Thank you for this amazing video! Really clear instructions! Just received my machine today and your video has given me the quick start information that I need to get going. 🙂
I just purchased this machine today, and have never done machine embroidery. Your video is exceptional!!! I've saved it so I can watch again once I unbox!! Thank you so very much!!!
Probably one of the best instructional videos on ANY product I've ever purchased! I was glued to the video the entire time and the time just flew by. I would hav easily watched another 45 minutes of this!! Awesome teacher! Now I feel ready to attack my first project. THIS is how you do it! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Greatly Appreciated
I got this machine a few days ago. I already have a Brother Quattro for 15 yrs. I got the 1700e machine to do more embroidering or as a backup if my Quattro needs servicing. Love Brother machines. Great instuctions. Thank you.
Thank you! I just received this machine and had no idea how to use it. You did a superb job with the details on this instructional video. Now I don't feel intimidated and can move forward. I appreciate you!
Amazing, thank you so much. Just picked up my NQ1700e. I had no idea how super it was!!! Thank you so much...great tutorial. You make everything so clear.
Thank you, thank you, thank you,.....you're the best. I wish you had more videos about this machine. I wouldn't look for anywhere else to learn embroidery.
i didn't watch this until after my first attempt which failed miserable and I caught the mistakes I think I must have made. Even though it is similar to the SE600 sewing and embroidery machine by Brother the size difference is intimidating( the mistakes seem bigger also) Thanks for your very thorough steps to help me get off to a better start!
This was a fantastic video! You answered all my questions regarding the Brother 1700e with your clear instructions. I have saved the video for future reference and subscribed to your channel. Thank you, thank you…
Thank you, so much for your clear and easy to understand tutorial. I learned so much and you answered so many questions I have. I felt like I was right there with you. Your a great teacher. 😊
Thank you for this very informative video. I just picked up my new machine today and this was such a big help in getting familiar with all the features of the machine.
I just bought mine today and this time with a new machine I told myself to watch a video first. Seem to always jump the gun and end up having to watch videos anyway...Haha. This was great. My first embroidery machine and can't wait to get started. Do you videos on the software for this model? Thank you for all your time and effort.
Your video is very informative. I just got my machine last week and your demonstrations give me a better understanding of how to use the 1700E. I have actually placed it on a sewing machine desk and will use it this weekend. Thank you so much for giving me the courage to use it! By the way where do I get a stylus to use with the machine?

Hi Pat. I watched your entire video. It was exceptional. Do you by chance have a video of using the nq1600e? That is what I have and I can honestly say I have not seen one half as good as your presentation for the 1700. I bought my nq1600e just 1 month prior to the 1700 and I was very upset over it.
Thank you. I just bought my first embroidery machine I didn't have any idea how to use it. Thank you so much for explaining everything. It was really helpful. I do have a question about the needle choice. I will be embroidering on a felt fabric for 90% of the time. Which needle would you recommend? You mention different seized. What is the differents?
Hi you wer excellent 👌🏼 I have been searching for a video like this, I wud be happy if u cud explain a little about the tension specially the on top of the jump stitch cutter, as my machine chews up the fabric and the bobbin thread show on top, the stitches look tight, wat am I doing wrong it’s a brand new machine and for this reason I haven’t touched it, please make a video only on tension please please help thanks 🙏🏼
Hi! Loved your instructional video! I have a question about threading with a Floriani cone like you have done. Appears to be the same size as you are using. When I try to thread using the small spool cap in the small end of the cone, with the large end towards the back as you've shown , my thread distributes from the top of the cone instead of from underneath as the diagram shows on the machine. Is this okay when using the cone threads?
Any advice on how to use Floriani mini king spools on this machine? ( the wide end of the spool has to face the opposite direction ie facing left not right, in order for the thread to unwind coming from the recommended direction. I have a separate thread stand but this led to tension problems and a broken needle. Never had this problem with my Bernina.
We have used Floriani Thread with this machine and have had no problem. We would recommend using the mini spool cap that comes with this machine that is made to fit inside a spool of embroidery thread. Hope this helps!
Changing the background color would be helpful to cahnge to the color of what you are embroidering on. You would be able to see how your purple thread will show up on your purple fabric.
Thank you for this video - i just received my machine and i know this will help me get started. My question: what usb is best to use with this machine: a 2.0 or 3.0 or something else?
thank you for this video, I learned a lot. Question: is there a way to make the stitching denser. I am working with letters and they are not thick enough
I have been checking this machine out so I need all these videos to review it. In Canada it's $2000 plus tax It would be an upgrade from my Brother PE770 I really like the Luminaire 3 but the $24, 000 plus tax puts a stop to buying that one.
I just received my NQ1700E a few weeks ago. Please clear up some confusion for me. The book says to use 90 wt. bobbin thread . I see you use 60 wt. Will the difference in weight cause a problem?
My new machine was jumping stitches from the very beggining and so I went and adjusted the bobbin tension bu t I think the tension should come correct as a new machine, right?

Thank you for your quick response, I want to be able to use the machines WIFI ability, I want to be able to buy some Disney characters, I get on my computer, buy from Etsy, they send me an email with the design, that I’m supposed to use a USB stick, I’m so new at this, not sure if it’s me or not, but I don’t have clear directions how to get the design. If I used computer, buy the design and have WiFi, I just want to be able to have it go straight to my machine. If you could give me some clear directions on how to get these designs, I’d appreciate it. I have Windows 10 On my PC.
You can either use a USB stick by downloading the right .PES format, and put your USB stick into your machine. OR download Design Database Transfer on your computer, put your design in there, and make sure your computer and machine are connected to the same wifi. Hope this helps!
When you are inserting it in the groove at no 7 the the camera doesn’t show what the groove is, the are things that are obscuring the view. This is what happens when people that are not AV professionals try to make a video. I would think a company like Brother had enough budget to hire Audio/Visual professionals or who ever it is that is trying to produce this. There is nothing more annoying than amateurs trying to make instructional videos 😣 This is a terrible representation.
Thank you for this amazing video! Really clear instructions! Just received my machine today and your video has given me the quick start information that I need to get going. 🙂

Mine came with the stylus in the little white tool pack.
I am a beginner who already decided to move up from a PE535 to an almost new NQ1700E and I really appreciate all the details you covered.
I am now deciding which one to buy because I have a PE535 too..... do you think PE800 or this one that you buy?

What thread do you use for this machine for embroidery?

Hi Jessica, you should bring your machine in to your local service technician so they can troubleshoot/help you fix your machine.
PES file. Question. When I go to save...what does this additional ending mean. PESv11, PESv10. Etc. Thank you
What is the max size hoop that can be used with ths machine ??
This machine has a 6"x10" maximum embroidery field
When I use the cap to hold the thread in, the thread wraps around , makes it tight and it and breaks
What stylus are you using?
Hi LaVeta, Pat is using a standard Touch Pen Stylus that we sell here: sewing.net/products/touch-pen-for-lcd-screens
