant lights Leaving us all behind, lost in a changing world And you know that these are the days of our lives, so remember Another chance hello, another goodbye And so many things we'll never see again Days of lives that seem so unimportant They seem to matter and to count much later on Far away, away, fading distant lights Leaving us all behind, lost in a changing world And you know that these are the days of our lives, remember
One of Genesis' most signature tracks, and one that makes the album stand out so much, and it's understood clearly why it's most people's favorite, been waiting for this to be added. An iconic track, with pure emotion, masterpiece of an instrumental, the message and so much more. One of Genesis' best work, and Truly one of a kind Genesis is, and what a Goodbye for Phil, From Genesis, from this track, and overall the album. Real surprised it says "Since I lost you" Instead of Fading Lights, but hopefully that's just a mistake. All the best legends! 💙👑
Dad, I find myself playing this song and thinking of you. How many times did we listen to this song? I miss you more than words can say. Thank you for my love of music. It is my life. Love you❤
I miss u mom I know u in a better place I will never forget u and ur memories that I really truly adore from my heart forever thx u for everything RIP MOM 😢😢😢
Phil's fantastic vocal performance, fantastic music so much going On in such a beautiful song ,beautiful lyrics Thank you so much Genesis for this beautiful work Brilliant performance 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤❤❤
Tony Banks' lyrics on this track make it seem like a sense of nostalgia that the band had from their 1970s where they made completely different music than they did in 1991 (the year of this record). Even the instrumental session itself with its long synthesizer solo (different from the organ and mellotron if this song was from the first half of the 1970s), resembles tracks from the already distant years of 1971, 1972 or 1973. "These are the days of our lives, so remember". It obviously also sounds like Phil's farewell to the band.
*_[From the "No Admittance" documentary...]_* Interviewer: What do you think is your favourite lyric on this album? Tony: The ones I wrote, undoubtedly, yeah! "Fading Lights", which I wrote quite quickly in fact - Nick _[Davis, co-producer]_ calls it one of my 'terminal songs'... When you're actually experiencing the last time you ever do something, you don't know it's the last time you ever do it, which is an interesting thought, I thought, so I wrote a song about that, just generally looking back. It's a nostalgic sort of song, it could be corny, but I think I was quite pleased with some of the lines.
Fading Lights is my favorite track on the entire album and i think that it sits besides Genesis best, probably Tony's best lyrics, i love the chords and the instrumental section. Now i'm waiting for Calling All Stations, that for some reason disapeared from Spotify, i don't use that thing but i went to use it one day and i was sad that it wasn't there, atleast i listened to Congo because that single is there (along with its B-sides).

One of the best songs Genesis ever made. I've been listening this song for a long time. Still listen it now and again and it never seems to be out of time, and I am sure will continue to be like that through my path. If I am allowed to live a long life, I am certain that I will keep listening to it.
Lovely song. At times a bit similar to the Beatles' In my life. Very nice instrumental part with change of mood & then return to softer section. Another Genesis classic.
Excellent album, We Can't Dance, the greatest commercial success of Genesis, with very varied themes, and excellent progressive themes like this one with which this great album closes. I also really liked Calling All Stations, the last Genesis album, it didn't have the success and recognition it deserved but there was a Genesis faithful to the style of its beginnings.
This was the Collins swan song that gets me emotionally. I can genuinely understand why some Genesis fans consider this to be the last formal track of the band. That said, I still consider myself to be an admirer of the Wilson Era as well. Bring on Calling All Stations! 👍🏾
When I left circus maximus in Rome in summer 2007, one of the greatest evenings in my life, half a million people seemed to be very happy and satisfied. They played this studiotrack after the show to guide the audience out of the arena. And allthough it was such a magnificent evening, hearing a distant Phil singing "Another chance hello, another goodbye...And so many things we'll never see again" I suddenly became very sad. Because I knew, I would never see them again. And I still think, Rome 07 was the better way to say goodbye, than London 22
Another time it might have been so different Oh, if only we could do it all again But now it's just another fading memory Out of focus, though the out line still remains Far away, away, fading distant lights Leaving us all behind, lost in a changing world And you know that these are the days of our lives, remember Like the story that we wish was never ending We know some time we must reach the final page Still we carry on just pretending That there'll always be one more day to go Far away, away, fading distant lights Leaving us all behind, lost in a changing world And you know that these are the days of our lives, so remember Another chance hello, another goodbye And so many things we'll never see again Days of lives that seem so unimportant They seem to matter and to count much later on Far away, away, fading distant lights Leaving us all behind, lost in a changing world And you know that these are the days of our lives, remember...
I think this is the most significant song Genesis ever presented. Heartfelt and so beautiful. I wasn't really there for you, Mom near the end...please forgive me.
This one takes almost 4 minutes to get started. The chorus sounds like a soap opera, (it even includes the line, "These are the days of our lives") but the instrumental is worth the wait. Note the nod to Ripples in the melody. Along with Duke's Travels, Home/Second Home, and Me & Sarah Jane, this is one of my top 80's Genesis songs.
This just sits so well with me. So many of Genesis songs and tracks do but this…. This is a summary of certainly my own recent history if not much much longer… life long Genesis fan… is there anything Tony Mike and Phil couldn’t write about (preceding line up of Peter and Steve etc also…) ? This hits musical chords yes but also some real chords of life as well… This and Afterglow I found i listened to with a different ear post a very significant bereavement in my own life… These dear souls, musical treasures of, and called Genesis seemed to and probably still can too, write with such ease…profound music and lyrics that can stir any given emotion or feel…
Chanson sur la Nostalgie des Jeunes Années et des Premières Amours qui ne sont que des " Lumières qui s’estompent " ( Fading Lights) Cette chanson est également 1 sorte d’Adieu de Phil Collins à Genesis qu’il quittera après le " we can’t dance Tour" PHIL,YOUR DEPARTURE,OUR SADNESS .......😥🥲😉😍👌✌❣🇧🇪
Not too fond of most of their later output but this is an exception--what a way to end an album! I have to remember to turn my Sound System down when the middle section kicks in because of moaning neighours!

Such an amazing closer to the final album of the Collins era. I do hope we get “Calling All Stations” next week despite the album being slaughtered by both the Gabriel and Collins era fans despite Ray Wilson sounding much akin to the former vocalist (Gabriel) in most of the songs.
At 8:56, Phil really sounds like Peter Gabriel!!! It’s astonishing, because I’m sure that Phil is not trying to imitate Peter; certainly not at this point! It’s fascinating to think that back in 1970, Phil has been chosen only for his drumming skills. They didn’t know that Phil could sing that good, and most surprisingly that sounded so much like Pete. That’s luck, it just happened that their drummer had a similar voice to their singer, but a higher and thiner voice and less raspy.

É uma pena que nesta última tournée do Genesis,não tenham vindo ao Brasil......só me resta ouvir seus grandes discos.....
Brazil has the best music fans! It is a shame Genesis never went there like Rush did-and who loved the fans!✌️😊🇧🇷
