I use to work in an arcade that served food and when we figured this out we were all in the kitchen one night before closing making personalized key chains. That was twenty years ago now. Probably one of the dumb guys in the kitchen left a container on top of the oven and it melted and we refined the idea.
if you cannot see the #6, try flicking plastic with your finger nail have another non #6 plastic to compare sound. The real #6 will have a tinny higher pitch sound when tapped, quite different from the non shrinky type plastic.

I've only been seeing 1 in my triangles, and I've heard it will as well, do you know if this is true and if so will the time and temperature remain the same?
just to check, can we sandwich the two plastic sheets together with a cardboard image added between them? will it affect the final product after baking?
I'm confused by the type of plastic container cause I get a lot from the store that look exactly like this one and appear just as thick but they say number one. It's like nothing comes in number 6 containers and when I have seen it, it isn't cuttable.
Bro after a long search I found one plastic which is very hard but it is PS plastic, it is a galaxy jewel no it's hard will it work I mean it's so hard to cut
I've melted plastic in my oven lots of times and it seems fine- I wouldn't put the plastic right on a tray you use for food though- use foil or a separate tray.
@@ericajordan188 I actually ended up trying it about a day ago. It did not work well. I must also say that the plastic was not smooth. It was textured. It was a fun experiment though.
Each number on the plastic represents a different process used to manufacture that type of plastic and it is numbered so that when recycled they can be properly reused without messing up the structure of the plastic. Some are more flexible, some can be rolled out thinner, some hold color better than others....
I don't think so... those bottles don't use plastic number 6 (which you need for this to work). You're best chance is to find some clamshell containers that they usually use for sushi or in cafeterias 🙂

Can you use sandpaper to sand down these plastics so that it’s not shiny? And then use coloured pencils? That’s my preferred method of colouring in 😅
sure! You can absolutely sand and use colored pencils:)
Will try. Thank you so much for the idea! Are sharpies the only thing we can use to color with?

Will acrylic paint work for something like this or is sharpies the only thing really?
You should seal the acrylic
And idk about baking it
I saw the number 6 on clear plastic plates but they are very brittle to cut so not all number 6 plastic?
Number 6 is a little brittle. You do need to be careful cutting it.
Just in case if anyone has ever tried this can plz tell me if it actually worked out for you 👌
If you have the right plastic it works! 😊 Have fun! 🎉
yes it worked! mine turned a little small since i used a small piece of plastic, so you kinda have to use a bigger one.

Super cute 👌
Can I cook it in the same oven I use for food or will it release toxine ?
I would open a window if you can. It will not damage your oven though. Probably best to air it out before cooking in it.
Can I use the marked 1 plastic or it have to be 6
I can’t find that plastic anywhere lol, at least here we use plastic 2 for the takeaway boxes, I’ve never seen that type of plastic
In the US this plastic is used most often at delis and as other take out containers.
Is it ok if its more than 6 and can i derectly put the paper on it instead of drawing on plastic

I don't believe so. On standard shrinky dink packaging it specifies not to use a microwave oven
do I need to sand both sides of the plastic???
You just need to sand one side, if you are going to used colored pencils. The rough texture makes the colored pencil stick to the plastic.
