I had every single CD, Redrock and Avalon, my favorites. Even after all these years will listen to them at night. Thank you John Tesh for helping my depression in ways you will never know.
I took my teenage daughter to see this concert in Topeka Kansas. Watching the powerful control Tesh used on the piano was inspiring. Several times she and I had tears in our eyes from the sheer beauty of the music. Daughter bought me the CD for my birthday; I have now purchased all the John Tesh CDs and still today, they remain my favorite music ♥ Thank you John, for sharing your gift with the world.

Still one of my favorite albums ever. Whenever I want to relax and transport myself to another place at the piano, I pull out my Avalon book and play it. The rock version and the slow soothing version of the same theme - just genius. The album plays like a film score. So beautiful. I remember seeing you in concert in Virginia with some friends in the late 1990s, and the music from this album was front and center. My favorite concert of all time. I loved every minute of it. You inspired me as a songwriter. I was fortunate enough to record some of my music in a studio before getting married and having kids. I don't know how you did it all and raised a family! I've just learned about your book and your battle with cancer. I can't wait to get a copy. Thank you for sharing your amazing story. And God bless you for sharing your talent with the world. I hope I get to hear you in concert again some day in the post-covid entertainment boom! You are a treasure and I hope you know how much your music has blessed, influenced and impacted so many people like me.
I got a $130 speeding ticket to the blasting sound of John Tesh at Red Rock. Thank God it was before the surcharges and it was in Maine, so out of state for me.
I saw John perform his Avalon concert in Spokane Washington when he went in tour just after I watched this concert on PBS. I was mesmerized by the TV show. My wife had gone away for a girls camp for our church and I heard about the concert on the radio-a jazz/new age station-and immediately went to buy tickets. I asked how much front row seats were, and bought ones as close as were available for $38.00! I was on the right side of the stage with nothing in front of me! Best money I had ever spent on myself! But, during the concert, he started playing some of his romantic songs and suggested we all find someone next to us to get close to. I sat there, alone and wishing my wife had been able to come along. The concert was everything I had seen on the TV and more! The musicians!-Superb! The sound!-Spectacular! The showmanship!-Unmatched! Everything was magical! He and several others at one point were playing on portable, microphoned instruments. They disappeared, but you could hear them. They had gotten in the elevator and went up to the highest balcony to do a mini concert for the people in the cheap seats! That’s just the kind of guy John is! As a teenager, I had gone with my folks to see John Denver twice when he came to Spokane. Everyone was singing his songs with him and it was a memorable, Spirit-filled concert. Though John Tesh’s concert had very little signing, that same Spirit was present, and I thrilled at having the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this complete concert, live. I will never forget it. Thanks, John!
As I sit in Afghanistan...watching this great performance it takes me back into a time machine. I saw you in Kansas City at the Starlight Theater in the early 90's John. So cool to see this and be transported to another place. We're all blessed that you recovered and we have you for a little longer in this life producing wonderful uplifting sounds!
I am glad you are home. 🇺🇲 Thank you for serving our Beautiful Country if you were in the Military but Grateful you are safely back where you should be.
I watched the PBS special when it aired, I was 5. I watched the VHS recording daily after that. Learned to play the piano. :) Twenty years later, I'm soooooo glad this is available online. A piece of my childhood right here.

