Response of the winbox was that thing what helps me choose mikrotik! Of course price, availability, docs and CHR were other aspects but this responsive was crucial!!! Please do not broke it! 😊
Another great video, small correction about the "Anything you can configure on RouterOS can be done so on Winbox" statement which isn't 100% accurate as there are many features hidden from Winbox that you can only access from the CLI like the newly released (Somehow already 5 months old) IS-IS protocol on MikroTik. It's also worth noting that some configurations like MPLS-TE Paths when configuring hops from Winbox it does not collect the information properly having to resort to applying the configuration from the CLI. And when looking at the same config that has just been applied from the CLI on Winbox it is blank. So even though I love winbox, it has a lot of jankiness to it that you need to be aware of and understand that sometimes you need to get into the terminal to fix things.
New winbox, awesome! Small feature request: can you add the option to have one centralized database (for example on a NAS or SharePoint) and have it accessible by multiple employees/engineers? Bonus points if you can set access permissions for groups, like a shared password manager can. Or even restrict menu's within Winbox, make certain items read-only and others full read/write (like a beefed up version of Webfig skins)
You can already do that (and could do it for 15 years). Just move the Winbox database to a shared Dropbox/Gdrive/BOX/ or any other folder, that is synced with other team members.
New gen of Winbox? Woooooo, I hope a dark mode! ❤❤❤. And yes, for maximun security i'm agree that console port is the right, but not all devices have one. If you can't put RJ45 or DB9 as always, so you can put some mini-usb, micro-usb or usb-c as console port like Cisco.
previously MikroTik was selling usb dongle with WIFI, which allow to connect to router and giving console via WEB interface. pretty handy in some cases
Thank you for your video. As a new user without deep networking background i found a bit difficult to have the information needed to have things just work, like a baseline that just works. I mean, for a home user perspective it was a multi day job to get a rb5009+2 cap ax+hexs working. It would be nice to have updated documentation and working baselines for people not so inclined on networking. Forum has helped and thanks to some users i managed to solve some of the issues that i clearly say are due to my ignorance. I propose you evaluate the possibility of adding like a interface aimed to home users where things are more inclined to ease of config+deployment and keep the amazing router os as powerful and complex as it is. I love your approach and your products, maybe making things a bit home user oriented would expand your market.
It was changed in RouterOS 7.15beta8, so you will get it in the upcoming 7.15 stable version soon. *) winbox - updated icons for WireGuard and ZeroTier menus;
Cross platform winbox? Finally. Just don't go too far on the "nice visuals". Functionality > fancy looks any day, we need a powerful tool, not a toy. Can't wait.
Imagine a world, where MikroTik devices by default would discover their TR069 ACS using DHCP at boot and then automatically connect and fetch the configuration.
@@aliancemd, that is why you would disable this out-of-the-box-feature when rolling-over your productive configuration, as you would also change admin-credentials.
Hello please mąkę a video about all the New features in ros like once in a year. Features like bth, zerotier, wireguard, cloud ddns/time. Auto resovle DNS to IP in fw lists, auto backup etc. BTW great work and great videos !
3:27 "Side Note"... If i had known this in the past, I'd have probably resolved things a lot quicker in some instances. Would recommend making sure this is not a side note for when you make your Mac and Linux versions of winbox, as it is FAR easier in those systems to just not have an IP on an interface.
Is there any way/plans to configure a mikrotik router declaratively? Like terraform or similar projects? It would be great for reproducibility and tracking changes I would love this feature as it's basically the only thing that i cannot manage in my homelab declaratively
By mistakenly I uninstall my mikrotik router RB750gr3 OS, after that I reset many time but its not showing in winbox also not in Net install app. Can you please tell me how I reinstall OS again on my mikrotik Router ?
Hi sir I am new and I am not Enable to scan the signal while configuration the devices sxt lite 5 old version I have worked but new firmware v7.14.2 is very different to configuration so kindly do upload the video about confirmation
So I struggled to understand the best or preferred way to do vlans, in particular how to maintain access to manage the secondary access point and router/access point hap ac2. Guidance on manual configuration of the switch chip in the ac2 would be good, because the thing switched to not hardware routing when I set up vlans. The other thing is the lack of a built in mechanism to reflect DHCP clients in the DNS service to make lan devices discoverable by name. As a firewall novice some idiots guides would be good, particularly with a view to avoiding common mistakes.
Thank you for the feedback! The hAP ac2 is primarily a wireless access point, hence switching features are limited. However adding vlan interfaces to a bridge will always disable hardware offloading, as the processing for that has to be done using the CPU. Devices that are primarily a switch and not a wireless access point, could use vlan-filtering and stay hardware offloaded, but you have to check the individual switch chip capabilities.
You don't need to configure IP addresses for WebFig or SSH. Every interface always has an IPv6 link-local address (unless you explicitly disable IPv6 entirely). That's my preferred way of connecting to devices with an unknown IP configuration. Looking forward to the new Winbox! The current Windows-only version with its 1990s look & feel never appealed to me.
I do not understand why mikrotik devices do not work as a ecosystem. I have rb3011uias , with crs326-rm. They work as separate entityes. There is no bonding. It is the same as if I have a udm pro with a cisco switch.

Thanks, the thinking there was that Winbox comes with a terminal feature and not that everything can be configured through GUI.
When is the new winbox coming out
A lot of progress is being made, but no ETA, sorry.
Not even a year? I'm thinking about using mikrotik but wine is not an option for me ✌🏻

Ooh? Hints of a new Winbox 😀.
Just please don't ruin it. It's a technicians tool and it's functionality should never be compromised for aesthetics.

YES TOTALLY AGREE.
As a novice, some template configurations or more extensive setup wizards might be nice.

Could you give us a sneak peek in tne new winbox?
Maybe... but not yet.
Really hoping that the new WinBox doesn't bloat up the UI and retains the small elements like it is now.
