    Hey Dennis! Thanks for the video! Do you know the angle of the gable ends if I did this for a twin mattress?

    • @dwcoffey
      @dwcoffey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching, Relly! I'd just do them at 45 degrees, then you only have to modify the length of the gable boards to make up for the added width. I'm working on some plans to post online, I'll try to get some made for twin mattress dimensions too.

    What angle is the 2×4 cut on the uprights?

    • @dwcoffey
      @dwcoffey  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm really sorry it took me so long to reply, this comment got stuck in YT's filter. I cut everything to be 45 deg angles so that the peak angle between the two boards is 90 degrees. Thanks for watching!

    Great Video! How would you go about building one of these for a twin size mattress?

    • @dwcoffey
      @dwcoffey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching, Art! The length and width will be pretty easy, just make those members the size of the mattress. I'd have to recalculate the angle of the gable ends, based on the width.

    • @dwcoffey

      Thanks for watching, Maria! I used 2" coarse pocket hole screws for assembling the ends and knock down screws to attached all the beams between the ends. I have included links for all the supplies and tools in the video description. Thanks!

    Hello! Do you remember the number of boards you bought? Example how many 2×4s? Thanks! This is amazing.

    • @dwcoffey
      @dwcoffey  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Sarah! I appreciate you watching! I bought 8pcs 2x4x8ft boards. I basically started cutting my longest pieces first, then cut the longest possible out of the drops, etc until I had all my pieces. Seems like I had very little waste when done. Thanks!!

    Hi. Thank you. I was asked to build one but I have to go a little wider. So my outside dimension is 36” on gable ends. How do I figure out my gable end (rafters) measurements, using 2x3s, 45 degrees at one end?? Thank you!!

    • @dwcoffey
      @dwcoffey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! If you're 45 degrees at one end, take your 36", divide by 2 (because you have 2 rafters) = 18 inches. Multiply by 1.414, that equals 25-1/2". That is centerline to outside, so you have to account for your material width, etc, but that should help you lay it out.

    So hold up. The 44’s were cut at a 35 degree? What’s the actual length and angle cut? I’m just trying to make my son a bed. I don’t care to be guessing but you do just kinda throw the first half of the vid together without providing much info. The video description just says mitered.

      No problem at all. I really should have included a drawing in the video, it would have been more helpful. This bed has held up through 2 grandkids so far, and has been moved 3 or 4 times. I kept the angles at 90 and 45 just to keep things simple. Please let me know if I can provide any other dimensions, etc. I'll be glad to. Thank you for watching!