This video was a huge influence on me when I was starting to play guitar, back when I was 13... Needless to say my playing doesn't sound anything like the guys in the show - but this concert still sounds really amazing!
Love the music of John Tesh. Amazing to experience the genius of his music and hear of the miracles in his life. It inspires you to develop a higher level of believability of what is i store for you!
We listened over and over, lost count already. What a wonderful performance. Went to his concert at Pepperdine U. and wish I was at Catalina island during this performance.
John and Connie, did the night news and like they fell in love with each other in front of the the camera on the news show they worked on. He has grown sooo much and multi talented. I’d like to hear more about Connie and child. Thank you
I watched on tv or we watched them fall in love. The show was where they announced they get married. We fell in love with them. Do they have children? John’s talent is awesome! I will get to hear him as much as I can! 🙏🙏🙏
Hi John. I visited Avalon many years ago with my aunt, uncle, cousin, and a friend of my cousin. My uncle was the one who introduced me to this Avalon album. I'm a railfan, and I listen to this album while standing trackside waiting for trains to come by my camera. I also work on a railroad for a living, and I've played this many times at work in the railroad mechanical shop, and it makes everything more relaxing because working on the railroad is a stressful job.
I was "dragged" to this concert in San Antonio by my wife and another couple. All I new of John Tesh at the time was ET. The fact that we would have great seats and a drink waitress helped a bit. It was outdoors at the historic Sunken Gardens Theater. It was was one of the best concerts I have been to - still to this day. I ran out and bought the CD the next day. It was second only to the Rush R30 tour when I had front row seats and got to meet Alex & Geddy before the show. I remember seeing this on PBS but was never able to find the video in the stores. This will suffice for now. Thanks for posting it!

Goodnight Moon! We used to read a bedtime story to our kids by that name 26 and 28 years ago. You brought a tear to my eyes. Who was the vocalist for that song?
My husband and my parents were blessed to be apart of this Live taping of this album in Catalina . John paid for everyone’s boat ride over it was invited guest only
wow. I remember a friend of mine had this on VHS back in the day. My other musician friends and I used to get stoned and watch this all the time lol. Now almost 20 years later, the musicianship is still jaw dropping. Even better than I remember it. So glad it's on TH-cam.
John, My wife and I had the pleasure of seeing your performance at DTE Energy Music Theater, just north of Detroit, about 15 or so years ago. We remember you telling everyone that the airline had lost your bags, and the only shoes you had were a pair of flip flops! Rather funny, but it certainly didn't affect your playing at all. I still remember how your fingers seemed to dance across the keys, and your electronic violinist was quite the performer as well!
Yes, it is both beautiful and wonderful! I grew up here and when my time comes it is where I'll die. I have a small recording studio that overlooks Avalon bay. Just me and my three dogs and a whole bunch of musical instruments. I'm a very fortunate guy.
Adriana Sparkle, I love your name! And yes, I enjoyed it very much! Everybody attending loved it too. This video is very well done, with beautiful arial of the island. The best footage of the Island I have ever seen actually. And being from Catalina, I have seen lots. And John's music translates very well to the video, but being in the room as it's happening is really just magical.

25:57 At long last, after _years_ of searching and wondering what this sweet little musical number was, I have _finally_ found it; on John Tesh's Avalon CD collection, it appears as an "Untitled Track", and a _hidden_ track, at that. When I was a child, listening to Tesh's music was very therapeutic for me, and I'm so glad to know there were others who may have slumbered to this lovely tune. "Goodnight Moon" it is. :) From what I can hear, the lyrics are: Close your eyes and drift away Touch the stars and the sky on your way Say your prayers and know that soon The rising sun will bid goodnight moon.

