You're literally describing so many of my complaints with romances - which I LOVE!! (the genre. And the fact that you're talking about it). Give me stakes, give me character development, realistic falling in love, conflict. In other words, an actual story 😂 Also, I cannot stand when characters start talking treacly, sickly sweet, lovey dovey nonsense once they express their feelings for each other.

I have coffee, snackies and sit in my blanket nest.. This week has been brutal for me with my chronic illnesses.. my hip has between out of place for far to long after sleeping wrong.. :( plus we just passed my dad's birthday(the 3rd without him) which was so much harder then expected... but thank you. You are a bright spot in my week. I think we would of been friends if we lived local but i am so thankful you have put yourself out here. It means i have people like me on in internet i can relate to!!

I FINALLY had my first really good book for the year. Shadows of You by Catherine Cowles (romantic suspense). I’m more than half way done with a mystery called Secrets of Grady by JL Hyde. You have to read Grady Lake first but her books are like 200 pages so they are quick. But sooooo good. Romances for me have been quite Meh for the most part the last few months.

Totally agree about The Fury!! Ultimately I gave it 3 or 3 1/2 stars. I loved The Silent Patient and really enjoyed The Maidens. This…. Not so much
