    Properly conducted rescue operation. No panic, no stupid moves. Great job!

    How would you like to encounter a nice long length of chain link fence (like that at around 7:00) hung on a log jam or spanning a rock garden in a flow like that one? Yes, I have seen it during channel cleanup operations. Cleared it after running a chainsaw, and a boat mounted winch and grapple from the downstream side. Not something I would want to get trapped in on a downstream run! All kinds of nasty stuff washing down, and ready and willing to reach out and get us. Be safe, have fun.

      Haha pretty much, gotta get off the log and safe before i worry about my gear. It was all recovered in the end

    All the way around good job! That's the way you want to use that throw bag, and how to do the self-rescue part. Glad you got your boat back! Where'd the third kayaker go? That was the one negative of the whole thing. You always eddy out and wait for your mates, for exactly the reason the video shows. By continuing on, that person was putting him/herself in danger. Who is going to rescue him or her if something goes sideways?

    Most videos only show the carnage. This one shows the reality.

    I don't think this had anything to do with your skill level. You couldn't see the wood hazard, it was just unlucky.

      failing to stop and check when you can't see is a lack of skill

      @@goji059 as he approached the rapid, the right side of the shore turned into a cliff. He could have gotten out before then and tried to scramble up to the top of the cliff and looked down. But the water looks fast and high, it can be hard to stop and get out on shore sometimes.

    looks like it could have been a lot worse. Log pin is scary

      Yeah totally! When I crashed into the log , i leaned down steam and did everything I could to get on top of the log, and stay on the surface. The last thing I wanted to do was go under a strainer

    That was scary, glad you were ok. Did you ever find your boat and paddle?

      Yes I did I spent 3 days hiking up and down the creek. but all gear was recovered thankfully

    I don't think you will get a lot of criticism, dumb luck really. It's one of the hazards. Crazy run for first year paddling tho!! It did become my fav thing too. Seems like you should of stayed further away from that lumber tho, looked like there was a bit randomly in riv to be fair; and was it suggested you go that way in the beginning? Always good to see a win on the rescue and eventual gear recovery. Thanks for sharing

    Hey man...what section of Eagle Creek is this? I've paddled the creek several times but I don't recognize this rapid at all....and it's much bigger than anything I've ever seen on the creek.

    Can I ask what happened at the end? I'm not familiar with this sport. Why were you guys running at the end and using the whistle?

    • @StupidStuffProductions
      @StupidStuffProductions 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Whistles are used to alert the other paddlers of a emergency. They where running to get the boat.

      Someone could rescue a kitten, gives gifts to all children in an orphanage, save an elderly lady from being plowed, and deliver a baby in the span of 20 minutes and still get a thumbs down. Some people suck!