This video reminds me of the PBS video of Yanni playing at the Acropolis in Athens many years ago. I believe Linda Grey( actress on the TV show Dallas) as a sponsor of this performance.
Thankyou soo much John.I have looked for a copy of this video.Even PBS doesnt have it! This one of my favorite performances of all time! I wore out two CDs!
You are an amazing Musician, composer, author. All talented person roll into one. Your music inspire me no end. Thank you for sharing your incredible talents to us. God bless you. :)
Remembering "John Tesh: The Avalon Concert", which first ever aired as part of KPBS San Diego's March 1997 Membership Campaign, Circa March 18, 1997 and still remembering when John Tesh visited the KPBS studios where he asking for membership support for public television in San Diego!!
Hello John. I've always loved your music, and musical talent. I watched the Live At Red Rocks concert on PBS, and also Avalon on PBS as well. By the way, your version of Barcelona at your Avalon concert in 1997 is my favorite so far between the Avalon and Red Rocks versions. Thank you for your contribution of melody and song to the world. I noticed that you used the Kurzweil K2500xs during your Avalon concert in 1997. If you don't mind, what do you think about the K2500xs, it's sounds, capabilities as a workstation, and it's durability in touring. Thank you John Tesh in advance.
.......to this day...even though its been 27 years....i still consider this one of the most endearing concerts ive ever watched.....let alone on PBS!!!!!...it also is a bittersweet nostolgic experience for me in that my Mother was also watching it with me and loved it as well!!...sadly...she passed away 9 years ago....that memory will always be special to me!! does anybody know if this presentation (on blue ray) is available????.......all i see on Amazon is the audio recording...no video recording of any kind! what gives?...i mean...i know it was shown on PBS in 1997.......i guess when all is said and done..i may have to see if PBS sells copies of the live show!
I'm trying to improve my piano skills. Reading your bio and watching your concerts is a great motivation for me. It's very rewarding attempting to learn something like the Mendelssohn Spinning song instead of just listening to it on my iPod. So thanks John.

Hi LOM1911. I Wholeheartedly Agree with You!!❤❤ I am a John Yeah Lover, All the Way!! I have his CD Soundtrack, to this particular show, but I don't have anything on DVD. But If this was Released on Blu-Ray!! That Would be Cool, too!!😊😊
Hi John! Listener since 5 years old, in '95 (kid in the car during Live @ Red Rocks type situation) and I just noticed a musical parallel between a piece of yours here at 15:33 and the most "iconic" theme from the OST of a little video game that can be described as "a gravity-flipping Mario game in space". Anyway, the chord structure lines up almost perfectly between your piece L'Aquila at 15:33 and this piece called "Positive Force" from a game called "VVVVVV"! th-cam.com/video/Tp3qiOKuEBM/w-d-xo.html (at about 0:41 you can hear it) It is chip tune music, so pardon that, but it's a delightful parallel and I've always wondered why I loved that track so much in that game: it's practically a John Tesh composition! 🤣 p. s. someone did a piano arrangement of another version of the same theme that's easier on the ears: th-cam.com/video/BASgTQGjdEg/w-d-xo.html
I can relate to the kid in the car listening to red rocks on cassette. I remember wanting to listen to all the things my friends were listening to like Spice Girls, Britney Spears, and Backstreet Boys, but years later, my, oh, my I’m grateful I grew up listening to this in the car instead
John, did you ever do a version of "I can't make you love me"? I heard a piano version of that song and I thought I heard your name as the artist who performed the song. If you did not, you might want to do a solo piano version of that song.
I remember this very well 20 years ago when this came out, I was still in High School and my favorite is still Roundball Rock the theme to the NBA on NBC and this was back when Michael Jordan still RULED the NBA
On last Monday, 4th of July my family and I went to Catalina Island, I tried to find out which house is the one that John used to take the picture of the CD and where he recorded some of the songs but I wasn’t sure of which one. There’s one on top that may be the one. John, do you have any behind the scenes pictures or videos that I can see to see which is the house? Thank you!
Maybe it's me but did you notice that the loudest cheer came when John started playing Roundball Rock? Probably the only piece of music in John's repertoire that most people recognize? ("Oh yeah, the old NBA on NBC theme music").
Bonjour M. Tesh, J'organise un concert dans la province de Quebec en francais. Seriez-vous interesse de participer? Sinon, connaissez-vous une orchestre de musique classique qui serait disponible en septembre 2019?

So happy to see the full show on You Tube. I have been looking for years. Thank you!!
I'm crying right now.
This video reminds me of the PBS video of Yanni playing at the Acropolis in Athens many years ago. I believe Linda Grey( actress on the TV show Dallas) as a sponsor of this performance.
Fantastic!! Had a copy in VHS!!
Conocí tu musica en la radio una madrugada de 1995 desde siempre me acompaña, gracias por tu obra
Thank you for your love and support which has brought me this far, it's has been a hard time for me but you supports has got me standing even in difficult times, I can't appreciate enough, the support of fans who have prayed for me, I welcome you to my TH-cam channel.

And many more .
What? 65 already ? by this time... closer to 70?
God bless you for uploading this!! I’ve been looking for this since watching it on PBS back in 1996
I’d really like to see this released on Blu-Ray.
Hi LOM1911. I Wholeheartedly Agree with You!!❤❤ I am a John Yeah Lover, All the Way!! I have his CD Soundtrack, to this particular show, but I don't have anything on DVD. But If this was Released on Blu-Ray!! That Would be Cool, too!!😊😊
And remastered full wide screen with Dolby Atmos

(at about 0:41 you can hear it)
It is chip tune music, so pardon that, but it's a delightful parallel and I've always wondered why I loved that track so much in that game: it's practically a John Tesh composition! 🤣
p. s. someone did a piano arrangement of another version of the same theme that's easier on the ears:

I can relate to the kid in the car listening to red rocks on cassette. I remember wanting to listen to all the things my friends were listening to like Spice Girls, Britney Spears, and Backstreet Boys, but years later, my, oh, my I’m grateful I grew up listening to this in the car instead
Big fan of yours love your music
John, did you ever do a version of "I can't make you love me"? I heard a piano version of that song and I thought I heard your name as the artist who performed the song. If you did not, you might want to do a solo piano version of that song.
BLESSED MUSICANT
This music should be called music to action scenes to movies
Amazing
Love you forever .... instagram ?
I love your music sir !!
I haven't stopped crying since this song was released.
I remember this very well
20 years ago when this came out, I was still in High School and my favorite is still Roundball Rock the theme to the NBA on NBC and this was back when Michael Jordan still RULED the NBA
Thanks for the post. I wore out my vhs copy. Epic show.
Chuckle .
What a beautiful band!!
With flamingos !
54:03 ahhh when that exploded! It's still got that amazing feels
Thank you!
Awesome!
True . If you play piano , the sound of a grand piano is the best !
la alquila one of favorite songs.
*Salúdame Sr. Tesh!! kokoro plox!*
whats the song at 1:14:00 ? the one after discovery with kids
Maybe it's me but did you notice that the loudest cheer came when John started playing Roundball Rock? Probably the only piece of music in John's repertoire that most people recognize? ("Oh yeah, the old NBA on NBC theme music").
Do you have anything to tell me John Tesh? I am Susan's husband and have always been since 1997.
I wonder if that's the Kurzweil K2500x, or the K2500xs that John Teah is using in this concert.
💯 💯 💯
Is this Tony Robbins fav music?
Bonjour M. Tesh, J'organise un concert dans la province de Quebec en francais. Seriez-vous interesse de participer? Sinon, connaissez-vous une orchestre de musique classique qui serait disponible en septembre 2019?
how did they get that piano out onto the back patio??

Jt forever
who is avalon is that the name of your orchestra members
Avalon is a place . It is supposed to be the island burial place of King Arthur . Google it .
Avalon is also the name of the bay on Santa Catalina Island where this concert was recorded. The building is an iconic casino…
I think the man on the bongo drums in the Safari outfit may have gotten a little too excited......
Do I see G.E. Smith as one of the cool guitarists?
Where was this taped at ?
John Tesh thank you john avalon is now my favorite one of ur songs . :)

Tesh.
He gets around
John ought to tour with yanni again ...after all it was John tesh who introduced yanni to the world
That is interesting to know. Love Yanni. Ah! But John Tesh is an absolute maestro!
John asked Yanni if he could join his first tour as a keyboardist. Then Yanni is the one that helped John get his first recording contract.
Tesh and Yanni ! One more time . I'd buy that cd too .
